Not sure if that's usual for a Sunday night but it worked in my favor. Placed my order and paid. Chose to sit outside, it was a nice night. Though the table is next to the road, it was a fairly quiet evening. Food was brought out within 10 minutes or so. Everything was hot. The naan was soft and pillowy. Rice was the perfect texture. The butter chicken was so good. And the sauce was just the perfect thickness. Also, I love when restaurants give a carafe of water so I don't have to ask for refills every 10 seconds.

I ordered the Patak Curry with rice for $10 which was really very good. Excellent flavor. My son (17) ordered the lemon grass chicken curry and he surprised me by not only ordering something I've never seen him eat (he's from Utah, USA), hell, he loved it, too!!!! As a side, we had the fish and chips. I know right? Odd offering from an Indian joint, but it was fantastic. Prices were right on par with everything else we've been trying. Granted, we aren't very high maintenance eaters, so it was all around the $10/ dish range, and with the currency conversion it worked out to about $8 US. They take credit cards, too. The service was great. They were pleasant and patient with our indecision about what we wanted. This being our last night in Brisbane we likely won't be seeing Masala Art again, but I'm damned happy we got to enjoy it once.

They actually have Chicken and Prawn Pakora's, not just the normal onion as well. The mushroom chicken and the beef sultan have got to be on your list to try, because the beef just disintegrates in your mouth and the spices are so so dainty you just want to keep eating them even when you're really really full. For breads, the naan and the roti for the wholemeal eaters are a great partner to your curry. Wouldn't really recommend going to the toilets there, it's kind of outside in a shed.

Then you think 'I'll just get takeaway' but you can't face the greasy, ignorant teenagers that are never happy to see you at Macca's or another family meal deal totally lacking in any nutritional value.. Well - guess what! Sultans Kitchen at Clayfield have amazing food that tastes good, is good for you (well better than Macca's anyways) and all available through a convenient drive-thru - Yay!!! The mixed grill is my pick of the menu. You get three different varieties of shish, creamy mashed potato, rice, turkish bread, dip and salad - Yummo! If you're dining in (which I highly recommend the decor is just beautiful) I recommend the Mushroom Sote. This vegetarian dish is absolutely delightful. A bowl full of tender mushrooms sauteed in a rich tomato and herb sauce and served with a side of rice - good for the soul.

When we were planning our Brisbane, Australia trip, my dad read somewhere that there is a large Indian population in Brisbane so the food there is authentic and very tasty. Of course, we are always down for a good Indian meal so we walked just a few blocks from the Queen Street Mall to Indian Mehfil and got ready to indulge. We arrived there a little after 5:30pm but because it's almost winter in the southern hemisphere the sun had already set and it felt much later. The restaurant looked much fancier than we were dressed but being the hungry folks we were, we didn't let that deter us. After being greeted by the very friendly staff we found our table and looked at the menu. Of course there was quite a bit of curries to choose from and being as hungry as we were we wanted to try everything. In the end we settled on the butter chicken with a side of garlic and cheese naan bread and the lamb vindaloo (they also had a kids' menu and our less adventurous girls chose the chicken strips). You know it's going to be a good meal when upon taking our order, the waiter asks, "How hot do you want it? Medium, hot, or Indian hot?" We wisely chose medium which offered more than enough kick for us. The food came out fairly quickly and the portions were very generous. In fact, the waiter advised us that one order was probably enough to share with two people and he was very correct. Even the kids meal was big enough for both girls. Overall, it was a very, very good meal. The food was very hearty and very well seasoned. Our lamb vindaloo had large chucks of tender lamb and I almost couldn't eat all of it (almost). And the butter chicken sauce was so good you could have just poured it over the rice and that would have been plenty. The prices were very good considering the exchange rate and the fact that you could share an entree. If I'm ever in Brisbane again, this place is definitely on my list of places to eat.

However, they have everything they need to be a booming success. The fit out is beautiful, much more glamorous than your standard Indian restaurant, the service is friendly and the beer list is very impressive. But where Indian Mehfil really shines is the food! Delectable curries and amazing flavours that left us full to bursting, and still coming back for more. Personal highlights were the eggplant curry and butter chicken, with special mention to the keema naan. Indian Mehfil may struggle to find its customers initially. But once found, I'm certain they'll keep returning. As will I.

We're happy we picked Klay Oven; the food was delicious. I chose Klay because of the two previous 5-star reviews and we were not disappointed. This family owned and run BYO restaurant has been in business for 1.5 years. It has eight 2- and 4-person tables inside (that can be joined for groups), plus outdoor seating. Indian music is playing at a good volume, and although ambiance was maybe a tiny bit lacking (it doesn't claim to be a fancy dining venue anyway, so it's ok), the food and the service more than made up for it. The menu has a ton of choices, so we needed some help. "Mom" was brought over and pointed out some favorites and specialties, explained the taste and spiciness scale, and patiently answered our questions. For our group of five, we settled on two starters: - Amritsari Machhi (deep fried marinated fish) - Chicken 65 (deep fried chicken, then coated in a sauce with tamarind flavor - not an actual ingredient), four mains: - Malai Kofta (veg) - White coconut chicken curry - Chicken Jhalfrezi (memories for one in our group growing up in...London!) - Lamb Korma, two bowls of absolutely delicious Kashmiri Pulao rice, and some Naan breads. Our favorites were... Everything? Well, the naan bread was naan bread (a bit more dense/ less crispy than 'normal' - I liked it a lot, but that sentiment was not shared by everyone in our group); everything else was quite unique. The Amritsari Machhi was really special (5 pieces of good fish and very tasty batter - not fatty at all). All our mains had something unique to them. We ordered one spicy, one medium, and two mild. The mild ones had fantastic flavor; not at all "bland" like you often get in other restaurants. We were warned that, when compared to other restaurants, the mild was medium and medium hot, but we liked all. The hot Jhalfrezi wasn't outrageously so, the medium Chicken Curry and the mild Korma had a good bite to them (and great flavours); the mild Kofta was simply fantastic. We loved it all, could not pick a 'winner', and will go back for dine in, and for take away. Our bill came down to $28 per person, which we found beyond reasonable considering we were stuffed and enjoyed a lot of different dishes. We managed to clean all plates and bowls on the table, but if you're happy with a smaller meal, one curry, one rice and some naan bread would likely just suffice for 2 people.
