Blue Crab Queso
Susan H.

The best seafood meal! Each course came out perfect timing to enjoy each dish at a time. The queso was a great way to start, it is a thicker consistency. Then the scollops tasted fresh with yummy toppings! It has a spice to it. Then a delicious Paella for the main course with lots of seafood. It came out sizzling in the pan. Great place to go in KCK! And there was a $4 special on the margs. The owner is so nice and passionate about his restaurant!

Stuffed trout and Shrimp Chipotle

Fantastic food! Hole in the wall with cocktails and a deliciously well made seafood menu. Both cold and hot seafood dishes, apps, ceviche, and plenty of specials. The stuffed trout was fantastic. The main entrees come with yellow rice and a non sweet slaw that has delicious hints of lime juice. The chipotle cream sauce was fantastic and the shrimp were huge. The server walked us through the menu which was super helpful. Must try! I'd definitely go back multiple times to try more and I am normally the type to only go to a restaurant once.

Seafood boil...

We ordered from special menu. Seafood boiled was a little strong seasoning for my taste. Lobster was really good perfect... I love the whole lobster. Small and nice place inside regardless of the neighborhood. Friendly service. The waiter told us about their all you can eat every month first weekend. Their fried fishes are one of the kind.

Jeez, so Jarocho has been on my list of places to try for....I don't even know how long. But we finally did it...because what better way to celebrate your birthday month than to try a new spot with your man?? (Especially since he's not a big seafood guy!) I love that it's got the murals outside with all the sea life - I'm really partial to the ocean themes (I mean come on I have a full on under the sea sleeve tattoo!) and loved the interior decor - all the octopi!! Thankfully we got here early enough that the restaurant was fairly empty and were seated quickly. The manager(?) was very efficient - we got our menus, waters, and drinks right away. My man was slight disappointed as Jarocho does not have Agua Frescas and he does love Horchata. He was definitely satisfied with the Jarritos Mandarin and I, of course, got Anejo Tequia. As I'd seen the menu online in preparation for coming here we were able to figure out what our starts would be - the amazing blue crab queso and the grilled stuffed oysters (6). Let me just say...OMG both were to die for I love nothing more the well prepared and well cooked seafood and the starters were phenomenal! Those oysters were freaking amazing - everything was cooked to perfection! Obviously the oysters took longer to be ready so we didn't order our entrees until we were part way through - we got the seared jumbo scallops and seafood paella. OMG the paella was amazing and perfectly cooked. He wasn't into the scallops but we think because he prefers the smaller sweeter ones to the jumbo deliciousness that he had. Everything was soooooo good....but not enough room to finish or to have dessert. I thoroughly enjoyed the leftovers the next day. :) We were well taken care of throughout the meal and really enjoyed our date night! We'll (for sure I'll) be back soon! Of course, we'll also try the South location, because...well...duh!

Came here for $1.50 oysters for Happy Hour. But we walked out with a huge tab. Probably around $60 or more per person, not including tips. So, if you are looking for a cheap date-night, this is not the place. Food is pricey. But large portion and great flavors. I will definitely go back to try their other items.

It's a super casual place in KCK that is pretty unassuming, but the vibe is chill and food is quite delicious! I thought food was well seasoned, the ceviche was a little bit over lime tasting, still good. The paella was delicious and if you also got Leche de Tigre, the sauce poured over some of the paella rice, was SUCH a good combo. We also got baby octopus which was fresh and not fishy tasting. Their guac was super fresh and went by fast, as did the French fries which were well seasoned.

It's delicious. Food is seasoned appropriately. Staff was nice. Truly a hidden gem. Paella is best shared between 2 ppl.

$1.50 oysters on Tuesdays!
Rosie B.

Went for our anniversary, it happened to be a Tuesday so we had a dozen $1.50 oysters (available on Tuesdays only!). They also had a red snapper special so we totally ate that up. We will absolutely be coming back here, the environment was chill and the service was excellent. They have an awesome First Sunday of the Month Brunch, so we hope to book a reservation for that soon! Thank you!

Fish tacos

Top notch restaurant where you least expect it. Considering that KC is completely land locked, you wouldn't expect great seafood, let alone fresh oysters - we were definitely impressed when we tasted ours, and they didn't taste old/overly briny at all. Granted, these oysters are smaller in size than the ones you'd find on the coasts, but for our expectations, it was great. We also tried the baked oysters and those were wonderful. Lots of flavor, and would definitely order again. Finally, main course of the evening was the fish fillet - can't remember what type of fish it was, but it was made to order. The salsa they provided was one of the most unique salsas I've had - it was spicy but extremely flavorful, and I would have loved to get a bottle of it to take home. The fish was a little pricey, and we weren't given that many tortillas, so that was something to consider. Our server did a great job explaining all the different dishes we were interested in. Ambiance is alright. Not super cozy or upscale, just a straightforward restaurant with typical seating. Definitely a hidden gem in KC and would recommend for anyone to try out!

This location in KC Kansas, is small. It's not in the best part of town. The food was very good and service was friendly and attentive. We started with guacamole that was served with a large basket of chips. My husband and I both got trout, mine fire grilled, his stuffed. Both were good. They needed a squeeze of lime juice, to brighten them up. The coleslaw is perfect for adding to a table made taco with some of the trout. Our meals were served with flour or corn tortillas, your choice. We would definitely go back. Next time I'll try the ceviche, I heard other guests raving about.

Parker Hollow - A Must-Visit Gem in Downtown Parkville My…read morewife and I had the pleasure of dining at Parker Hollow last night, the brand-new spot in downtown Parkville, and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. We were lucky enough to snag seats at the Chef's Table, which put us right in the heart of the action--and it's hands-down the best way to experience this restaurant. Owner Johnathon Justus greeted us warmly and spent the evening guiding us through the menu with genuine enthusiasm and expertise. His passion for the food and the space is infectious, and he made us feel like VIPs the entire time. The remodel and decor are stunning--modern yet cozy, with thoughtful details that make the dining room feel both elegant and welcoming. Every corner of the restaurant reflects the care that went into bringing Parker Hollow to life. Service was impeccable: attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable, and genuinely friendly. The drinks were spot-on--creative, balanced, and perfectly executed. Now, the food--where do I even start? * I kicked things off with the Caesar salad topped with catfish nuggets. The nuggets were crispy, flavorful, and a fun twist on a classic. * My main was the hangar steak, cooked to absolute perfection (medium-rare, juicy, and tender) alongside crispy French fries that were golden, salty, and addictive. * Johnathon surprised us with a complimentary bite of crispy skin salmon with an Asian dipping sauce--flaky, rich, and that sauce? Chef's kiss. My wife ordered the octopus and pecan blue cheese salad, and she hasn't stopped raving about it. The octopus was tender, perfectly charred, and seasoned just right--easily the best she's ever had. The blue cheese and pecans added a wonderful crunch and depth. The cooks at the Chef's Table were just as engaging as Johnathon, happily walking us through their techniques and answering all our questions. It felt like dining with friends who happen to be culinary wizards. Verdict: Parker Hollow is a 5-star experience through and through. The Chef's Table is a must if you can book it. We're already planning our return--this time to try the fish collar. If you're in the Parkville area, do yourself a favor and go. You won't regret it.

Bringing Jonathan Justus's culinary talent back to the Northland feels like a win for the entire area--and from a selfish standpoint, having a raw bar this close to home is a real bonus. The space itself has been beautifully reimagined from its former Italian roots. The bar and chef's table anchor the first floor, while the dining room upstairs feels intimate and inviting. Thoughtful holiday décor and warm music gave the evening a comfortable, almost at-home feel--upscale without being stuffy. We had an early 5:30 p.m. Wednesday reservation. A few guests were already seated when we arrived, and by the time we left, every table was full--always a good sign for a restaurant just three months in. We started with the Pecan Pear Salad, followed by the Steamed Mussels, and finished with the Salmon. The salad was a standout--my wife especially loved the pears, which added a perfect balance of sweetness and texture. The mussels arrived in a tangy parmesan broth with vegetables and were plentiful--15 mussels in the bowl. A couple of small details would have elevated the experience: small forks for the mussels, a separate bowl for empty shells, and perhaps more baguettes. The baguette itself was heavily grilled, which slightly overpowered the broth. I had seen a video of the Scottish Salmon before our visit, beautifully plated, so presentation-wise it didn't quite match that expectation last night. That said, the portion was generous, and the salmon itself was tender, juicy, and well-prepared, which ultimately matters most. Dessert is where Parker Hollow truly shines. We ordered the Sherry and Thyme Poached Pear and the Pecan Coconut Tart, and both were exceptional. The pear dessert, in particular, was a work of art--visually stunning and perfectly balanced in flavor. Service throughout the evening was friendly and attentive. Given that all food has to be carried upstairs, the pacing was solid overall. The only notable delay was with our cocktails, which took longer than expected to arrive. All in all, Parker Hollow feels like a confident addition to the Parkville dining scene--polished, welcoming, and clearly finding its rhythm. We're looking forward to returning, especially to explore more of the menu and the raw bar.
