In the 80s I got into playing with cars and I saved up enough money working every part time job I…read morecould find (and made a few up along the way) to buy a 1971 Firebird although I can't recall the job(s) they were all legal and definitely sucked, I remember the sucking part more than the job. But that sun beaten red beast at the mechanics shop with 400ci two barrel carburator had to be mine, so the jobs didn't matter. One day it was mine and I hot rodded around with my buddies, cranking Metal and going to the junkyards when stuff failed under the hood with screwdriver and vice grips in hand. My friend who's 6 foot 6 had a little yellow VW Rabbit with a piece of rotten sausage stuck to the side, it was a big piece and appeared snake-ish on his wheel well. He wanted to sell it as it was trashed so we went to the junkyard to scrap it. The sausage stuck when I threw it at the little electric banana two seater as we were drinking and grilling in the Adirondack Mountains, he decided to keep it on to see how long it would stick. At the junkyard some new guy got into the Rabbit and an older guy took this huge forklift and smashed the tines right through the two windows. The new guy ducked out of the way so fast but he couldn't escape because the older guy lifted the car from below tbe roof up, up and up to probably 20 feet and began shaking it with thr tilting lever. This poor guy was screaming and the old guy was laughing and kept it up for a few minutes before lowering the new guy to safety. This type of mob humor don't happen at Twisted Metal, it's a straight shop with creat phone and counter customer service. My tail light was showing about $120 and up at the autoparts places, AutoZone and O'Reilly and I took it away for $70 with tax included, used but in great condition with linkage and bulbs.
