The best part of this community is definitely Everlyn, the apartment manager. She always goes the extra mile. I was having some cable/wifi issues when I first moved in, during COVID times when comcast was limiting in-home visits. Everlyn basically did my install-I was so impressed.
Janus VERY briefly had overflowing recycle bins due to unforeseen circumstances. At one point I saw Everlyn (and her husband!) organizing the recycle bins to decrease the clutter. Enough said.
The building itself is very quiet. 85th can be loud at times with police/EMS sirens but this is rare and does not bother me, personally. Once you close the window you cant hear anything. Package theft is a huge issue in Seattle, and I love how Janus has the "Fetch" service. You can schedule your packages to come to your door during certain time slots-very convenient and comforting.
The area is great too, and very walkable. From here you can walk to the grocery store, breweries, restaurants, coffee shops (Preserve and Gather is my fave), a dry -cleaning service, USPS, and the list goes on. I95 is also very close.
I also think Janus did an exceptional job at keeping residents safe during Covid. They set reasonable standards and I felt that residents complied. I was a nurse in the Covid ICU and it was nice to feel taken care of, after taking care of people all day.
During my 9 months here I only had one maintenance call, and I think it was resolved within the hour by our building maintenance man, Kevin.
Cons (very few):
Unfortunately, the apartments to not have central AC and can get very hot in the summer. My apartment on the 4th floor would be 78 degrees. I am used to hot summers on the east coast so this didn't bother me too much. AC units are available to rent from the apartment. The windows do not open very far-I am assuming due to liability issues. I would factor in the cost of AC in your rent for the summer.
I love seeing all of the sweet dogs in this complex. However, as with most apartments, sometimes there are issues with dog urine in the building. Which I understand because one dog pees and then it's a domino effect. Management is definitely on top of the issue. Personally, I don't think this is a management issue. I think dog owners need to clean up after their dogs and train them appropriately.
I am only leaving Janus to move home to the east coast, otherwise this is the only apartment I would ever live in, within Seattle City limits. Thanks for the wonderful experience, Everlyn and Janus apartments! read more
