Since I work from home most days and needed my hair done the day before heading into the office, I searched everywhere for a new salon. That's when I came across Yeimmy's and decided to give them a call. Yeimmy was incredibly accommodating and took me in right after I finished work. From the start, she was attentive and took the time to discuss my hair concerns, especially how fine and fragile it is. She recommended a deep conditioning treatment, which left my hair feeling amazing. A couple of months later, I returned because I had hair extensions in and just wanted a wash, dry, and blowout. At the time, Yeimmy was in the Dominican Republic, but she connected me with Sandra--and I absolutely fell in love with her! Sandra was so gentle, thorough, and made sure my hair was well taken care of. She actually reminded me of my aunt from the Dominican Republic, which made the experience even more special. I was so happy with her work that I went back again a few weeks later when I needed my extensions done. I haven't been in a while, but I definitely plan to return. If you're looking for a salon that truly prioritizes hair health and takes the time to care for your hair properly, this is the place to go. One thing to note: Yeimmy Dominican Salon is on the pricier side compared to other Dominican salons. You won't find a $20 blowout here, so if you're used to budget-friendly pricing, be prepared. That said, as long as the prices remain reasonable, I personally don't mind paying for quality service. Highly recommend if you're looking for expert care and a welcoming atmosphere!

However, the hair dresser that day, cut my hair extremely uneven. I knew from that experience that Dominican salons are not savvy when it comes to African American short hair. I google "black salons near me" and found Nik's Beauty Studio which was the closest. I arrived early this morning & did not have to wait long before for Nik's assistant to wash my hair. I didn't know this salon was by "appointment only" after clarification from Nik. Nik even noticed how badly my hair was trimmed. I asked her to fixed it any way possible. Once it was done, I was pleasantly surprised. I had a beautiful pixie hairstyle which is my first , I never had my this short ever. I will be definitely going back. She is indeed talented!!

When I got in, I wasn't exactly sure who Nik was. She was actually in the back of the salon washing the hair of a client. She said hi to me and told me to take my jacket off and sit down. She asked me, while tending to her other client what style did I have in mind. I did show her the picture of the style I wanted. When she finished with her client, I think she spoke to me after as I sat in her chair. Before I knew it, she immediately picked up the tub of Affirm relaxer. I relaxed my hair a week before but it did not take. She asked me when I relaxed it and I told her when. She said to me that she couldn't do much with my hair because of it. I understood that but she made a few comments about me relaxing my hair myself. I usually do so and it takes but that time it did not. She proceeded to cut my hair because I said so and took me to the sink. The way she washed my hair was very aggressive. I've never had someone scrub my hair in such an aggressive way. It was almost unnecessary. The water from the sink kept splashing on me as well. She molded and wrapped my hair and took me to the dryer. During the time under the dryer, she didn't check on my hair much. She also told me in a slightly disrespectful way to keep my head under the dryer. It was burning quite a bit especially on my ears. There were a few things that she did that I found pretty offensive. She addressed me as "baby." I'm not the biggest fan of women calling me pet names especially when I am a grown woman around the same age as you. It's very disrespectful and sets me off. She did it over and over again, I doubt she knew what my name was. She did not ask me once any time during my service. Another thing that she did which was rude was her use of the N word. Her TV channel was playing the show Love & Hip Hop. She looked up to watch it and said "I wish a n*gga would cheat on me like that I would f*ck him up." Now look, I don't particularly care for the cursing when you're around loved ones, but your salon is a professional establishment or so I assume. The cursing was a turn off. Mind you, this is my first visit at her salon so you can understand why it didn't make for a good first impression with me. When I got into her chair once again, she finished cutting my hair. She grabbed my hair a few times and kept cutting. She cut a lot of my hair off. The cut was okay but I didn't want so much hair to be cut. When it came time to styling, I could feel her inexperience in each curl. She burned me numerous times. She's not very good at curling, so when she curls the back, you will be burned on the scalp. I am sure it's worse when you have a fresh relaxer. She did not use a marcel iron. She used a mini wand I believe. I almost wanted to jump out because I couldn't take the burns anymore. No other stylist has burned me like she did. It was like she didn't care. That alone was enough for me not to come back. At the end of the styling, the style was nice but it was not what I showed her in the picture. It was entirely different. The hair she cut off was all over me. I tried to push it on the floor and she looked me up and down because I was dusting myself off. She didn't really seem to take to me and her attitude became a bit off putting. I let her keep the entire $100 just because. She gave me a shower cap because it was pouring outside. Would I come back? No. Angie is down the street and my regular go to. She also does a great job and has a more pleasant attitude. I think the salon looks okay. The cut was okay and the style was fine but too many stylists are experienced and have slightly better attitudes.

I wouldn't recommend this business for a traditional weave. I give this establishment a zero when…read moreit comes to customer service. Please watch video below. This is the most I've ever paid for a weave not worth the $375. I have so much to say about this establishment but do not have the time to write such a lengthy post. My ONLY advice is stay clear from this business. Revision: guess who has time today? I initially picked this business because I loved the curls she posted on IG. I have a weaver but she does not style. So I thought let's try something new (HUGE Mistake). I arrived at the salon, everyone was sweet. Then finally got in the chair. Had I followed my instinct I could have avoided this situation. I'm an ageist. I do not like older people doing my hair anyway her mom washed my hair, blow, then braid down. First mistake I disparately need a hair cut my ends were DEAD. She braid dead hair instead of promoting healthy hair growth. As she started the braid down I say the misty but instead of saying something I trusted the process (another mistake). I am the queen of traditional weave. The braid down is the most important. When she started the install I noticed that she didn't cut the weft, no biggie in the back but should be done in the front so that in install can lay flat. I fell asleep for most of the install & by the time she completed & they came with their camera. I knew that I would be displeased. Yet I said nothing. Mistakes that I should have addressed: she didn't leave enough hair out to cover the tracks. The double of the hair in front kept me from putting my hair behind my ears. No one knows how good or bad an install is until they are home or when you walk up in the morning. The videos below are from the morning less than 12 hrs from the install. It was a holiday weekend & the salon would be closed until the following Tuesday. I had to go to a Dominican salon in Harlem to have the install removed, get a hair cut & worn a bob until I could to my orginal weaver. When I called the salon midweek. I sent them video I had made. Nami eventually called me back & took no accountability. Because I took the hair out. She claimed she could have fixed the top. But BS the braid down was the issue. Also I am a social woman to walk around with a weave than looks like a bad wig... is not an option. Her resolution: to GIVE ME 20% off my NEXT install. As IF! So I called Amex because I paid have cash have credit. She's lucky I don't take her to small claims court, cause I'm petty like that. Stay clear of the business if you're black trying to get a weave. She's too expensive & not work the headache. Instead I recommend nynystyle you can find her on IG. She is one of the best weavers in Brooklyn. Cheating on nynystyle cause all this drama. Never again.
