Nestled in a park surrounded by suburban area, this park is a great place to spend an hour throwing discs. With nearly all holes less than 300 ft, a great round here will net you 10 down. Not much risk, not much opportunity for trouble, the park is a good place to throw a round after work. Not quite as fun as Riverside or Brewer, Old Farm is probably the 3rd best course in the GR area. And for a littl extra challenge, try hole 18 from the top of the storage buliding located straight behind the T-pad.

A few major positives: You can play any combination of the 4 nines (Red, White, Blue, Gold), all of which offer a variety of shots. The blues are short & technical, the Red are longer field shots with the other two a mixture. Not only can you drink during the round, the majority of people are drinking. The negative: You can drink during the round, which means you could potentially get stuck behind a group, or bunch of groups more interested in drinking than discing. Brewer park is a great place to wear out your arm, with a good combined score of ~10 down on 36 holes.

More open space and longer holes with lots of elevation to play with and still has one full "in the woods" hole and a few others do have trees or bushes to shoot around. North Course is a lot more wooded. mor confusing layout as it kinda crosses over itself a few times. i got lost the first 2 times i played north. North on its own would be a 3 Star but i like South so much that it gets a 4 overall.

The park is huge! There are at least two different parking lots for the park - one is close to the first disc golf hole, and one is not. Guess which one we picked, haha. We trekked over to the first hole and started our journey. I noticed one bathroom -not sure if there were more than one but the park is so big it could maybe use a second. The Garfield Park neighborhood association office is located in the park, and there's a nice free library outside it - The Black Book Exchange Box. I loved the diversity of the titles and authors inside (I did not take any books). Parts of the park looked a little "under construction" when we were there - they are redoing the splash pad but the playground is open. The tennis courts didn't have any nets up and they were overgrown with weeds. There are shuffleboard courts but they didn't look usable. The bathroom was pretty clean and stocked with toilet paper. There are picnic tables, benches, and picnic pavilions. It was nice to see people out enjoying this neighborhood park while we were there. Parts of the park are very close to neighbors' homes, so be sure to be aware of the park boundaries. I'd say half of the disc golf course was in the shade and the rest was in full sun, so bring sunscreen and water. There are a couple of holes that are very close to the street - a few discs actually went into the street and one all the way across the road! Be careful out there. Overall it was a nice way to spend a couple hours on a sunny Sunday afternoon.

But it's a huge (27.92 acres) oasis on the northeast side of GR. I'm always amazed at how big the park is when I visit. The lawns are kept up nicely and there is a group of neighbors who pick up trash in the park to keep it nice for visitors and residents. The park has lots of amenities, including picnic tables (recently repainted during a community beautifying project), splash pad, playground, parking lot, grills, and a beautiful garden with native pollinators. The grounds of the park are really nice to walk around and I saw lots of people walking their dogs. I would like to bring a picnic here in the summer as there's plenty of space to spread out as well as picnic tables available. The park is super kid friendly especially with the splash pad (although I would not be opposed to using it myself during the hot summer months). I am so happy to have such a wonderful park right in my own neighborhood and I encourage everyone to check it out, or at least find the park closest to you!

They have a play gym where little kids can play around. There are little ponds that surround the paved pathway where geese and ducks flock around. The pavement was nice - no complaints! There were also cute cute bridges you would walk over. I went on a Thursday early afternoon in the winter and there weren't many people walk around it. There are many trees outlining alongside the paved pathway, so I can only imagine how beautiful this park is during early fall and spring! I enjoyed the river alongside the pathway as well. Cute park to take your kids and of dogs, go running, or just for a nice walk!

I recently visited Johnson Park for disc golf - well, Nate and our friend disc golfed, I just…read more"hiked" the course with them. It was a super sunny and hot spring day, so the park was pretty busy with a lot of people looking to enjoy the sunshine. The parking lot got full after we arrived - not sure if there is overflow parking available. I can't really speak to the difficulty of the course for playing, but it is super hilly and made for a sweaty hike around for a couple of hours for me. There's not a ton of shade as many of the holes are out in a massive field. The areas in the woods are shadier but seems like it would be pretty easy to lose a disc in there. It's not very accessible - some of the holes in the woods are accessed by stairs with no ramping available. The park itself is huge and sprawling, with the majority of people playing disc golf. The course signage was good for 2/3 of the course - a few of the later holes didn't have the "next hole" sign directing you where to go. There are apps you can use that help with this. There is another park of Johnson Park that includes picnic areas, an open shelter, the historic shelter for events, ball diamonds, restrooms, playgrounds, and a winter sledding hill. There are trails to walk in this area as well.

It's one of the worst courses I've ever seen and I imagine it was designed by someone who knows nothing about disc golf. The holes are interspersed between the campus' baseball fields, parking lots, and buildings. The chances of you hitting a car or throwing a disc into a baseball game in progress is nearly 100%. My friends and I couldn't even figure out where the first hole started and ended up leaving before hitting a single hole. We got lots of very strange looks from students and faculty as if to say we didn't belong there (which technically we didn't because it's supposed to be students only, but the vibe was weird, as if someone would actually call the cops). Do not go here.
