I was in the neighborhood looking for pho when I happened to come across this place. My hair was becoming unruly and as I was about to meet some friends I haven't seen in years, I decided to get my haircut. I left my phone at home and couldn't read any reviews but I went in despite my reluctance. Un mot, superbe! My French is so-so but Veronique speaks English well and I was able to convey what I wanted. She made a suggestion that I was unsure of but lo and behold, it was much better than I imagined. Merci beaucoup, Veronique! I will frequent this place each time I visit Paris and hopefully, my transfer will go in soon so I could move here permanently and become a regular. And usually I'm very picky with my highlights, so it's amazing to have it done right on the first try- especially at a salon I've never been to before! It was a little tricky to get to, but very worth it. Highly recommend! **I came back 2 months later, and....** I'm sorry to post a follow-up review that is not as great as the first one, and also because I like Veronique very much, but I am not happy. I don't know what happened yesterday, but all I wanted was to lighten up my roots so that they matched the rest of my hair, but 4 hours later, instead of blond highlights, I came out with darker, reddish hair. In all the years I've highlighted my hair, I've never had it come out like this. I still got charged about €140 for something I really don't like, and i gave a tip because they spent a lot of time on me, but ugh I am so unhappy with this color. The good: If you are a person with super straight hair and short and easy they do a good job. They also seemed to know how to do good haircuts. People are nice and sweet. The bad: But for me it was not good. I have curly hair, somewhat thick and a lot and they just couldn't nail it. The blower was weak. The hairstylist said it was because they were going to curl it but she didn't know how to apply the blower to the roots. I know because I know how to do blow dry, rolls, curls, etc... my hair was left humid from the top. I understand why the bottom so the hair can curl but at the top? Thank God they had a small blower at the hotel and I was able to redo my hair somewhat. I had a photoshoot and my hair was not the way it should have been. For my type of hair do not recommend. Le bon: si vous êtes une personne aux cheveux super raides et courts et faciles, ils font du bon travail. Ils semblaient également savoir comment faire de bonnes coupes de cheveux. Les gens sont gentils et doux. Le mauvais: mais pour moi ce n'était pas bon. J'ai des cheveux bouclés, un peu épais et beaucoup et ils ne pouvaient tout simplement pas les clouer. Le ventilateur était faible. La coiffeuse a dit que c'était parce qu'ils allaient la boucler, mais elle ne savait pas comment appliquer le ventilateur sur les racines. Je sais parce que je sais comment sécher, rouler, boucler, etc ... mes cheveux sont restés humides par le haut. Je comprends pourquoi le bas pour que les cheveux puissent boucler mais en haut? Dieu merci, ils avaient une petite soufflerie à l'hôtel et j'ai pu me refaire un peu les cheveux. J'ai eu une séance photo et mes cheveux n'étaient pas comme ils auraient dû être. Very responsive for booking a slot. Interesting location. Clean place. Friendly team some with OK English sufficient for communication. Mainly Asian clienteles.. which is in the first place why I came here as I wanted to have a salon that knows Asian hair. I came here strictly for hair colouring as my grey hair badly need covering. The process was a bit painful as I experienced a lot of strong pulling. I never experienced like this before, but OK I have pretty high pain tolerance. I'd have rated the hair wash to be "excellent" (with hot towel in the end), but I'd rate simply "average" since (a) I was left for awhile at washing station (that is a bit uncomfortable for the neck) as the lady washing my hair needed to attend someone; (b) when I came home and saw myself in the mirror I discovered the colour visibly stained my scalp. Finally - the outcome of the hair colouring itself : I'd say below average. I came particularly to cover my grey roots.. yet there are a lot of grey roots not covered with colour.. As for price.. well not sure.. as this is the first time I do my hair in Paris. There are salons charging more and there are others charging less I guess. read more

This salon is amazingly clean, the stylists are super friendly and talented and I am so glad I found this place! Although there was a slight language barrier (I don't speak French), my stylist was able to give me the hair cut I wanted when I just showed her a picture! And it took less than 45 min which is amazing (considering the amount and length of hair she had to work with)! Price was great, too! read more

This is my favorite hair salon in Paris. I've been here twice in the last year and the staff are consistently professional and nice. It's affordable and has fantastic service. I visited AVY Coiffure because of Yelp's list that this is an english-speaking salon in Paris. I requested for an english-speaking stylist and offered a few days when I would be available. Was given a day where the employees were 2 Cambodians who did NOT speak english. There was no indication to me at all that my request would not be honored. That's upsetting because I could have gone to any other salon instead of travelling across Paris for this. I wanted a cut and color, and the price for color was from 25€. For my length, my color jobs are usually in the range of 45-55€ when the price list states as 'starting from 25€'. Imagine my surprise when I was charged 70€. My hair is shoulder-length, by the way. Upon reflection later, in the frenzy and language confusion at the beginning, I did not ask how much it was, and the stylist also did not offer to tell me. Does that make it my fault though? I don't think so and I felt ripped off just because I'd forgotten to ask for the price. To end it off, I had to request a receipt after paying and was reluctantly given one. I'd paid cash and my gut-instinct told me the employees wanted to pocket the money since their boss was not around. And as for the style? Looked GREAT after the session. He blew-dry my hair for ages. A day later, I considered this my biggest hair disaster. read more

Veronique and her staff run a very clean, very hospitable, very affordable salon. Booked an appointment through Yelp the day before and got a fast response. Before the haircut I was offered coffee and got a shampoo wash, both free of extra charge. Although I'm American and my French still needs brushing up in these everyday-life areas, everyone there is patient and friendly, and there were no problems or discomfort communicating. (Tip: as others have also noted, bring a photo if you are worried about communicating; my stylist did not have trouble copying the cut from a photo on my phone.) read more

I was looking for a place in Paris to get my hair colored and found AVY Coiffure online. I sent an email inquiry via Yelp and received an answer within minutes and was able to book an appointment for the next day. The location is a bit difficult to find so I suggest you give yourself a few extra minutes- or ask specific directions as it is not on the main street level. I ended up being 25 minutes late but Veronique took me without a problem. She speaks English so if your French, like mine is limited, don't worry. The salon was busy the entire time and everyone was incredibly friendly and accommodating, and the price was very reasonable. I will be back next time I'm in Paris for a haircut as well. read more

I am so glad i was able to find this place. I needed my roots to be touched up and only had 2 hours for this to be done. The stylist spoke english to me and was able to deliver exactly what i wanted. Just got a hair cut at Avy and I loved it! I didnt have an appointment and I just walked in..hey were very welcoming and helpful, trying to know what exactly I want and explaining to me what she will have to do..One of the staff member spoke English and was helping me with the translation..Its not so pricey I belive its reasonable for a hair cut only it cost 30EUR. I would definitely recommend and would go back again. read more
