3.5 Stars I ordered the regular al pastor burrito. It was decent, but not the best al pastor I've had. I wish there had been more meat, as it was mostly rice and beans, especially at the ends. Overall, it was a solid burrito. It comes with a generous handful of warm, thick chips. No pics because I ate them all on my drive home. I ordered my usual al pastor burrito, and it was pretty good overall. The beans and rice were well-seasoned, and the meat had a nice flavor to it. The only thing I would've liked more of was the meat; this burrito was a bit rice-heavy, and while the rice was tasty, I definitely would've preferred a little more of the al pastor to balance it out. I was passing by, saw nobody was waiting, just stop for a quick bite, and the food quality was surprisingly good. Asada and Lengua flavors were spot on, tortillas was soft and fresh. I would definitely stop again if pass by during meal time. read more

When you see there is always a line of Mexican people waiting for food, you know you should check out the place. I usually get their lengua tacos, and I recently tried their California burrito, I really like the crunchy fries in it my only complaint was the portion of carne asada in it, a little stingy in my opinion. Obsessed with this truck! They are parked in the same place everyday. I have had their tortas, sopas, burritos, and tacos. Everything is so flavorful and delicious. Portion sizes are generous, meat is generous, etc. Service is quick. This place is probably the best Mexican food you can get in the San Mateo area. We got: 4 tacos - Carnitas, Al pastor, Asada, and chicken 2 agua frescas (strawberry) 1 churro 1 Cali burrito 1 carne asada quesadilla Everything was amazing! The agua Fresca wasn't too sweet and didn't taste artificial. The churro was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, perfectly seasoned and super fresh. The Cali Burrito was probably my favorite. Ok so my love for taco truck originated from the one truck in front of the Walgreens in South City so I was hunkering to find a good truck near my house and luckily here it is. Man oh man I love me some tacos. First and foremost I don't do the regular chix, pork, beef stuff cuz I like my offals: ALWAYS - Tongue : super tender, will run out later in the day Tripe: crunchy, great texture, a new favorite Head: another awesome flavor, you can't miss Shrimp: hefty, thick shrimp, a good choice as well I'm always hitting it pretty close when I uber from work so I get there at about 5:30 and I'm getting my tacos and it's bliss. Close at 6pm so I've been lucky to not miss them yet. It can take a while sometime if there are people ahead of you. One time I thought it was mine but then apparently some people be waiting in their car so you'll not know how many people are ahead of you. QQ It's a 15 min walk home so my tacos ain't as hot anymore but it's still GOOD AF. Bless. read more

Just finished all of my food and rushed back to Yelp to write this review. I can't say enough good things about this place! Sorry, no pictures because everything looked too good for me to remember to take pics. I was craving tacos late last night and hopped on Yelp to find the best deal in my area for tomorrow. After looking at 5+ places, I came across Jayli's Cocina and noticed they had wet burritos and mole. I decided this was the one. Before I dive into what I got, I just want to say their burritos are FAT and their tacos have a good amount of meat. I got: 1. Burrito Mojado (wet burrito) $10 - Comes with both red and green salsa. Green salsa was sourer than other places I've tried, but I loved it! Also came with some chips. 2. Wet Mole Burrito $12 - MUST TRY! I've only tried mole one other time but the mole here was so good and the flavor was right up my alley. They do not skimp out on the sauce. Chicken was tender and not dry at all. 3. Tacos $2 each (Tried pastor, lengua, chorizo, suadero) - $2 per taco was the cheapest I could find in my area. While other places seemed to skimp out on the meat in the tacos, this place did not esp for a $2 taco. Not saying they pile it on but I think it was a good amount. Extra point for Jayli's because they did not charge extra for lengua and suadero, which almost all other places do. Ranking the ones I tried (starting from best): chorizo (so flavorful), lengua, suadero, pastor. Pastor is usually my go to and it was good here. It's just that the others were even better. :) Also wanted to mention that I'm not crazy and did not get all this food for myself LOL. I shared everything with family so I got to try a bit of everything. Great price, great food, good portions!! I came on Labor day and they were open 10am - 6pm, so I think the current hours posted on Yelp are accurate. Or at least the closing time is. I ordered through Yelp (fulfilled by GrubHub) and everything went smoothly. Got there and my order was ready. The guy who handed me the order was really nice! This truck is in 28th street and El Camino Real in San Mateo. They are there Mon-Sat. I have come here few times now, I can say that the food is great, good quality and very good taste. Prices are more than reasonable. So far I have tried: -Mole Negro: Super good, like if I was in Mexico, same taste, super good. This dish comes with rice and beans. Perfect combination. -Enchiladas de Mole Rojo: Super good too. Good presentation, great taste. -Tlayuda: It is like a mexican version of a pizza. I never tried it before in my life but I liked it. I ordered meat and chorizo, good combination. -Sopes: I ordered a chorizo sope, very good. -Churros, good too and inexpensive. I attached pictures as I know it may help. Nice people, fast service. Definitely five stars for the homemade tortilla chips! Perfect cooking, perfect amount of salt- yum. I usually only eat a couple of chips and throw them out trying to watch what I eat but not these!. When it comes to the super burrito its large, the tortilla's appreciatively super soft, however I find that you noticeably get more filling than meat. The filling however is super flavorful and moist. If you're more into the fillings than that meat protein you would probably give it five stars. However I love steak! Other than the first bite I had a hard time tasting the carne asada. I liked that it was slightly larger chunks of steak than some places, however I love the crispy char that many other places put on the steak. There's quite a bit of chunky raw onions in it which I don't mind but I think some people would have issue with. Good, convenient and filling but with so much competition out there I will probably keep looking for my perfect burrito. read more

Always good service, family ran. You can't get better than Jayli's Cocina. Almost never bite into a piece of fat with the beef or chicken. If your somebody that doesn't trust the meat that places serve, Jayli's Cocina has you covered. They also have sweets that they sell for more or less a dollar. I'll be honest, I never really pay attention to the pricing, because the ending price is always lower than I expect, even in this Covid economy. Absolutely amazing food. So the carnitas tacos was my first order and I have to admit I didnt love it. Not great but not bad so I went back a week later and ordered a steak Burrito... AMAZING. got me hooked. So good. Had that many times, got churros. .. the best ever. Then I had carne asada sopes ... possibly the best experience from a taco truck ( and that says a lot). Been wanting to try real mole, so I checked on Yelp around the area at Mexican eateries and found Jayli's Cocina. Went with the family. I ordered the black mole over chicken. The chicken was dry but the mole was really good. I liked the rich savory flavor with a hint of sweet. Looking forward to going again to try other items. Nice to have another Mexican Food Truck in the area. Food was good. Mole was good. Will need to come back and try their other menu items. Street parking is not that convenient; we found a space a block away. It was a bit breezy and cool so we decided to take our food and eat it in the Hillsdale Mall Food Court. Owner was friendly and helpful in explaining the different menu items and how his mole and cheese are different from what you get elsewhere. We are fairly new to the area and decided to try this place based on the pride other reviewers said they seemed to have in their food and the fact that their tlayudas looked pretty legit. We had high expectations since we lived in the city of Oaxaca for a few years and developed a pretty high standard of Mexican food there. We had tried a few other local Mexican food places around this area and were pretty disappointed by the lack of flavor and generic quality of food. We decided to ignore the fact that there weren't many reviews yet on either Yelp or DoorDash. We ordered through DoorDash and we received the food quickly. It was the best we have had in this area, the flavors were on point. We ordered the Burrito Mojado with carnitas, super nachos with carne asada and a super burrito with carne asada and added jalapeños inside, and everything was awesome. We also tried a carnitas taco, which was okay, not my favorite, but decent, and a churro which was really good. I don't usually bother but I had to come on to review this place. I hope they keep up the good work because as of now they have good reason to take pride in their food. We will definitely stick to this place as our go-to for Mexican food in the area. read more
