It's huge, with a big pond, two playgrounds, tennis courts, pool, basketball court, picnic tables, table tennis table, and more. I think people sled at this park in the winter, too! The pavilion was really nice, with attached bathrooms, a prep area, fridge, tables, and chairs. The space was a good size for the party of 30 people or so. The parking lot is a short walk from the pavilion. I liked the patio area overlooking the pond, and all the kids at the party loved the playgrounds! There was a grassy area outside where we set up cornhole. It's $45 per hour to rent the pavilion, with a minimum of 2 hours. Not bad! I'm so glad we got to experience this park and would definitely come back to relax and go for a walk!

I find the rentals to be incredibly fair and affordable with a 3 hour rental costing $8. You will need a form of payment and license for rentals fyi. Staff is friendly and helpful. Even available to take the time to help you Don on your skis outside. The trails are well groomed and lit. Many people participating from all different level experiences. People are generally kind and respectful. Trails are clearly marked with easy, moderate and difficult trails. The difficulty is never more than the equivalent of a bunny hill. The lodge is super cozy and has indoor and outdoor door fireplaces to warm up at. They have a cafe for warm drinks and some various forms of chilli. I chose to have mine in the form of a chili dog for $2.25. Drinks are also reasonably priced, I bought two cappuccinos for $3.25. They have maps and only some of the trails are lit so take care of noting those if you choose to night ski. Enjoy and have fun!! There are many trees outlining alongside the paved pathway, so I can only imagine how beautiful this park is during early fall and spring! I enjoyed the river alongside the pathway as well. There are several small lakes, one of which has a beach and other activities such as paddle boats. There are two different entrances to the park, which helps spread visitors out on really busy days like weekends. On the Secchia Meadows side, there is a nice pavillon where my friends had their wedding. I highly recommend Millennium Park for anyone who enjoys spending time outdoors, spotting creatures such as deer, turtles, muskrats, eagles, and more.

So when I stepped…read moreup to the check-in counter at Millennium Park Boat Rentals, the thoughts in my head were: Wow! It only costs $8 per hour to rent a kayak? Sweet! Wow! These people checking me in and telling me safety information are incredibly young! Will they be able to save me and my family if our kayaks flip over and we fall into the lake? Wow! What a beautiful day! But I wonder how often people fall into the lake. I also wonder how deep the lake is. I also wonder if it's possible to be trapped underwater if your kayak flips over. In the end, I decided to kick it on the sandy beach and wave at my family as they happily paddled on the lake. They had a great time kayaking. I had a great time not kayaking. Like Hot Chocolate says: Everyone's a winner, baby. Kayaks are either single-person or double, and we used one of each. There are very few instructions given, which was a little alarming to me. (You mean you just assume we know what we're doing?!) But fortunately, my family knew what they were doing, so they didn't need much instruction to get themselves out on the water. As you paddle around the lake, you pass the Millennium Park beach and splash pad, plus little islands here and there. There is about four miles of shoreline to explore. I was told that the lake was nice and calm, and that it was a pleasant time on the water. We rented kayaks, but Millennium Park Boat Rentals also offers canoes, paddle boats and stand-up paddle boards to rent. Keep in mind that rentals are seasonal -- this place is only open from Memorial Day-ish to Labor Day-ish.

Highland Park is located in my neighborhood but I don't think I'm biased when I say it's one of the…read morebest parks in the city! Okay, maybe a little biased. But it's a huge (27.92 acres) oasis on the northeast side of GR. I'm always amazed at how big the park is when I visit. The lawns are kept up nicely and there is a group of neighbors who pick up trash in the park to keep it nice for visitors and residents. The park has lots of amenities, including picnic tables (recently repainted during a community beautifying project), splash pad, playground, parking lot, grills, and a beautiful garden with native pollinators. The grounds of the park are really nice to walk around and I saw lots of people walking their dogs. I would like to bring a picnic here in the summer as there's plenty of space to spread out as well as picnic tables available. The park is super kid friendly especially with the splash pad (although I would not be opposed to using it myself during the hot summer months). I am so happy to have such a wonderful park right in my own neighborhood and I encourage everyone to check it out, or at least find the park closest to you!

You have to pay to use the beach area & sprayground, put the playground area is huge and free. The beach area can get very crowded on weekends during the summer, so I stick to going mid-morning during the week, packing a lunch to enjoy there & then heading home for naptime. The grounds are very well maintained and there are very nice picnic shelters you can use. There is also a sand volleyball court and a walking/bike riding trails along a series of small man-made lakes. Last summer I didn't know that you could purchase an annual family pass for $40 until the summer was half over. I'll be going that route this year--we live only 10 minutes from the park and it's a welcome change of scenery for my kids, so I'm sure we'll be going almost one a week or every other week during the summer.

We love the parent and child swings although one of them are super squeaky. There was so much to do with this park. We saw people playing basketball on the super nice courts. We saw disc golfers. They were other kids at the playground, even at dusk. It was very close to a residential neighborhood, but everybody seems super nice. I think there was a dog park too? It was huge so we didn't explore the park very much because it was dusk and we needed the kids to get some energy out. My kids asked to go back when they woke up today out of all the things we're doing, so it's definitely memorable!!
