Once is enough. The tables are clean and some thought has definitely been put into the flooring tiles, lighting and upholstery on the booths. Having said that, it's still gas station or mall quality food. You order from the counter like in a fast food restaurant and then sit down and wait for someone to bring it to you. Utensils are plastic, there are chopsticks available on the counter (although the cheaper version where the Wood is splintered), and all the dishes I was served were plastic or styrofoam (for dining in). The Bold and the Beautiful was broadcast on two tvs when I was there- loud commercials and definitely the centerpiece of the "atmosphere ". I was impressed with the green salad and ginger dressing. The miso soup was weak in flavor, watered down without much flavor from or miso paste or dashi. My maki roll was mediocre. They do offer both regular soy sauce and low sodium soy sauce. Ginger and wasabi leave much to be desired. Can't beat the price but to me quality is of greater importance. Great place for some inexpensive and quick food. Look elsewhere for quality, or a date , business lunch, or to make an impression. read more

Went here for my first time tonight and will be my last. I ordered the miso soup, fried calamari and the eel rice bowl. Miso soup: there is literally 0 flavor or seasoning to this soup... it is literally the most bland soup I have ever had in my life.. the only good thing about this soup was how long it stayed hot... Fried Calamari: dear lord all I can say is NEVER ORDER THIS. I mean I shouldn't have expected anything more but man this was just so bad... it was SO hard and SO over cooked it was literally rubber that you couldn't chew through. I struggled to eat 3 pieces and threw the rest in the trash can. Eel rice bowl: I was hoping the entree would be a saving grace but nope, wrong thinking again. The portion for the amount of eel was absolutely ridiculous and it looked SO fake you could tell this was frozen. You bite into it and once again the rubber feel is back and once again no seasoning or flavor... and the worst thing is I was asked steamed rice or fried rice to which I said fried rice. Last time I checked fried rice had more ingredients than just rice, ya know like egg and vegetables?... my bowl literally came out with rice, eel sauce and eel. So all in all, horrible dinner. I hate to just give out 5 star ratings Willy nillie, however, it is great for the price. The service was fast and friendly. The portions were above average. We ordered the bento box and chicken teriyaki plate. The prices have gone up recently but they are still affordable. I've seen better food at high end sushi bars and low lit romantic restaurants but that's not what this place is about. This restaurant is a family oriented place where the whole family can eat well and not breaking the bank. The food was good too, but not awesome. For what price you pay it can't be any better. We are glad we stop here to eat. read more

Japan House used to be one of my favorite places to eat, but over the course of the last 6 months, the food quality has gone down, as well as the quality of service. They've screwed up my order multiple times and employees (multiple) have been rude over the phone. I do not recommend this restaurant. read more

I've been grabbing my quick cravings for Japanese food everytime at Japan House. The interior is very nice and clean. Their food is very good and cooks fast. It's not greasy unlike other Chinese/Japanese fusion restaurants. They have their online order that you can place too in case you don't feel like calling in your order. read more

My husband ordered just the side of scallops (4oz) which was listed on menu as $6.99 and lady charged him $8.99 and said price went up. The only thing on the plate was the scallops, no rice or vegetables. we've eaten at this restaurant on several occasions and have loved their food but after seeing the price for 4oz scallops we will not be back. read more

My go to place currently for quick Japanese food. Great selection of food and sushi. Not over priced and the quality of the food is pretty dang good. Have had better and worse. But for the price you can't beat it. Average wait time is about 10 minutes and the drive through makes life so much simpler when in a rush. read more

Food tasted good but was overpriced for the quality. $17 for house special combo and a fountain drink. Combo has steak chicken and shrimp. Steak not filet and shrimp are popcorn style sized. For $17 I had higher expectations. I think this is a $10-$12 meal tops. read more

Absolutely loved it! The food was delicious, the atmosphere was calm & accepting (those with anxiety know exactly what I mean), the staff very outgoing & down to earth. We normally eat at a different Japan House, so we figured that this one would be no different. The second time we ordered from the restaurant, they game us the wrong order (another customer's). Unfortunately, we didn't notice until we had left the store, but we called back and they agreed to let us switch. We took the food back (untouched except opening the bag to see that it wasn't our order), and switched it out for our food. This would be fine, except for the fact that we checked our bank account and have discovered that we were charged for BOTH orders. Including the one that they messed up on. We have no proof that we didn't order that one, so now we've been charged an extra $35 dollars for food we've never had. TL/DR: the food is fine, but you may get the wrong order. And if you go back to switch your order to the right one, you'll be charged for both purchases. Don't think we want to eat here again unless we want to lose extra money. read more

the food here is as you would expect from a "fast food" japanese restaurant. you pay for what you get. i'd say most things are worth the price. however, the customer service here is terrible. every time i've come in they have been rude when taking my order. when they bring you your food at your table, they often are rude and blunt and just aggressively set your food down. it always makes me uncomfortable. when you order pickup and go through the drive through, the girls are always rude and don't even greet you at the window!! as someone who works in customer service as a waitress, i know how customers should be treated, and you will never get adequate service here. definitely something that needs to be worked on here. read more

With the line of work that I am in I deal with very angry and upset people ALLLLLL DAYYYYY long. I was taught a long time ago that if you can get the angry/upset people back on your side you have done a fantastic job. There's NOTHING better than a retraction from an angry customer telling the world you have handled a situation well. If you decide to eat at Japan House 1- be prepared for very TERRIBLE customer service. Hands down the rudest people I have ever dealt with (aside from one girl who has had her parents teach her about empathy). 2- check your bank statement bc you were probably charged twice. When you bring it to their attention of the incorrect charges showing on your bank statement be prepared for a child to get an attitude with you to the point you want to give them a whopping because they are, indeed, children. 3- if you are charged twice, you will probably have to fight to get your money back. A whole different side of me came out when the child was refusing to give me MY money back that they wrongfully TOOK from me. 4- the manager/owner does not care about your business, your time, or his business in general. If you are a parent of one of the children that work at Japan House, you should be worried bc their manager is leading them down the wrong path and they will fail in the real world due to his guidance. ANNNDDDD, he talks negatively about them. (Trying not to cuss here.) I very rarely give negative reviews. Simply because I feel like sites that allows reviews are places for ONLY disgruntled people. I have only given a bad review one time before this one and it wasn't even a restaurant. I typically only spread positivity on these sites when it's deserved. However, my situation was handled so poorly I feel obligated to warn people. I made an order and paid for it online. My husband didn't know I had already paid for the food. He went to pick up the food and they charged him again for the food that was not ours that he was given. He realized the order was wrong went back in and got the correct food and they offered a $4 refund. I checked my bank statement and saw 2 charges. One for $28 and some change (my order with an undeserved tip) and one for $34 and some change. Called the restaurant to let them know I was double charge and a girl argued with me because she "offered to give him $4 back the night before" and was refusing to give me MY $35 back. I got stern, blah blah blah, she was rude, blah blah blah. Tons of verbiage was spoken to her, blah blah blah. Fast forward. They called me to "give me my refund" in which I had to drive to the restaurant to receive. I asked to speak to the manager/owner, he wasn't there. They had an envelope filled with $29 and some change that didn't match the amount I was owed. The girl that had the attitude on the phone slouched over the register, rolled her eyes, like the entitled brat that she is. I even asked her how she would feel if someone wrongfully charged her $35 and refused to give it back. The one girl, that had some sense, called the manager/owner to get his ETA and told me when I could come back. She even called and told me when he returned. I'm assuming these children HATE being thrown to the wolves to fend for themselves against real life problems. Drove back to the restaurant to have the owner/manager not value my $28-$100/week I spend at this restaurant. An average of $5,000 of my money/year goes to this ONE place. The only thing he did was talk negatively about the girls he had working for him and the only thing he would do was talk to them. I shook his hand and left. read more

not the best sushi here, i gave them a second try, still did not like it. and to expensive. i rather go to chinese buffets and eat there sushi for chipper price and in my opinion they are much better. if you are sushi fan i recommend you to try at red bowl in spartanburg or at sushi Hana in greenville. read more
