I Just had an online meeting with Janis, Carly, and a few other women. Discussed topics that demonstrate our different characteristics for potential matches. I found it very inspiring. They have a system that seems hopeful. Whether I get matched or not, I feel happy that I put myself out there and happy that I chose such a reputable, matchmaking mother / daughter, duo. Putting myself out there the best I can. read more

STAY AWAY!!!!to anyone who is interested in a match making Services, whether you are a man or a woman, I strongly encourage you to avoid working with this company. I spoke with Janet Spindell two days ago, and the conversation was incredibly disturbing. Janice made no effort to get to know me, but asked intensely personal and irrelevant questions about my family members, such as the state of my sisters and my parents marriages. When I asked her why she wanted to know this information, she was unwilling to give me a straight answer. There are also several forms of meeting that you can attend as a woman in order to become a complete member of her stable, a group, Zoom meeting, and private meetings priced at various levels. I asked what the benefits were of each tier of meeting, and she said that I, as a woman, would not gain anything from any of them, because I was a member, and the men were her clients. she criticized us women for not knowing that she had a podcast, saying that the link to it was in the signature of every email, and that every woman she spoke to was unfamiliar with it, and she didn't know why. When I suggested that people might not read the signature in the email, insinuated that that was ridiculous. She spoke about her female members with extreme disres read more

Back down Janis. Stop harassing me! *Yelp Management has been notified* Janis called me last week while I was on vacation bc I wrote a bad review about her. She accused me of ridiculous things that I had done wrong in terms of working with her and her daughter. (?) I had to hang up on her and block her. We have never met, nor have I ever exchanged money with her for her ridiculous services / get-togethers. No contract, nothing. Stupidly I filled out an online application (guess I did pay $25, I stand corrected) in 2019, never heard from her until lately ??? Janus, contact me again or use my picture again, and my lawyer will be on your tail faster than you can say stalker. I've notified Yelp about you, your abusive nature to me and to other reviewers. THEY don't take your behavior lightly. They said they don't want to promote fraudulent businesses in any manner on their site. What a way to conduct a business, don't you realize how horrid your responses make you look? Go away. read more

There is nobody better than Janis at finding people who belong together! She has a keen ability to cut through the BS and get to what people really want and need. I've known her for over 20 years and in that time she's been responsible for far too many marriages to count. As far as matchmaking goes, Janis is the real deal. She vets out the men and makes sure she knows exactly who she's read more

I met Janis in upper east side restaurant About 12 years ago . I am surprised she is still scamming people. After she looked me over and sized me up to her preconceived ideas she set a date with a man 20 years my senior who was introverted and probably paid her a lot money . She charged me $500 to be humiliated Don't be scammed Janis does not even remember meeting me but I sure remember paying her $500 What a nasty money hungry female read more

As a person who simply can't lie, I am here to state I find Janis to be FABULOUS! She's fierce, savvy, hard working, honest and gives you the real deal truth. In addition, she is sincerely focused on connecting people and helping create long lasting relationships. I just attended a Camp Janis weekend at her home in the Hamptons and sincerely had the best time. Beyond getting to know here on a deeper level, I formed new friendships with other amazing woman and also gained a deeper sense of confidence with dating. She's the real deal matchmaking queen! read more

I just had my group zoom with Janis & Carly this week. I thought they were very professional and it was an effective screening process. I've been a paying client in the pass with another luxury matchmaking service (they took men & women as clients) and even though I never met the man of my dreams during the contracted time- I never had a bad date. Yet, I'm still in their database & get matched every so often. Simply, by taking action and joining Janis & Carly's database it's just another opportunity to make myself more visible. They are very clear about their business model and how they work. I have no expectations - just a hopeful romantic that believes my person is out there Until then I'll continue to be happy, positive & becoming a better version of me everyday. ‍ Kim read more

I have never met Janis or Carly but I have read ALL the reviews. I'm a male in NY and there essentially are NO males giving reviews here on yelp.. I called Spindle and asked alot of questions. The amount was given to me was (gulp) $ 80,000 for ONE year in NY search and promises of at least ONE date per month. And with all the comments of scam and lying, it really gives me pause. Questions 1. Why no men giving reviews? 2. Are there so few men willing to fork over $80,000 ? 3. Does she select the 10s and then shows them to men? 4. If sooo many women upset , are men too afraid to say anything ? Any person reading this, I would appreciate any response. I have to wonder if there are essentially no male responses , are they all happy or are there no men willing to pay that much? Janis... would like to hear from you if you see this. OMT... the person I spoke to said "$ 80,000 was to separate the men from the boys". read more

I had the pleasure of meeting Carly Spindel a few years ago when I reached out to this matchmaking company to see if I could be matched with a man. I paid a fee and met her (in person) in the lobby of a building, where she gave me some great advice and asked me to have my pictures taken so that I could be in their database should a potential match be found. The experience turned out to be very positive. She connected me with professional people for my photoshoot. I met with a stylist, hairdresser, makeup artist, and photographer ( all of whom provided excellent client service). I still use these contacts for other things. Even the photos from the photoshoot proved useful elsewhere. :) After using several other matchmaking agencies (where I paid $$$$), I saw the difference and this agency's professionalism. Everyone they refer you to is super-professional and pays attention to detail. I've used other agencies where the matchmakers don't even care about their clients' preferences and will match you with the opposite of what you asked for because they are contractually obligated to match you with one of their members. In fact, this matchmaker (at the other agency) told me to wear ripped jeans (not my personal style), get my hair done at a crappy salon, and go to a makeup counter to get my makeup done for free. So, you can imagine my shock and horror! As a result, my photoshoot turned out to be ridiculous! I was hoping to get matched with a man, but maybe their clients' preferences and mine don't align and that's not their fault. It is what it is! Just put your best foot forward and be optimistic. I've seen many reviews of women complaining that this is a scam and waahh :( they just won't help me! It's 100 % not a scam. They are just doing their job. They screen you and then if you pass, you get your profile submitted into their database. It's not their fault that they're aren't enough men out there! Also, if you're not a paying client, you can't expect them to find you a match. That means that the only way is for you to match with one of their clients is through your profile/photoshoot (after you've paid a fee for consultation) or paying the membership fee (signing a contract for them to find you matches). Y'all need to calm down! I mean, like, what are they supposed to do?! Lol- Pull the man of your dreams out of thin air and hand him to you! LOL :) read more

I absolutely adore the mother/ daughter duo. Janis is a straight shooter. Very honest with her criticisms and just as liberal with her advise. Carly is a great good cop to soften the blow. I enjoy listening to their pod casts and had the pleasure meeting them via zoom with several other members. They were very honest, respectable, and open. It was very much a Q&A session and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I hope to get the opportunity meeting them again in the future. read more

i don't write bad reviews unless something truly upsets me. i missed my call and got multiple responses with ALL CAPS about how surprised she was that I could mix up the time and how TERRIBLE it was that my mailbox was full and how that is a man's pet peeve. belittling potential clients before you even speak to them is not a way to make them want to become clients no wonder she is below 3 stars PASS! read more

This is a high end matchmaking service that only takes on men as clients. Women, who are interested to get matched up, go through a screening process by meeting with Janis, Carly or both. There is a fee (about $250) for the screening. The instructions, before you sign up for the screening, are crystal clear as to what the expectations are after the screening, which is Janis will keep a file on you with pictures/bio in case a potential match is identified. I walked away from the meeting with full knowledge that I will ONLY get a call back if Janice/Carly found a match for me. I did not hear from Janice for two years until she called me up with news about a potential match. I spoke with the prospect over the phone (seems like a nice gentleman!), and we will be going out to dinner soon to see if we connect in person. The reason for leaving this review is to offer support for the business because I did not feel cheated for not getting a call back after the screening, and was surprised to get a call back after two years. I must disagree with most of the negative reviews because it's pretty clear that you may never get a call back after being screened. Also, it makes sense for the business to require an in-person meeting before adding your name to the list of prospects for their current/future clients. I hope this helps to clarify the business model used, and what the expectations are if you are signing up for the screening process, Also, I believe the screening is by invitation only, and you may participate only if your application goes through. The online application, as I recall, requires a short bio and a few pictures. The cost for signing up is $25. If you feel uncomfortable paying $25 to fill out the application or $250 for the screening afterwards if selected, then don't! read more

Janice and Carly are great--they really take the time to get to know you, which result in the best match for both parties. It takes a lot of time, effort and patience for them to match you with the right person. I have had great success and love working with them. Please remember, like someone else also mentioned, it does take patience and time for the right scenario. read more

Ladies, please stay away from this SCAM Mother Daughter Duo. They hope to cast a wide net and snagged a few thin, good looking young women who might be suitable dates for the few male clients that show up at their door. Meanwhile, their business model is sustained by fees paid by women they actually have contempt for: 98% of the other women whom they considered desperate and deluded. They don't seriously believe they will actually help you. This company doesn't even have a real address. Just a co-working space that you can rent virtually for $80 a month. Now with Zoom, they don't even need that. Also, if you are Asian, beware: Janis thinks you are below white people, but will gladly take your money and pretend otherwise. She's likely to respond to this review by saying: a. What, no other reviews? Scam! b. Bitter woman c. Liar d. I don't even know who you are e. We've had thousands of marriages! I just want to say, yes, I was scammed by Janis, but it took me some time to admit it. I eventually realized how desperate I use to be when I met a regular guy and we totally clicked. Not a millionaire, but I'm so happy! Janis, you should be ashamed of yourself for preying on vulnerable women. read more

These reviews are absolutely ridiculous.  They must be from Carly's friends.  This "dynamic duo" as they call themselves are a scam.  Women pay thousands (up front) for a dream when they are most vulnerable.  They are overwhelmingly disappointed, embarrassed and angry when they finish.  The "thousands of marriages" claim if true would leave Janus a multimillionaire.   I've met her, believe me she looks homeless not a matchmaking oligarch. read more

I'm struggling to understand all the negative reviews. Having just participated in a zoom with Janis and Carly, I know that they make it abundantly clear that they work for the male (I.e., he's paying the most money, not the females) and there is no guarantee of a match. Yes, the fee to participate in the group interview isn't cheap, but neither is a dating app subscription (e.g. eHarmony costs around $250 for the cheapest subscription). They're in the business of making money just like anyone else who owns their own business, so I can't understand people who take issue with what they're "selling". No one is making a female sign up to pay if they don't want to. I just did the zoom, but so far I'm impressed. They are no nonsense business women, and I admire that. I'm in a small market (TN) compared to the other females that participated (NYC); maybe it will work out for me, maybe it won't. It's a financial gamble I'm willing to take. read more

I met in a private setting with Carly Spindell. I gave her 500$ cash to sign up with their dating website. I've been contacted once. They advertised a party and asked for names and contact information for eligible Men I knew. Once they received the names of the Men the "party" never materialized. I've not heard 1 word from them in over 2 yrs. I'm a very beautiful accomplished women. This is a scam dating service. read more

Recently "met" (via Zoom) Janis and Carly. They were both kind, honest, and passionate about their business as serious matchmakers!

Janis is truly talented at what she does! I was fortunate enough to attend a Camp Janis in The Hamptons and it was absolutely incredible! Janis was the best host. She was so fun and had so much insight into relationships. Janis is a serious matchmaker and surrounds herself with high quality individuals. It was an honor to get to know her and learn more about her impressive business. Thank you Janis! read more

I have really enjoyed meeting and working with Janis! I met Carly several years ago in Chicago, and Janis/Carly have stayed in touch over Instagram. Janis was incredibly thoughtful when matching me with one of her clients, and she had great coaching / advice in advance of our second date. I really appreciated her style and sense of humor, as well as her directness! I've also appreciated that Janis checks in on my broader dating (outside of her matches) to give me suggestions! read more

As one of Janis and Carly 's members, I was grateful that Janis invited me to meet up with her and a few of her other members while she was in Florida . The meet up was super fun . in all fairness i recall having to sign something that a match was not guaranteed but i took a chance. paid good money and did not receive one introduction...met no one literally no one. my own fault and naivete but i felt very let down. a huge disappointment. if someone asked me to recommend this service i would warn them that if you meet no one you don't have a leg to stand on. very painful experience. read more

I have not heard wonderful things about Janis, but I did meet a gal recently who did meet someone through years ago, and they are still together. I have tried calling, but they never seem to answer the phone. read more

This service is horrendous. And Janis your reply's are even more tragic. You continue to ask why these woman don't just call you instead of leaving a review. How can anyone call and have a conversation with a full blown unethical scam artist. Why would anyone want to?? To be manipulated and scammed more? Janis - We leave these reviews to WARN others about your ill business conduct. So they hopefully do not have to be scammed themselves. You have probably taken money from 1000's and 1000's of woman throughout the years and continue to do so. This NEEDS to STOP. How can you prey upon woman who are just looking for love and hope that "maybe" you can help them. from Janis Spindel's website: Step 1: Submit an application. Step 2: Choose one option for an in person meeting. Step 3: If, and only if, you're a match for the male clients, then the introductions will start. IF, and ONLY IF, YOU'RE a MATCH... You CHARGE woman to meet you, your daughter, or both on a scale between $250 to $1250 just to MAYBE be a match for your clients. Doesn't that seem a bit unethical? It does to me. But when you are looking for love you think, well maybe they can really help me. This company is a scam. The prices are outrageous for something these woman aren't even going to get anything from unless they get "accepted" I was accepted. But was never asked to meet with one single male & never heard from them again. It has been over 2 years. And no I don't want a conversation. I want my money back! If you read some of the replies from Janis here on yelp she states that it could take years to hear from her. Does she really think this is fair, ethical business practices? I don't know if they "actually" match people. And I'm not saying they don't. but what I can say is that they CHARGE way too much for nothing and Janis is extremely arrogant to think that she can get away with this for so long. SCAM. 100%. Ripped off $1250 For woman who have been scammed: To file a complaint, just go to www.ftc.gov/complaint or call 1-877-FTC-HELP. Also, I got a message a few days before my meeting with Janis and Carly. The message said it was Janis's "assistant." I watched some videos of Janis before setting up my meeting and she has a very distinct voice and NY accent. The message was undeniably Janis. But she says it's her "assistant" calling and that its been so so hectic at the office she wanted to confirm my meeting time and date. It was 100% Janis on the message. It's completely shameful & embarrassing. Such a scam artist! I still kept my meeting with them after that & after reading all the bad reviews. Bad decision. I guess I didn't want to believe it & I really wanted to find love. PLEASE do not do this. You will be happy you saved your money!!!! read more

Extremely unprofessional!! Do not recommend attempting to contact this team. They are negative and degrading. Don't waste your time!

Don't waste your time or money. They don't know what qualities to look for in people in order to match them up successfully. They also greatly lack interpersonal skills. read more

None of the other matchmakers charge women money for their services. In grocery stores, malls, Starbucks and just walking on the streets I'm told I'm stunning. Whenever I go out on first dates, the guys tell me I'm smart & gorgeous and want second dates. I have a masters degree and an amazing career. Janis would be lucky to have me in her database. The fact that she asked to charge me must mean that she does not have many male clients. If she had tons of male clients, like the other agencies, she'd be happy to find me, not ask me for money. It's a strange agency when they ask women for money. Don't the guys realize that no high caliber women will pay money? And if she deemed me lower caliber bc I'm 32, not 22, wouldn't that mean that she's just taking people's money, without even thinking that the person is a great catch??? read more

Janis and her daughter Carly pursued me for a year and wanted desperately to meet with me. The fee was $1,250 to meet with both of them. So I finally met with them and they gave me only half hour. After that I never heard from them. I'm not old, unattractive or poor but they couldn't match me with a single guy?! And they call themselves matchmakers!!! They no longer have their mixers (for the mixers they told women that they HAVE TO bring a male friend with them....meaning they don't have eligible men to introduce to you) and now they give lectures to take more money from the people they've already interviewed and have taken money from! Also they've started traveling throughout the United States because they've realized there's more money in other states. In short they're con artists. Save your money ladies and if they keep emailingcallingyou and tell you that you're "awesome" don't fall into their trap. Before meeting with them I read online that they're con artists but unfortunately I ignored it. This is probably the first review I've ever written in my life but I felt it was necessary for you people to know how they managed to purchase their home in the Hamptons. read more

I spent $250 to meet the daughter at a Mall in Boca Raton. I had to share my time with another client which made it uncomfortable to be open and talk about myself. I was completely scammed. I actually flew in from another city (I also had other business in NYC to tend to) for a meet and greet with Janis where we expected her to really talk to us and give us tips and actually let us know SOMETHING about whether we could proceed. She told us to buy and read her books before the session and bring them with us. There were probably 20 women there. What a scam. She was sitting at the back of a dark Manhattan restaurant and demanded $50 cash from all of us. That took at least a half hour (or more) for everyone to get checked in. Finally, we all crowded around a table with Janet kind of squeezed in and she went around the room and said asinine things to us and asked us goofy questions, but she never really addressed a process or what she was looking for or ANYTHING. I don't think she said anything to me at all...It was all very weird and demeaning. And then it was over within an hour. So, basically, we paid her electric bill or something that night. She just gathers women together, tricks them into buying her books and demands payment for nothing. I figured out why she asks for cash -- because otherwise these women would file disputes with their credit card companies or put stop payments on checks. It's that bad. After this disastrous session, I joined two other Janis victims for a delightful Italian dinner, where we laughed and laughed about how gullible we all were. I hate that I didn't post this message sooner to warn other women away! But hey, I've got a great story to tell! read more
