My Kia Optima stopped dead in a parking lot today. I called the Kia 1-800 roadside assistance service and I had the misfortune of them sending Mike's Towing to get my car and tow it to the nearest dealer. Since I gave all the location information to the Kia helper, I was told by them that I did not need to stay by my car and that all would be good. I could go back to work and not worry. After I'd found another ride to back to work, LeeAnn @ Mike's Towing called me @ 12:12pm to get "more information" from me, then they called again at 12:15, and again at 12:18. I was on a business call that entire time and couldn't answer any of them, but I was able to call them back @ 12:19. Let me say that again. They first called me at 12:12. I called back at 12:19. But apparently that was too late. I was informed that "Hey, we tried to reach you and couldn't, so we cancelled the service call." 7 minutes difference. 7. Not 70. Not 700. 7 minutes. I've got screenshots of my voice mail and my outgoing calls showing those exact times. I wish I could post that with this review as further proof of the insanity here. The upshot? I had to go back to the Kia 1-800 service and start all over again, costing me tons more time and grief. Maybe Mike's Elite Towing is first-rate to everyone else, but from my experience today? Anything but "elite." So disappointing to see local businesses extend the middle finger versus offer sincere customer-centered service. read more

No stars actually. Yelp doesn't let me post without at least one. This business is not accredited by BBB. I don't know why AAA and the Sarasota county sheriffs department use her. The lady that runs the business must be sitting pretty because she is the most agonizingly rude person I have ever spoken to. My head on collision was towed to her facility and I just wanted to retrieve my glasses from my company vehicle. Instead of working with me in an informative manner, I was treated like a criminal trying to steal from my own company vehicle. Makes me thinks she is the one with a guilty conscience. She is not trustworthy. Sheriffs department and AAA are going to hear about this. read more

Michael from Mike's Elite Towing, the driver, not the company's namesake, who handled the service call, arrived timely, was professional, personable and knowledgable. I had no expectations I would be to the dealership and back at the office in an hour and 20 minutes. But Michael got the Range Rover on the flat bed quickly, drove us to the dealership, and got me on my way in record time. I've had to call roadside through AAA tons of times, and while I have never had a bad experience with AAA, I must say Mike's Elite Towing was a notch above. Mike's Elite Towing to the rescue! The cable snapped on my Corvette gear shifter and was only able to be towed with special equipment. I have a membership with a national auto club but they were not able to help me. These guys are awesome! Almost 2 years ago my car just wouldn't start & I KNEW it wasn't the battery! They came out during evening rush hour. The Tow guy (Mike) was so helpful! He showed me how to get the car started without tow & I promised to meet him at the shop in the morning. At 715 am (before they open!) Paul & Mike repaired whatever minor thing it was. I trust them. The car worked great until recently so I just had another visit for an alternator & brakes. Mike the owner cut me a little break on some of the cost. Great service! Our van was making a "racket" in the engine compartment, and a friend who's lived here for years told me about this mechanic where he takes all of his work. We're from PA so we aren't acquainted with the local merchants. My friend escorted us to this business to see what the issue was. We arrived just as lunch was ending and the mechanic in the shop checked with Mike the owner who told him to go ahead and look at it immediately. The water pump was the problem and Mike said that he could repair it on the spot. As it took about 3 hours, we spent the afternoon with our friends, but would've been welcome to wait there. We may have just been "lucky" in our timing, but he saved us a lot of grief and expense by servicing it then. We have no other means of transport while here. This is one of the cleanest shops (and restroom) we've ever been to and we've been to many. Especially given our situation, I thought his charges for the repair in any case were very reasonable. I'd definitely recommend Mike and his crew to anyone needing a mechanic. While I hope I don't have to go back to him again for anything serious while I'm on vacation, it's great to know that his business is here should I need it. read more
