Welp, after many years of talking about getting a cleaner, my husband caved. We got a cleaner. As a…read moremilitary family, we have generally gotten move out cleaners or move-in cleaners and at this point I don't think anything has truly impressed me. Usually we just went with who was available the quickest. We are now retired and bought a house 5 months ago. We wanted to start the "find a cleaner" process. I did some research and stumbled upon, Paragon Cleaning. The first thing that stood out was the communication. They always responded, they were patient as well. I can be hard to get a hold of due to working in a school with no service unless my phone sits against the window. They were so patient as I was trying to set the process up. Then the day comes to finalize the set up and set the date and make the deposit. During all that I was on the train for a day trip to NYC. Seriously I was just horrible for communication on my end. I hated that for them. But, they handled it very professionally and were patient. The second thing that stood out was they were established. I think 5-6 years at this point. The last thing of many that stood out was the look of their website. It's very detailed oriented. A few days before my cleaning I was getting texts and emails to remind me. The day comes and I get a text letting me know the crew was on their way. I had no idea what to expect. The house was all theirs. Im thinking 1-2 people will come. Nope! There were 4 people who came. Josh, Ashley, Sunshine and Holly, were a great team. They all had their areas they tended too. I popped in a few times here and there on security cameras we have through the inside and outside of the home. Everything was going well! Impressed! They all kept moving. Very minimal breaks. At one point Josh pointed out the curtains to be fixed to his coworker. She handled that well and fixed it right away and thanked him for noticing it and telling her. It was so nice to see. Overall the special touches throughout were nice from toilet paper being creased to my pillows on my bed being arranged. I really felt like they all cared so much and it just was not another house to clean for the day. The shower door is spotless! The kitchen was very well done as well. My floors were mopped and that was a big improvement. One last thing to mention is the communication during the cleaning. Our toilet was leaking, somehow. So they took the liberty to shutting the water off to stop the leak until so came. I'm so thankful they caught that, communicated it to me, and sent photos! Awesome! I knew they left when I had a text they were done. They worked 8:30-12:45pm. Perfect for 4 people. Overall everything went well. I've hired them for monthly cleanings!

My home was not that dirty to begin with, and while I can appreciate the fans and blinds dusted, it was not a deep clean. Especially when using a swifter microfiber mop.....things were not moved off the counters, so really cant say those got cleaned. Then after the highest end quote of 446, they charged me another $500 ....because they felt more TLC was warranted... A complete rip-off, will never promote or refer them to anyone, what a waste of $496 dollars... and keep in mind , a single mature person, who is very neat to begin with.... And got overcharged , this was in no way a deep clean, and I had stated from the begining the home was not in need of that. Never again..... and yeah also tried to say I wanted to do bi-weekly cleaning... oh F no I didn't.

The price was reasonable, the scheduling was reasonable, and the rather involved consultation to give me a proper quote gave me a fair bit of peace of mind regarding the various nuances of my home - It's a bit larger than average with high ceilings, so there were a lot of nooks and crannies I'd been worried about. She organized it with me and they got it all. I also opted to have the carpets cleaned, having acquired a few stains over the years from my rampaging little munchkin, and by the time they left everything was basically as good as new... I was pretty impressed. All that said, the biggest thing for me was the flexibility and attitude. After I'd missed an appointment (My phone alarm clock failed me!) she was still graciously able to work with me and get all of the cleaning done before my deadline to have photos taken of the home - Something for which I'll always be grateful. Her cleaners were exceedingly polite and throughout the entire process she was caring, energetic, and so clearly devoted to her work that it really left an impression on me. I actually signed up for Yelp specifically to post this review so that others can be aware of what a stellar experience this was! So, yes, without a doubt this was a 5-Star experience for me. Thank you, A'La Carte Clean, for really helping me out.

Reviews Yelp I…read morecalled Mr. Handyman of Newport News for an estimate to remove the full size shower door assembly and replace it with a new frameless one. I told her I had it in the box, in my garage. I had purchased it from Lowe's and it was unopened. I also a had a two steps set from our Laundry Room to the garage that needed a set of wooden handrails installed. I also had the wood for that too. She asked me to send pictures of each, which I did. She gave me a cost of $350-$500 estimate for the shower door, but reserved the cost for the step rails to the Handyman when he arrived. She set the arrival for Dec 12 at between 12-1:00. I received a text the day before to confirm the visit no time and I replied. I had asked for a courtesy call before he came, but received none. He showed up at 8:00 AM . Unacceptable to me, for we are retired and I was still asleep. I told him his mistake was he didn't ask for me, for I was the one that had call. He said he did 75% of his business with Wives and thought I wasn't home. I said you didn't ask. He had come in and checked the area. His cost was $550 which I didn't agree for shower door. I told him $500 as the lady told me as tops. He agreed. His price to add the step handles was $450 to install just two wooden handrails and side slats on the steps. I said no. He would have to come down. I called the business and explained to her that he went to Lowe's for materials, which I also had and I had idea what he'd needed. She asked me if I would let her hang up before he purchased anything and she would call me back? I agreed. No returned call. He returned with a written Work approval of for me to sign. I looked it over and it was blank except name, address and at the bottom a place for me to sign. This was an authorization to do the work. I told him I didn't sign blank documents. I told him to fill it out stating the work he was going to do, including the removal of old door assembly, disposal and clean up to my satisfaction. I further want a signed copy from him. He said I told you the cost would be $500. He seemed a little upset with what I wanted. He said let me go out to the truck and talk to my boss. I will come back and let you know. He drove off with no comment. Note: I learned a lesson a long time about signing blank documents and I haven't since. On the good side: The Handyman was courteous, with one acceptation, looked at the box with the door and wood for the steps. He seemed knowledgeable and wore covers on his shoes to protect our wooden floor. I cannot recommend this company. If you hire them, get it in writing, you may be regretful.
