We had 25 boys plus our coaching staff, and everyone at The Place was welcoming, accommodating, and patient with our group. As caoches, we wanted to give the boys a night away from football where the could compete, laugh, build relationships, and just enjoy being kids. The palace gave us the perfect environment to do that. The boys had an absolute blast, and they ere still talking about the competition afterwards. What meant even more was receiving an email afterwards thelling us that our boys were welcome back anytime and complinenting then on how well they behaved. As coaches trying to develop these young men beyond football, that meant a lot to us. Thank you to Joseph and everyone at the Place for taking care of our team last minute request. We will definitely be back!

Lanes are fast. They really take care to maintain the lanes. Hardly ever any issues with pin resets. Love that you can gage your speed too. On one side of the building can hear the music. The other side is older. Quieter. Calmer side to practice on. It can get crowded on Thursdays so definitely reserve a lane. Just be careful of the children that are bowling too. Their spatial awareness isn't always the best. Also a lot of kids during the school year. Be prepared for erratic activity and sounds. It can really break your concentration sometimes. Overall, though, it is a pretty good place to bowl.

Although most people with celiac disease are aware of what they can and cannot eat, it's really nice to see a country club go the extra mile and make their gluten-free guests more comfortable when selecting a meal. Moving on to golf. Even as a guest of a member at the club, I have always felt welcome on the driving range and taken care of by staff when picking out left-handed clubs to use.

There is also a snack bar, but I couldn't find a list of what they offered, except for the ice cream flavors. The ice cream was great but the popcorn wasn't and was over priced. The Gil Hanse designed course played much more difficult than the course rating. The hilly terrain yields many blind tees shots and obstructed shots to the greens. There was much movement on the greens-some of it not quite fair. Hanse developed this course after Inniscrone in southern chester county. That course was a controversial layout and Hanse surprisingly repeated some of the same (mistakes) here. Overall, a must play course that will have you shaking your head.

The staff upon arrival quickly meets you at the bag drop or if you're like me, missed that sign and they ran out to me at my truck. The clubhouse looks french country which makes sense, and the high ceilings of the men's locker room are incredible. The pro shop is stocked with premium brands and even Johnnie O gear which is cool! The course was playing a lot longer for us that day since it had rained a ton the day earlier but the conditions were superb. Tees, fairways and bunkers especially were spectacular. The rough was rough and when I got way off line it got rougher but that's expected based upon where I was! Greens are immaculate. I will say that the practice green on our day was quicker than the course greens, so that took a hole to get used to. Playing the tips left us with some serious challenges out there. Don't let the card yardage of just shy of 6600 fool you, it plays closer to 6900 because of the uphill plays to many greens. Also, if you don't score wel your first time, it's because of the greens, they take a little knowledge that none of the guys in my group had but thankfully we had a caddy to really help guide us! We're all long hitters in our group and he adjusted for our distance admirably once he saw it fly, I think our caddy was an asset to our enjoyment of the day! So why not the 5 stars you're wondering? Well, once we were all finished it's time for drinks on the fabulous outside deck overlooking 18 green, and our bartender seemed seriously disinterested in our party of 8. I ordered a pulled pork which was very good and very fresh but was more of an italian beef style with peppers and onions and spinach, I think it was spinach, I didn't read the menu unfortunately but was told that this was a quick sandwich. The views were great, the course was fabulous, the outside services was fantastic, but the last interaction we had was with a seemingly grumpy bartender and that tarnishes an otherwise special day.

Axe throwing is one of those fun things from Yelp Elite Event's past that I've been craving to do…read moreagain for awhile now. Going to the Malvern location of Splitting Edge (review coming in the not too distant future) for a fun Halloween party scratched the itch for me, but as my gf and I talked with our circle of friends we realized we weren't the only ones craving throwdown. While we were looking forward to going to the Malvern location again, when we learned that only the Pottstown location had availability for the Friday night we were looking to book, we chalked it up as an opportunity to explore the area beforehand and make a good evening of it. And from seeing the awesome lumberjack inspired mural art that my friend Alloyius Mcilwaine painted downstairs, to playing three very different and hella fun rounds of axe throwing team games, to ending the evening by striking poses within their Game of Thrones-inspired wooden throne, it proved to be one of the most fun game nights I've had in awhile! Back in the day, I used to do pretty good with my throwing, but when I started out the evening I was having some off moments which I just chalked up to me being rusty. But our ax expert for the evening, Will, watched my throwing like a hawk, grabbed me an ax with a longer handle to use, and showed me some pointers that had me getting near bullseye shots in no time. Since it's a BYOB spot we also brought some crowlers for the brewery next door after we learned that they didn't do to-go cans only to realize that we also had no cups. But the friendly staff was quick to provide them for us. Doing those things and even giving us a little more time to throw after our session ended were just some of the ways that their team went above and beyond to accommodate our crew. At first, I thought the traditional play where the first team to get a certain amount of points without going over would have been my favorite game of the night. But then for the second they busted out the balloons on the board and gave us the chance to either lose points by bursting our balloons or to sabotage the other team's game by bursting their balloons to have them lose points. The third game of snakes and ladders was a little trickier to follow but also made for a fun time. Overall it was a great time that really scratched my itch and left me ready for another throwdown!

Overbrook golf club is a fantastically maintained country club with a superbly challenging golf…read morecourse. Upon arriving at Overbrook you get that classic country club feel from the slow drive on the driveway showing you the course to arriving at the magnificent classic clubhouse. You're greeted with friendly helping hands ready to help you enjoy your day at the club. The course plays to a somewhat distinctive 2 nines. The front has some elevation change but you can mostly see what's out there from the tee but the back 9, you need to see that at least once before to have any chance. The tees are in perfect condition and perfectly level. The 10th tee is especially fun since it's a par 3 right next to the Clubhouse so it garners some watchers in the afternoons. The fairways meander throughout the somewhat tight layout with a few fairways completely invisible from the tee. The 13th and 14th are kind of hokey with their completely blind short tee shots to a 90degree dogleg right fairway. 13, long is water, 14, long is trees but the 14th gets funky when you play sharply downhill with a 100 yard shot over water, I've never seen anything like it with the exception of the short par 3 on Merion's west course. Hitting the green with a wedge is even a challenge since you generate so much spin, it's hard to hold the green! The practice green doesn't offer you many straight putts, similar to the greens on the course, but it does play true to the greens on the course and the range feels compact but you'll still need 250 in the air to reach the back netting. Lots of little chipping targets to practice those short wedges too which is nice! The staff everywhere is very friendly, always ready to offer a helping hand. Hanging around the stunningly maintained property is a treat. Plenty of beautiful flowers everywhere and lots of outdoor seating for folks to look out over the 18th green at the rest of the back 9. Honestly, Overbrook is a challenging test that I don't think would ever get old!

The staff was very accommodating couldn't do enough for us. Even gave us rides from the entrance to the parking lot. I would definitely go there again. The decor is first rate. Even the floor is gorgeous. The food was particularly delicious.
