At Jay Hood Wright Park, you can get this shot of the George Washington Bridge which connects NJ and NY

On this Friday before July 4th, I wanted to check out a film location from the movie In the Heights. Surprisingly, this pleasant park in Washington Heights is nicely landscaped with a flower garden, an athletic field, a grassy area with granite where people can play. At the film location, there were some homeless people there who were quite vocal, but they stayed their distance which allowed us to take tons of photos.

This is an awesome park tucked in adjacent to the George Washington Bridge. You have amazing views of the bridge from inside this harmonious little Green spot.

This place makes me wish I was a kid again.

I work across the street from this park and from my office window I found myself gazing into the park more times than once. The sights and sounds were calling my name and I had to visit. The jungle gym actually resembles the George Washington Bridge which is a stone's throw away from the park. The grounds are clean and very well maintained. Trash receptors are readily available and easily accessible. Have you heard the expression that the "grass is always greener on the other side ", well this is the other side. The grass is always green here and well manicured. I have visited at different times throughout the day and there is always a staff from Parks and Recreation somewhere within the vicinity. There are basketball courts not too far from the childrens play yard area but far enough to keep the children secure and safe. My after school participants brought out the yoga mats and enjoyed yoga in the park on the grassy knolls. Parks and recreation also have several free programs throughout the week for the community. There's also a fenced in dog park. What are you waiting for...Come thru!

Dogs love this park! Especially when it first snows and very early in the morning when dogs can unofficially roam free park wide

My favorite midsize park. Playground, older folks, exercise groups, dog parks, kids smooching in hidden corners, leaf composting...this park has a little of everything. Love the pastelito salesladies in the summer. Love the sport grounds. LOVE the lookout -- in all weather! It is truly amazing in clouds, in rain, in sun, at sunset -- must go to the north west corner and check that out. Even the folks who clean the park are so nice! Excellent destination. I am moving soon but will miss it terribly and will certainly visit when I am on breaks from class just around the corner. Tips: Early in the morning dogs can be off leash unofficially. Be mindful of some non fixed dogs that go to the dog park with stubborn owners.

Roy's Top 5 Things to Know: 1. You're allowed to bbq in select grassy areas here. 2. There's a dog run within the park. 3. There are special events here in the summer. 4. There is a playground reflective of the GWB, there are handball courts, basketball courts, sprinklers, baseball play area (concrete), swings, sandbox, and a polls for you to set up a volleyball game. 5. This park has stunning views of the GWB.

View of the park open space.

Stunning park with a great view of the GWB and a dog friendly park with a fenced in area toward the back so you can let the little pups off the leash for a bit to tire them out. Occasionally you'll see a few sun bathers, but there's a fair amount of trees there so it's not an overabundance.

But Madison Square will always be my favorite. It's kept fairly clean and is a nice size. Mostly for the working professionals and students in the area, it's an awesome spot to eat lunch, with a great food selection in Flat Iron. It's home to the OG Shake Shack, which stands there til this day. There is also an awesome dog park there. This park is great at all times of the year, so don't hesitate to go now.

It also hosts some public art exhibits, like one in the park through March 29, 2026 - Larry Bell: "Improvisations in the Park." My husband and I walked through the park a couple of times when we stayed in the neighborhood this past weekend. We spent our time walking through the park on one occasion to see the works included in the Larry Bell exhibit. Overall, a fine park for a walk through as a tourist, but probably more of a park for locals to enjoy the outdoors, dog run, and playground. In warmer weather, it's a nice park to sit and enjoy the sunshine or even grab lunch (from the Shake Shack in the park).

We were on our 4th game of 5 on 5 on this slanted, slippery court with double rims as the Midtown skyline looked over us. We had gone 3-0 and already on wobbly legs but wanted one more to really push ourselves to exhaustion and be WHOOPED. A group of 5 17 year olds showed up and I was lowkey like damn I don't wanna play these little kids for our last game but whatever, they got next. We were going back and forth, and to be fair they were actually pretty good but just too frail to give us any problems. At 5'10 174 lbs, I'm a BIG guard. I'm left handed, but shot a right handed floater fading to my right as I'm trying to get better. If you can hit a weak hand floater on the run you will be tough to stop. I bricked it and this little 17 year old kid goes "that's a TERRIBLE shot" looking at me dead in the eyes. Like bro y'all are losing and you suck why you talking? He woke me up and I started actually trying really hard and lowkey busting their ass... but tbh normally I'm not even that good. It was just one of those days where everything was falling. I hit a 3 and yelled out "THAT'S A LAYUP." I drove hard left, euro stepped and hit a tough finish through 2 and yelled "I"M TOO BIG," while flexing. I switched onto little homie and he took a terrible stepback shot after I turned him 3 times and bricked it. I just whispered to him "I don't even gotta say nothing after that one it speaks for itself" which really pissed him off. Then I hit the game winning 3 and did the Dame wave to him as he walked off the court PISSED as hell. I sat down and then he got the courage to say "STOP TALKING SO MUCH" while he put his hand together to mimic me YAPPING. I almost stood up and said "HOW BOUT U GET WIN?" But then I realized I'm a grown ass man and there is absolutely no reason to be jawing at this little kid on a beautiful Friday in New York City. I just kind of laughed at myself and asked what is wrong with me lol. All in all, these runs were kind of weak and this court is in horrendous condition. The court on the westside highway is still my favorite in the city. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov_reviews

St. & Broadway New York, NY 10001 The Bucket Located in the Herald Square Holiday Market adjacent to Macy's is a chocolate chip cookie kiosk. This secret recipe was handcrafted by food influencer Ian Martin and Hungry Gnome bakery owner Danielle Sepsy. All cookies are freshly baked on the spot in these cookie ovens. An entire batch is immediately scooped up with a french fry scooper and handed off for your enjoyment. The Bucket: The primary ingredients in these cookies are all butter, brown sugar, and premium Callebaut chocolate. As soon as you try your first one, you will be far from done. They are warm and crispy on the outside while gooey on the inside. As a bonus, the holiday themed visual design on the bucket was hand drawn by Ian's sister. There is a decent amount of seating at the holiday market for you to enjoy your dessert. Be sure to arrive early because Ian's cookies are immensely popular and they will sell out.
