Hi, my name is Jay, and I came to Jaywalker Lodge in February 2023 at rock bottom. I was severely underweight, addicted to meth and alcohol, and honestly living on the edge of death. I'm now nearly 3.5 years clean and sober, and I have found more joy than I ever thought possible. During my time at the Lodge, I worked through years of trauma with some truly gifted counselors and therapists -- shoutout to Alice and Natalie especially. They also got me plugged into the local recovery community every day through meetings, activities, and service, which turned out to be everything. I ended up staying 8 months total, going through the Lodge, Solutions, and Sober Living programs. Each one helped me ease back into life in a real and meaningful way. I've left my old life behind entirely. I relocated permanently to the area, and the group of guys I went through treatment with are still some of my closest friends today. That's not something you plan, it just happens when people show up for each other in the hardest moments. If you're on the fence, just trust the process. I don't write reviews normally and despise yelp always, but Jaywalker saved my life so I figure it's the least I can do. Jaywalker is a 12-Step based program, but more importantly it is a community and fellowship based program that uses all modalities of treatment to best assist those in its various programs. Jaywalker doesn't force anyone to do step work in any clinical setting, but it is expected that you find a twelve step fellowship group and sponsor in that fellowship. The program is 9 months and not cheap, but if I had come here 9 years ago when I first went to treatment the net benefit would have exceeded the cost ten fold. The lodge is set up so that about half of your time is spent in a clinical and environment and the other half is spent doing outdoor activities. The clinicians and the activity guides serve the same purpose: to help you learn to live with yourself free from drugs and alcohol. The staff from top to bottom are kind, considerate, professional, and for the most part are fellow Jaywalkers who either went to school to become counselors or are men who stayed in the valley and made Carbondale their home. T The Alumni network is vast and for those who might relapse the staff and the community does everything possible to help a fellow Jaywalker ask for help. If someone is struggling after they get out all they have to do is reach out and be willing to accept help. There is a weekly alumni meeting that is not 12 step related that usually has 50ish alumni attending it is the center of many Jaywalkers programs of recovery. There are alumni trips funded by Jaywalker that welcomes all alumni regardless of sobriety lengths. The alumni program is truly what separates Jaywalker from all other treatment centers that I've been to or am aware of. Unfortunately, and fortunately, I have been to three residential treatment programs in the past ten years and nothing comes close to the Jaywalker experience and the community that it cultivates. Addiction is a disease of isolation and Jaywalker provides the camaraderie and structured environment to make recovery an appealing and meaningful way of life. If you or a loved one has a problem with drugs and alcohol I cannot recommend the Jaywalker lodge enough. read more

I was quick to respond when I found out my only nephew was addicted to meth. With my 24 years of sobriety plus working professionally in the recovery business for over 15 years, I knew time was of the essence and did not hesitate to contact my friend, KC Gooding. I wasn't sure Jaywalker was the right fit for my sisters family, but KC assured me he would personally assist in any way he could.
