I love it when accidents happen, especially when they turn out to be good. My wife accidentally discovered this on our way passing by here and we decided to check it out. We were hungry so we went in and tried one of the burritos and the Bombay sandwich, both of which were absolutely amazing. After having those, we decided, "You know what? Let's just grab something from here for dinner," so we ordered a vegetable Manchurian. Manchurian is something I don't typically order. It's not my favorite, but my wife loves it so I went along with it and some sauce. The Manchurian was actually so good that I would have it right here again. The samosas were pretty darn good. They were fresh, and the exterior was perfect and crisp. The masala inside was mild and light. It was still not the kind I really like, but the flavor was still better than some of the recent ones I've had at other places. A day or two later, we went again and this time got one of their cheese toasts with bell peppers, cheese, etc. That was pretty good too. Turns out their wrap is not Mumbai- or Bombay-based, but something from Ahmedabad in India, which explains the buttery goodness on the pav. Jay Bhavani is a great spot for Mumbai and Gujarati street food. The entire menu is vegetarian, and every dish we tried was packed with flavor. Today was our first time in here. We had Indian food, but never street food so didn't know what to expect. The lady who is helping us at the register was amazing. She walked us through the menu explaining everything. I have a onion allergy and she told me all my options that I can have without onions so I went with the panner vadapav. The flavors were magical. Since I couldn't have a dosa with stuff in it, she gave me a free plain dosa and made a sauce with no onions so I could try it and see how it it was since I've never had one before. It was excellent. I was curious to try Jay Bhavani based on what I had seen on Instagram and that they serve Indian vegetarian street food. My family and I went here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. Their were a couple of groups of people but the restaurant was not busy. The restaurant looked clean and inviting. The staff was friendly. The ordering was counter service style. We took our time ordering as they had a decent variety on the menu. The menu pricing was somewhere between moderate - pricey. We ordered one of their Vada Pav, one of their Pav Bhaji, one of the Sev Puri, and one of the Thandai milkshake. The food came out promptly. I had the Vada Pav first as there what I came to eat here. It was decent. It lacked the typical spicy flavor though. Then, I dug into the Pav Bhaji. The portion size was okay but could've been better for the price they charge. The buttered Pav (bun) was nicely toasted. The flavor of the bhaji, which had certain assorted vegetables, was just okay. It was mild in taste and could use better masala for the dish it is. Actually, my parent's preparation is much better. The Sev Puri was delicious and I liked it. It's a good filling snack. The best item was the Thandai milkshake. It was nicely sweet and perfect to wash down the spicy and savory meal. Thandai is usually made with a mixture of almonds, fennel seeds, watermelon kernels, rose petals, pepper, poppy seeds, cardamom, saffron, milk and sugar. Overall, I had an okay experience. I wasn't really wowed by anything to rave about and go back anytime soon. Except for the Thandai drink which I have not had before, I have had all the items elsewhere which tasted better. Went to the Jay Bhavani outlet with really high hopes as it's a all time favorite in Gujarat for Dabeli. People who have had it there would know. But it was a BIG let down. Everything is self service for a dine in experience. So the experience is more like the mall food stall. One can ignore this if the food taste matches the expectations of the brand. However there's a wide scope of improvement. Weirdly my friends from Atlanta had a similar experience. So maybe it's the chain setup overall that needs a review. My husband loves the vadapav at Jay Bhavani, and he would always ask me to stop by to pick 1 or 2 home. I don't think we've tried anything else here besides the vadapav, but it definitely keeps him coming back for more. He says it's authentic and reminds him of the ones in India. The restaurant is open style and moderately sized. You order at the counter. and the food takes about 10mins to make. There really isn't much service, which is pretty typical of an Indian street food restaurant. I gave it 4 stars since we haven't tried anything else here. read more

Summary: not good. WAY OVERPRICED. It will go out of business soon. Hope not, but too many better places around here. Ambiance: I think they are going for the whole Indian street food experience here. I'm not sure if that's a good thing. I went in around 1:00 in the afternoon, and there were a couple people dining in. The floor looked like they just ripped off the previous dunkin floors and just left them that way. A massive amount of tables for dine in, but to be honest, I don't think the quality or value of the food could fill up 3 tables. For a fairly new restaurant, this place looked dingy and dirty and cheap. Food: I wish this place was at cheap as it looks. But nope. The cheese vadapav was around $6. That's just highway robbery. Especially because it was so spicy it was inedible. The only saving grace was some pre packaged sauce they had. The same sandwich is about $2 at Patel Bros down the street and probably more fresh. $6??? Nah. It shouldn't be half that price. And the pani puri. $9 for 9 pieces. Literally $1 per piece. For that price, it better be filled to the brim with all kinds of stuffing. But nope. It was maybe 20% full each with potatoes and barely any chikpeas. The pani itself was ok. But $1 each? No way. I am trying to find something positive about this place but I can't. I really can't. With no many street food options within 5 minutes of this place, there is no way this restaurant survives. Ordered for a sandwich and got a toast. It should be as toast on the menu and not sandwich because it just defeats the whole purpose of sandwich! I would like to give negative five star because of their food qualify and customer service! I have order Ragda chaat and when the order is came. Ragda chat without Potato cutlet. When I asked the manager, he was totally rude and telling me that it doesn't come with potato cutlet and it's not restaurant fault. As per their website , it comes with pototo cutlet which shown in the attached screenshot. When I asked for the refund, he refused to give and they can't do anything on that. Absolutely horrendous experience!! As someone who grew up in India and ate Indian street food all the time, I cannot say the food here was good by any means. I think they brought all the spices and dumped in their food to call it flavor. Firstly, 50% of the items on the menu are not available. I wonder why they put it on their menu. Granted it's a newer restaurant but this is just unprofessional. Next, we ordered veg fried rice with veg manchurian. Fried rice came first and half hour later, manchurian was brought. We asked them to bring all at once to which the server said, it can't be possible! The fried rice was extremely spicy. We could barely eat it! Veg Manchurian wasn't as terrible. Schezwan noodles were probably the spiciest I have ever had. And not in a good way. It tasted little like the Maggie masala plus some added crap lol. My mom ordered dahi puri and it was a joke. They gave 5 puris with a drop of yogurt and chutney in each puri. What a disaster!! My husband ordered choley paratha and oh lord! The paratha was hard and could not be bent. My husband asked for a replacement which they obliged, only to bring in the same exact kind. The samosa chat was decent but again, it could be better. Overall, I think the price was exorbitant for what we had and how long we waited for everything to come (an hour). I don't see this place holding on for too long as there are multiple great restaurants in the same area that deliver better food quality and service. read more
