Jawani in Croydon park is a nicely set up neighbourhood gem. The walls are painted with colourful murals and the tables have gold patterned table cloths. The service provided by the owner Gary is welcoming and friendly. Not to mention the had a great music playlist for improved ambiance. The chef at Jawani also served up some quality Punjabi cusine.
The mixed meat platter is a good way to start, with a super tasty lamb chops, chicken tika, vege samosa and pakora's and a serving of freshly made raita. The curries were all top notch, rich and full of flavour and you can choose the spice level. The goat curry was a favourite, the palak paneer was more-ish and and of course we had the obligatory naan bread to mop up any left over sauce, we opted for garlic.
Make sure you save some room for dessert. I know they aren't traditional Indian desserts, heck there is nothing Indian about a sizzling chocolate brownie or a white chocolate mousse with mango. But this did not faze us, despite being pretty full from the preceding delectables, we still managed to polish off these tasty desserts.
A great Indian restaurant serving generous portions of quality food. The pricing is also reasonable with all mains under $20 and, as an added bonus they do BYO, so grab a nice bottle of wine and pay them a visit. read more
