I came to see Jayn after months of searching for a therapist. I was dealing with severe depression and felt my life was out of control. Not only was Jayn the only therapist who answered the phone directly, she also was the most confident and direct person I spoke to. Over the phone she was honest with me about how much effort would be required on my part in order to see real progress. Her honesty and confidence that she could help me made me feel hopeful and positive after 10 minutes on the phone. In session, Jayn is competent, efficient, and caring. Looking back, I am amazed at her patience and clinical precision in my treatment. The best and most surprising part of Jayn's methodology is that the focus is on strengthening the individual to realize their ability to control their life. I want to say that "she saved my life", but I'm sure she would say that she only helped me bring online the tools and skills I needed to save my own life. Jayn brings the perfect balance of intellect and empathy to the room, which in my case was exactly what I needed to feel that I could be open and vulnerable while ensuring that I wasn't wasting my time. I have heard too many stories of friends spending years in therapy and seeing no actual change in their lives. My life has turned around in ways I didn't think were possible, and it didn't take me years - it didn't even take a year! This is a review of her administrative and communication skills rather than her actual therapy skills. My girlfriend and I scheduled and called her for a 30 minute consultation. After describing a problem, she told us that our relationship issues sounded uncomplicated and that she would likely not see us since she is equivalent to a "neurosurgeon of therapy" and that she would likely refer us to a "nurse practitioner equivalent." But she would still assess and see us in case there are other factors that weren't discussed in the quick consultation. During the call, she stated at least 4 more times about what a "high level" therapist she was and how she loved the complicated cases. Based on her other reviews, we accepted her arrogance and figured that she was like a Dr. House type person, and that she could back up that arrogance with her skill. We also considered this may be part of her unorthodox approach where she would have us laugh about her together. She sent us the assessments to do online and we returned them. We then scheduled a time to meet with her (It took her about a week to send us the assessments. And another few more once she got back from her holiday to schedule a time to meet). We then realized we hadn't spoken about the fees or done the intake documents. This is where the real mess came in, if it wasn't messy already. When I did ask for the price, she said a session would be $240. Since it would be our first time meeting, she scheduled a double session which made sense. I did infer that it would cost us $480 for the 100 minutes, but I just wanted to get a confirmation with the number $480 written in an email or invoice. She vaguely confirmed without stating our time would be double $240, but then she sent me an email the day prior stating our time would be $240 in bold, red letters. As for the intake documents, she said she sent them to my email (which she has from previous correspondence), but neither my girlfriend nor I received them until the night before when we reminded her that day. I completed the intake (which took me about 10 minutes or so instead of 2 hours as she noted), and Venmo'd her the $240 she said we owed in the email. My girlfriend and I decided to still chalk all this odd communication as a part of her unorthodox tactics. She then contacts a couple hours prior to our meeting us asking for the remaining $240, but when I point out her email, she apologized for the typo and said that since our trust had been broken, it would be best for us to find another therapist and cancel our meeting. I had some off feelings about her from the get go, but decided to press on until she canceled herself. I'm pretty sure we dodged a bullet with Dr. Jayn and will find another talented Bay Area therapist to help us. read more

Update: Jayn really has saved me. In looking back at where I was when I started with her, I don't even know who that person was. Speaking of which: I once thought therapy was a bunch of mumbo jumbo. But, when I felt I was at the brink of completely falling apart, I decided to seek therapy as a last ditch effort. I tried to reach out to a few therapists in the area, and Jayn was the fastest to reply. My initial 30 minute consultation call was scheduled quickly and easily. During the call, Jayn assured me she knew that she could help me and that she knew how to help me. My first in person session was scheduled for only a few days later. I didn't know what to expect in therapy, let alone EMDR. I walked out of my first session in awe and a "believer." Jayn is caring and tough (to make sure you stay in the right direction). Jayn is trustworthy, smart, and confident. She will get you to where you need to be, especially when you yourself cannot imagine getting there. She'll be right there with you each step of the way--through the tears and even laughter. The best way to put it is: She does not f*** around! And, this is exactly what I needed. I felt I hit my rock bottom and got through it with Jayn. You must be ready to put the work in yourself, and once you are, Jayn will be your all-knowing guide that you didn't know you needed for that journey. Was unsuccessful in getting services from Dr Jayn so this is not for her care, but rather the untimely and EXTREMELY frustrating process to even potentially become a client. If your practice is full, or you don't have the time, please have your staff be upfront about it. Having a recent trauma resurface, I was seeking out EMDR. My EAP and insurance company had Dr Jayn listed as a provider. I reached out w an email, as I'm very limited on time during the day. No response. I decided to call her office as the website mentioned speaking to a live person. Essentially just an answering service. A week or so later (I missed the call) Someone leaves me about setting up an brief call (intake?) and then I get a few texts about needing to cancel (intake)appointment and set up another appointment. Uh ok? Long story short - have 15-20 min intake call about the different tiers of service. They send me an email, while on the call. I respond within 10 mins, with all the insurance info requested. No response for over a week. Nothing. Nada. Zip. I send another follow up email - and to this day - nothing. A complete waste of my time and shows how valued my situation was on providing care and compassion. Located a responsive provider via. EMDRIA.org. Before I started my sessions with Dr Jayn, I was a 28 year old single woman coming out of yet another hopeless relationship, living far away from my support network on another continent, and unable to feel happy about anything. Being very career-driven, I always had one goal after another to distract me from my emotions. However, I had run out of energy to keep going as I was. I felt sad, lonely, and anxious all the time. I could not believe that I would find someone this perfect for me before I worked with Dr Jayn. Even though the high fees was a financial strain for me as I was early in my career, this has been by far the best investment in myself. While investment in higher education may have prepared me for financial success, my investment in therapy has prepared me for the rest of my life. Dr. Jayn is an amazing therapist and one of the most important people I have ever met, because she helped me transform my outlook on life. (I'm a terrible procrastinator because I should have written this review many months ago, but better late than never, lol!) I started working with her at the beginning of this year, and she helped me see how so many feelings were stored in my body. After each visit with her, I felt much better because an emotional weight had been lifted each time. As much as I love Dr. Jayn, I will note that her style of therapy is more "direct" than your average therapist. If you want to get to the heart of your problems quickly without wasting a lot of time, Dr. Jayn is fantastic. But if she senses that you're telling yourself lies or believing in false beliefs, she will point that out to you - not in a negative way, not to make you feel bad, but to make you realize what you're doing. She asks really great questions in order to peel away each layer of beliefs and habits to get at the core formative experiences at the heart of who we are. I enjoyed each of the exercises she assigned me and I learned a lot each time. I feel like I have a lot more confidence now in who I am because of my sessions with Dr. Jayn. This is a long overdue review. After 11 months of a mix of 10 day intensive therapy and weekly therapies, I can say that Dr. Jayn is one of a kind therapist. She treated me and my family of four. Needless to say, it was an expensive year but worth every penny. I've carried the trauma from my childhood into my current family and has negatively affected my relationship with my husband and kids. I almost lost them because of my constant anger and unhappiness with everything. Despite having read many self-help and parenting books over the years, I didn't have the tools and skills to deal with my problems. Dr. Jayn is a patient, kind and caring therapist. She is tough and blunt if she needs to be, but she really means well. I must admit that my situation is probably one of the most complicated case Dr. Jayn has seen but she didn't give up on us. Dr. Jayn worked through my past and current issues using EMDR. She also taught me effective communication skills - speaking my truth so my family members can meet my needs and vice versa. Simply put, Jayn has been my heroine through and through during the most difficult phase of growth in my life thus far. I walked out of our first session with an involuntary ear-to-ear grin that lasted at least half an hour. Since then, my personal therapeutic experience with her vis-à-vis specific treatment needs has been pretty amazing... and this review doesn't actually have very much to do with that. So why five stars? Everybody is different and will experience variable compatibility with any given therapist based on their unique needs, circumstances, and sensitivities. It's entirely possible that Jayn's conversational manner and/or preferred therapeutic methodologies might not be a suitable fit for a patient and that's just par for the course when it comes to therapy. (Note: her website is chock-full of contextual information about her primary methodologies, philosophy, and more--I definitely recommend taking a deep dive into that material before committing). In light of all that, I'd like my review to focus on the parts of Jayn's practice that aren't that specific to my experience alone. Jayn is: * Aggressively convenient: we've had sessions in person, over the phone, over Skype and Hangouts, via international VoIP calls... heck I even FaceTimed it in once while trying to find parking in San Francisco cause I knew I wouldn't make it back to Wi-Fi in time. Jayn actually makes it tough to miss a session, but when it happens she is... * Responsively flexible: when given appropriate notice for session cancellation, Jayn is great about finding other time slots to fulfill a patient's treatment needs. Plenty of times she even proactively initiated contact with me first about rescheduling and similar issues. This same level of adaptability also extended to her treatment strategy for me (but remember, this review's not about that). * Competitively affordable: Jayn has an accounting and economics background and it certainly shows in her attention to patients' needs when it comes to billing. She is a godsend as far as working things out with insurance through some obstacles and working with me to allow continued treatment in spite of sudden financial pressures. * Undeniably competent: when it comes to therapy qualifications, Jayn is a technical rockstar! Her expansive knowledge of the field and its diverse niches and methodologies is unmistakable. Jayn is remarkably intelligent and has put the real time in; she truly knows her stuff! * Powerfully inspirational: Jayn is a successful entrepreneur who quite demonstrably has her own life together with a lot going on. She has an extremely genuine passion for her career with a fruitful and exciting life outside of work because she has what it takes to balance the equation. After over 6 months with another LMFT with no change, I found Jayn. My 5 year old was having issues at school with controlling his anger and emotions. It took only 2 visits for me to start seeing a huge change in my son and how he managed his emotions at home and at school. She created a safe place for him to express himself and talk through issues that he would not share at home. We both grew from our time with Jayn. We both learned how to manage our emotions and talk through them together. I started sessions with Dr. Jayn after suffering with depression for a bit over a year. My day to day life was constantly disturbed by bouts of depression that led to other self-destructive behavior. My dad, worried about my mental health, contacted her and she actually reached out to me directly. To be honest, I didn't feel that my depression could be dealt with and going to therapy, for me, was just something that I might as well try. From the very first session, the fact that she told me very confidently that she could help me and have me out of therapy within 6 months, in turn, made me feel very confident if I was prepared to aggressively tackle my problems. I didn't want to be in therapy long term and this was exactly what I wanted to hear. Dr. Jayn is a therapist that you're very comfortably sharing with from the very start of the first session. After sufficiently unloading everything that I thought was giving me anxiety in my life, as well as other awful childhood memories that I had lingering, I went through a intensive treatment phase. Dr. Jayn was quickly able to recognize that a lot of problems I was having were also family problems and went above and beyond to reach out to my mom, my dad, and my sister, and begin family sessions. She identified issues that I could never fathom on my own were the reason for why I was struggling. Throughout the entire process of dealing with my depression, trust in her ability to know what was holding me back even if I didn't know and also know how to address it quickly was the only thing I had confidence in my life in general. I can't recommend Dr. Jayn enough if you're someone that doesn't want to linger in therapy for a long time and are ready to move on from what's ailing you quickly and in an empathetic environment. Before, I couldn't do a single task for 30 minutes without needing a break and wait to collect myself again. It's been taken me a while to come around and put this review together because it's hard to find the words that describe my experience in working with Jayn. I don't think I can appropriately verbalize the indescribable transformation that I've encountered, but I will try. My life has honestly been completely changed because of having Jayn in my life. I've known Jayn now for 6 years, since I was 24, and I gravitated to her during two major times of my life. It's hard to imagine not having her in my orbit. After the first transformational period with her, I found my husband. I was stuck in my old perspectives of dating and relationships, and post therapy, my views of what a healthy relationship and partner should look like had shifted. The second time I came to her, I was a complete hot mess, experiencing an existential crisis and in search of clarity and meaning in life. I had been overworking myself, ignoring my symptoms and issues to the point where I became so depressed and anxious (considering medication), not feeling like myself, relationships all declining, and in need of desperate help. The 10 day Intensive EMDR program was worth every penny. It was that hard and fast reset button to getting me back on track. To be honest, at first I was unsure whether to do it because it was pricey and I was not sure what it would entail, if it would work, etc. (granted, this is also me knowing Jayn and having worked with her before!). It was a big money and time investment, but I really needed the help so I took that leap of faith. I'm glad I did because my life has been changed dramatically and it was worth every penny. Post the intensive therapy, it felt like I've cleared out my baggage to the point where I feel so peaceful and calm, full of love and excitement, with a completely new outlook on life. Don't get me wrong, the therapy process is really hard, but you need to go through the gunk to get better. At the end of the 10 days, my brain had been completely rewired in almost every way possible. The intensive therapy unblocked blockages that were holding me back, and now my relationships are solid and back on track, and I am finally living my highest self, living to my highest vibration. I learned various tools and skills to communicate and deal with stressors, which allows me to finally be true and authentic to who I am. It's crazy to imagine that 3 months ago, I would constantly get triggered, but now things that used to bother me just flow right off. By the end of it, I ended up not needing the medication because I was so utterly happy (note this is subjective and personal to me, and everyone goes through a different journey. ultimately what worked for me may not be the same for you). So, thank you Jayn for all your help and support, and for creating this magical intensive program that only you would have the balls to do. I'm glad I took this route as opposed to sitting in therapy for months and months. I recommend everyone keep an open mind, give Jayn and her intensive program a shot. Hopefully you don't get to point like me of hitting total rock bottom, but if you do and need a lift out, it's there for you and Jayn's got you covered. read more

Jayn makes the logistical stuff easy so you can get down to business. She completely handled the insurance aspects and made scheduling in-person and video sessions flexible. I have worked with Jayn during two difficult periods in my life and it has been worth every minute, every commute and every dime. If you are the type of person that is looking for real change and self-improvement then work with Jayn. The EMDR methods she used allowed me to deal with difficult memories and protection mechanisms that were only hurting me as an adult. I second RK's review. In addition, I find her controlling, manipulative and untrustworthy. She had let it known in more ways than one how full her practice is. And yet she has the time to want me to come in 3 times a week. She also threatened to cancel sessions if I do not come in as often as she wants. I also asked for a discount on her fees because she had a sliding scale and she wanted me to come very often. Again, she threatened to not want to work with me. Her views about men in relationships are also not very kind and loving. Maybe she will change her tactics when she reads this review and not do it to you. But there will be other ways her sense of being will come out. I want to become a better person in order to have better relationships. She tears rather than mends relationships. I don't like giving reviews much less bad reviews. But be aware and beware, I just don't think putting your subconscious mental state to a person who is not so 'healthy' herself is a safe thing to do. read more

We have "graduated" from therapy with Jayn after 10 months of weekly sessions. I cried after our last session together because it was such a pleasure working with her that it was truly bittersweet for it to all be over. My partner and I chose Jayn as our therapist because of her experience with couples getting through an affair, working with LGBT couples, and her EMDR training. As a lesbian couple, it was important to us to find a therapist who was non-judgemental and accepting of us. Jayn was a perfect fit for us in that regard. It's true, Jayn is not the traditional therapist. Some reviews on her make her out to be condescending, but I think honesty and wake-up calls can be mistaken for condescension. We are sure that she never means to make anybody feel bad. In our experience, Jayn is blunt and asks hard questions because she wanted us to think critically about our actions or about aspects of our lives (past/present/future) so that we can make a change for the better. Because of this, and doing EMDR with her, some therapy sessions are really emotionally draining. But looking back on them, we think they helped us heal. Jayn told us from the beginning that therapy would be really difficult before it would get easy. I didn't understand what she meant until the end of our working together. Jayn believes that with the right tools and skills, everyone can graduate therapy and make positive changes in their lives. In our relationship, there were common themes or issues that caused us to get into bad arguments. Jayn taught us to use certain methods to break the cycle of imminent downward spiral. Now, our arguments happen less often, we speak to each other in a more open manner, and are less critical of one another. Our relationship is so much healthier than it was when we were in crisis and started seeing Jayn, and in some ways, better than it was even before the crisis. Most importantly, we learned lots of new aspects about ourselves and each other that we didn't know, even after almost a decade-long relationship! Besides being honest and politely blunt, Jayn is also hilarious. Throughout many sessions we would alternate between crying and laughing; even the hardest sessions still contained some moments of levity. This truly made a huge difference. Jayn is light-hearted, warm, strong, and patient. Choosing her as your therapist means sessions will rarely be easy, but you will certainly graduate knowing more about yourself (and your partner and relationship) and with lots of guidance on how to meet future challenges in your life. read more

This is a review of my therapy with Dr Jayn. The truth is I would have never considered mental health therapy. I was a successful professional with a thriving career. I had a wonderful family, a nice home and lived in a desirable part of the world. I was healthy and could pursue any interest I desired. I was the one providing the therapy to my patients and accustomed to taking care of others. I had all the solutions. The universe, however, has a funny way of waking one up. About 5 years ago, we went through a terrible tragedy. Without going into personal details and in the spirit of remaining anonymous, it was the worst thing I had experienced. It happened so suddenly, so out of left field that it completely overwhelmed me. I was lost and did not know what to do - for the first time in my life, I had no control and no solutions. I only survived that period due to the unbelievable support around me - starting with my spouse who was and is an absolute rock. Our parents and siblings propped us up. Support slowly started to arrive from quarters that we did not anticipate - people who were not close to us gave us so much that we are forever grateful. Prayers were slowly answered, and things started to stabilize. 3 years later we were in a better place. But inside, I was a mess. I felt like I was constantly underwater and only able to come up for short gasps of air. My emotional state ranged from relative stability to deep depression to anxiety. I had forgotten what it felt like to be 'normal'. I went to see Dr Jayn at my sister's insistence. I had recognized that I needed help but did not expect much. Within 5 minutes of the first session, Dr Jayn threw me in what she calls 'the deep end'. I came out of that session shocked and with the realization that I needed to do this. In the beginning, I would be fatigued for 3 days after every session. The 're-wiring' process was heavy and weighed on me. After a few months, things started to get better. Over time, we worked on multiple facets of my life - core issues and responses to events, behavior with my spouse, family, friends, colleagues. She has a fantastic program - incredible memory of your life events, amazing way to tie the threads together, trauma therapy for things that need to be 'zapped' out, help clear the haze so you can see what is important. Therapy with Dr Jayn is hard - she will call you out when she needs to. You will be forced to address your own part in the events that surround you and how to course correct. Dr Jayn had told me in that first session that while my personal tragedy had brought me into the room, it was not the real reason I was there. I have understood that over the last 2 years as I completed my work with her. In time, my spouse came into therapy with her as well - our relationship has never been better. I am no longer underwater all the time - I can breathe again and now possess the tools to build a meaningful life and relationships. Looking back, the therapy was God sent. I could not imagine actually breaking through the trauma, depression, and dysfunction I had been living with for years permanently. But she was right! The six months I worked with Jayn were some of the most powerful and important months of my life. Every week, I felt my life transform from the inside out. Dr. Jayn is one of the most amazing therapists I could ever hope to encounter. She listens, offers amazing insights, never judges, and always tells it as she sees it, and that most important thing is she fights for you. I third RK's review. Jayn is judgmental and unprofessional. I don't believe she realizes how catty and condescending she really is, cloaking her coldness under a veil of tough love. I met her as a partner in a couples counseling session (she was working with my boyfriend at the time). I'm no newcomer to therapy and was looking forward to doing some of the hard work associated with growth and communication, but I walked out of her session feeling invalidated and attacked. After knowing me for only 15 minutes, she belittled the modalities used by my own personal therapist (whom I absolutely adore and have been seeing for 6 months), saying, "when you see her next, ask her when the treatment is ACTUALLY going to start." She insisted I find a different practitioner to meet with 3 times a week because "I lack the skills to be in a serious relationship". I can't go into further details here, but the second she said to me "you need to stop thinking like a woman," I knew it was hopeless. 50 minutes with her undid 1 year of trust-building (not to mention 100 years of feminism and anti-hysteria-shaming) and was destructive to our already fragile relationship. Jayn mismanaged our needs, painting with broad, harsh brush strokes and being overly prescriptive. If your life is a mess and you really need a drill sergeant to knock some sense into you, Jayn is your girl. If you need someone to speak for you and confront your loved ones because you can't articulate these issues on your own, Jayn is your girl. But for all other matters of the heart like the soft underbelly of romantic relationships, steer clear. I get she's trying to get us to see how we stir our own sh*t so we can go on to lead fruitful lives, but her delivery was abrasive to me. Personally, I wouldn't trust her to create a safe, healing space that honors your willingness to be vulnerable or admit brokenness. read more

I reached out to Jayn because I was feeling lost and hopeless. She closely listened to my problems, and helped me understand why I was in such a bad point in my life and feeling depressed. She is understanding, but didn't take it easy on me. She told me things that were hard to hear, but I needed to hear them. Her suggestions were a good dose of reality. During the first session she helped me get motivated and told me concrete things that I needed to do. 6 months later, after completing everything I needed to do, she immediately gave me a knew goal which will greatly help me in a life that keeps getting better and better. Jayn has been providing therapy to me for almost two years now. Her work with EMDR is amazingly beneficial. I really don't understand the negative reviews (everyone's experience may vary, I guess) -- personally, I have found Jayn most accommodating and not at all controlling or condescending. She has helped me to discover my own innermost thoughts and feelings, by asking great questions and then leading me through the EMDR on those. I feel validated and empowered by that approach, and I have learned a lot about how to recognize my own impulses non-judgmentally. At one point, she hinted that I might be ready to graduate, but I get so much out of this that I don't think I'll ever want to quit. read more

Jayn is truly great at what she does. As a 22 year old, I came to her because my anxiety was becoming difficult to manage, and I was skeptical or of her "one-shot" approach. However, I was desperate to feel better, and I decided to trust the process--I'm so glad I did. Through EMDR Jayn managed to work with me through all the pressing issues holding me back, and the causes of my anxiety. EMDR is a really great, efficient, and effective solution. It's especially great for those who are visual thinkers. It focused on working with the subconscious rather than the conscious mind, making treatment much faster and I learned so much about myself. Jayn helped me overcome many of my obstacles using EMDR. If you're considering it, try it! Every session isn't going to necessarily feel life changing, but if you give yourself at least two sessions you'll see how effectively and quickly it works. I graduated in just 12 sessions! Before I went to Jayn my anxiety was taking over my life, but I now feel so much more confident, calm and content. If you're truly seeking help, and willing to humble yourself and be honest for the sake of improving your life and yourself, then Jayn will be able to do great things for you. read more

My newly ex-wife and I went to Jayn about a year ago to resolve marital issues. I remember it as clear as day when we saw Jayn for the first time considering she was "surprised we decided to see her based on all of the bad reviews she received on yelp". A clear red flag from the start I wish I took seriously. Jayn has an unorthodox approach when dealing with marital issues as she doesn't focus on the issues themselves, but revisits the core foundational elements of the relationship so they can be strengthened. Seems like a very appealing approach, right? WRONG. After the first few sessions I realized it was making our relationship much worse. There was no neutrality, and only finger pointing on who was responsible for the issues. When there was role play, it was met with negative responses that "we weren't following her instructions" when I clearly wrote them down and repeated them to her verbatim. We took her "standardized tests" to obtain a deeper insight into each of our personalities to see if we were compatible, which after reviewing the results she basically stated, "I don't think you guys should be together, maybe friends, but that's about it". As she did state she would be willing to work on these issues, she wasn't positive about it at all and basically stated it was a tough hill to climb. Additionally, she was the first person to state we should trial a separation to see how we felt, something of which was never brought to our attention previously. At this point, we basically felt like everything was hopeless based on her feedback. Soon after we tried another therapist, which was a blessing in disguise at the time, but unfortunately it was too late for our relationship. It is important to note his remarks were completely contradictory to Jayn's approach and actually stated he wish we saw him first as avoiding discussing the issues, being negative, and simply relying on standardized tests was a very bad approach at reconciliation. Unfortunately, Jayn's thoughts grew deep into my wife so the third therapist's recommendations were never fully pursued leading the relationship to a divorce. I was with my ex-wife for a strong 6 years and I never thought our relationship would end in a divorce - we were extremely close. Best friends and lovers for many years so after she was exposed to Jayn, literally every sense of her being changed to the point where I was eliminated from my ex-wife's life completely. Regardless, every situation is different, but if you are looking to resolve a marital issue, I highly recommend to PROCEED WITH CAUTION. I would hate for someone to end up in my shoes. However, if you're not married and looking to develop self-love without any care of the world to anyone else in your life, including a partner, then Jayn may be the person for you. read more

I found Dr. Jayn Rajandran (we call her Dr. Jayn) to be very effective in my case. I was becoming overwhelmed with stress and it was beginning to impact my career. Also, my reactions to the stress were counterproductive. My wife helped me book the appointment, and I went through the intake process, which consisted of answering a battery of questions and discussing my agenda and her treatment approach. Dr. Jayn made it clear that there was a sense of urgency in dealing with the issues, and that the goal was to focus on causes to mitigate symptoms, and that effective treatment might require dealing with underlying issues. She guided me through some EMDR therapy, and worked on both the causes of the stress and my reactions to it. She relentlessly followed the data and helped evaluate what is most important. My wife and I participated in marital therapy, since home issues and work issues had gotten intertwined. She has a gift for focusing on what is important, and has a determination to understand and address issues, and avoids dragging things out. Her insight really shined here for me, because she had to overcome some of my stubbornness, embarrassment and reluctance to open up to her or my wife during our therapy. In my case, she did what was needed rather than taking an easier approach, and while I always thought she was looking out for my interests, it certainly was not comfortable being called out on mistakes I was making. Although there was improvements in my reactions to stress, sometimes I would back slide and she would quickly bring it to my attention and have me fix it, this made me much more self aware. She also provided useful career coaching, and helped me make a more informed choice among offers that I was entertaining. read more

I touched 40 and was going through the usual marital issues (more of misunderstanding each other for every other thing and fighting for no real reason) [2 kids and both working parents in this competitive Bay Area high-pressure environment]. I finally made contact with Jayn in Oct 2014. That was one of the smartest decisions I made. She met with us over the course of the next 7 months on and off giving us time to try her techniques and adapt to her thought process. At this point my wife and I are back together and are handling tough situations more gracefully. We understand each other once again as before when we married 16 years ago. So meeting Jayn was a landmark moment in our lives and learning from her a complete life changer. Hi Everyone! Guess what? Today is my Jayn Rajandran therapy graduation day! Before I began officially pursuing therapy, in 2014 I interviewed a dozen therapists. Many of them were good at making soft, sympathy eyes, nodding, and saying "yes, yessss. I see you are carrying a lot, mmmhmm...." (Uhh, no shit sherlock!) Jayn was the only therapist I interviewed who, in the very first session, laid some bold insights and radical jive on me, without holding anything back. This is why I chose her. I knew I had a ton of work to do, if I wanted to get better. I also knew I didn't have much money, and wanted to make sure that the sacrifices I was making to my wimpy non-profit paycheck, were going to pay for themselves later on. I didn't want to be coddled, or have someone just blandly reflecting back to me what I already know. (Besides, I'm kind of cocky, and well-versed in armchair psychobabble.) Jayne gave me homework assignments. She got me to meditate and keep a dream journal. Jayn is not for lazy-asses! She will make you work hard, but if you stick with her, and do the work, it will pay off a thousand times and more. When I walked into her door in 2014, I was having panic attacks, insomnia, and strange avoidant behaviors due to some earlier traumas I'd experienced. Jayn was such a great find as a friend had recommended I do EMDR treatment for some fear and anxiety issues I was facing. Jayn was very accommodating with my scheduling needs and was able to start my treatments right away. My overall treatment process took 6 months wherein we covered a variety of major topics I've struggled with during my life. I am very pleased with how efficient Jayn is with the EMDR therapy. Overall, my therapy has removed the intensity of emotions and reactions I used to feel in life, so now I am able to simply live and be happy without carrying the burden of anxiety and fear. Did a Google search and found her. I was extremely scared of therapy as it was my first time. When i called, she actually answered the phone and that was surprising to get someone to talk to. We spoke a little about my relationship issues of abandonment. She emailed all the paperwork and had an appointment the same week!!! Been in therapy for 5 weeks now and who would have thought that the very reason i was trying to get into relationships was the very reason i was running away from it. Please be prepared to work in your sessions, if you are prepared to change your patterns of behavior. If you are only into talking about your problems and wanting someone to listen to your stories, she will NOT be the person for you. She is extremely funny and makes you see your positives and capitalizes on them. She was frank in telling me the patterns that i was doing. I love her 8% vs 92% reasoning. I look forward to sessions and she made me see the urgency in loving myself first before i can love another. God sent!! read more
