Wow! We can't stop looking at our wedding photos! I was first introduced to Jason's photography a few years ago. As soon as I saw his work, I told my now-husband that if we were to ever get married, I would want no one else but Jason to shoot our wedding. We got engaged last year and were not sure about what kind of wedding we wanted. Long story short, we finally decided (almost on a whim) to elope at the Old Orange County Courthouse in downtown Santa Ana. We felt really good about our decision and kept it secret from our family and friends but we both knew we wanted to make sure that we had photographs to capture the memories from our special day. My husband called Jason, and with very little notice, we managed to make our schedules work. He agreed not only to shoot our elopement but also to be our sole witness. Jason is a total gentleman and made us feel comfortable and completely at ease. He's punctual, polite and extremely professional. Even though our ceremony was free of all the frills of a traditional wedding, his photographs transformed an ordinary Tuesday at a somewhat drab courthouse into something really special and magical for us. We were searching for a wedding photographer with an artistic, non-traditional eye. Found Jason through IG hashtags, and instantly realized he was going to be our photographer. The contact was simple; and, to our luck, he was available. He emailed our contract, and we locked in our expectations. The session pricing, we felt, was well worth it and fair. You cannot go bargain hunting for a photographer, right? The day of, Jason was setup and ready when I arrived. Very polite and straightforward. We began my shoot because my bride was arriving later. Not the worst photos we have ever seen taken of us, but definitely not what we had hoped for our wedding day - made requests of specific shots and locations of the wedding site I wanted to have done. Showed Jason photos of poses I wanted to capture. None of these were taken - Photos of grandparents on the groom's side were not taken. There are absolutely no photographs of my spouse's grandparents at our wedding. Numerous family members were not captured. Jason did such amazing job photographing 2 of my cousins' weddings that I continued to follow his blog for years knowing that one day I wanted him to be the one to photograph my wedding. That day finally came and I was needless to say, excited to finally get to work with him. Trying to keep to my research like nature, I wanted to give other photographers a chance as well. My wife and I loved working with Jason as our wedding photographer for our April 2012 wedding. Everything about our experience was top-notch and beyond our highest expectations, including the photos, the wedding album, and -- most importantly -- how easy and fun it was to work with Jason and his associates. After scouring the internet in search for the PERFECT photographer for our wedding, my fiance and I found Jason Q Tran's work, and we were both INSTANTLY impressed. He made us feel completely comfortable during our first meeting and we ended up sitting with him chatting about so much more than photography or weddings. Before you knew it, hours had passed. His online portfolio only shows a small fraction of his work. You have to meet with him and see more of his work, you'll be happy you did. He has a different eye for pictures and makes the process fun. He goes so far above and beyond your cookie cutter wedding photographers. His assistant and second photographer he brought with him were also so easy to work with and also made us completely comfortable. I HIGHLY recommend the Q-Booth instead of your normal photo booth. He sets up a backdrop and has a ton of fun props and just shoots away. It's not just a camera on a tri-pod either, he's moving around and catching different angles for each picture. Every picture is printed out right away, you get a link of all the pictures posted online and you get all the pictures on a disc shortly after. Jason was very professional and willing to adapt to different situations. He had a variety of ideas for our engagement photos location. We went to a place he suggested (HB channel by PCH and Brookhurst) and the pictures came out beautiful. If you are looking for a top notch artist and not a regular photographer, then you have found it in Jason. As an amateur photographer, I can appreciate the fact that he doesn't rely heavily on photography gimmicks and equipment. His photos take natural lighting and ambient lighting into major consideration. He uses the shadows, with heavy influences from chiaroscuro paintings, to shape his subjects in flattering ways. His photo compositions are spectacular. He composes his images in a fashion that accounts for background and foreground lines. He also uses shadows and reflected images in such a unique manner that his subjects almost render themselves out of the photo frame. The powerful imagery unfolds in a manner that not only flatters the subject but it tells a powerful story. I found him a few years ago after well-known photographer Zach Arias reviewed Jason's web-blog. The positive review of Jason's webpage intrigued me and I noticed Jason was local. After browsing his webpage, the emotions evoked from his photography alone was the main reason I chose him as a photographer years before I got engaged. Once I got engaged, I knew that I wanted his artistic skills. The quality of return on the photos themselves is well worth it. I absolutely hate looking at photos of myself but I can't stop looking at some of the photos he took of me. My family can't stop complimenting the photos he took. His photos from my engagement make me forget that the photos themselves were taken in a parking lot and not a field! His services are reasonable and he is a very flexible vendor. He was even more helpful than our wedding planner! He is always up for trying new things and testing out new ideas so don't be afraid to make suggestions. We found Jason on the Fearless Photographers website. I went there because we were looking for a photographer with a unique eye and for more candid photos than posed shots. We chose a package with an engagement session, more to get comfortable with the camera and being posed. I do think it helped to have this session with Jason and the pictures turned out wonderfully. We ended up using one of our engagement photos as our "guestbook" and had guests sign on the mat around the photo. The day of the wedding, Jason and his additional photographers and assistant were relaxed which helped to put us all at ease. We did not even give Jason a "shot list" other than making sure we got family pictures with both sides of the family. We wanted to get candid shots that showed the emotions of the day. We are very happy with how the photos turned out. There are many beautiful and unique photos as well as some great candid ones that capture us, our families, and our friends. Jason was incredible to work with from Day 1. When we stumbled upon his blog, we knew we wanted him. My wife and I are really picky about our photography and loved everything that Jason created. Jason was very professional and very easy to talk to. I liked how he listened to what we liked and disliked before introducing his own creative ideas. Although I was coming from the East Coast and wifey was coming from Norcal, Jason made it easy to meet up in Socal for our engagement photo session. Jason was always extremely cool and confident during our engagement photo session and wedding day. He exudes this confidence that made us feel really comfortable. Jason was our first vendor we ever booked, and we are glad we got him. He worked well with the rest of our vendors during our wedding and his second shooter Ari was also awesome. They worked so well together, it was like magic! Wifey and I felt like a king and queen throughout the day b/c of Jason. Although our wedding day timeline was a bit tight and involved some complicated and changing logistics (wedding day will never go as precisely planned), Jason was able to work with our awkward logistics and improvised well. Our photos turned out absolutely amazing. We are so happy with them. Jason was the best decision we made for our wedding (besides saying "I do", of course). Our friends and family absolutely love our photos. Although they were great photos, wifey and I think the ones Jason posted on his blog weren't even the best ones he took from our wedding.
