After "discovering" Maria through the Girls Gotta Eat podcast and following her on social media, I knew I needed to sign up for the Agape Match Group Intensive course. I have learned so much about myself and my relationships (romantic, friendships, family, work, etc.) through Maria's Instagram that I wasn't sure what else I would learn through the course and I was blown away by just the first class! I attended the Agape Group Coaching Intensive with Maria and Chrisoula the first week of October 2022. This was a virtual program that took place over 3 days in 3-hour sessions, and it was exactly as advertised! Through this program I learned more about myself, my dating history and how to create better/more successful dating scenarios and situations for myself in the future. I am a self-proclaimed self-help junkie, and this intensive program was well worth the monetary and time investment! I would highly recommend this program to anyone that is ready to get serious about dating and finding a partner. Finding a partner forces one to be vulnerable and a potential customer shouldn't be made to feel like they need to take a shower when leaving a matchmaker's office. I participated in Agape Match's Group Coaching Intensive (offered virtually July 2021). For three 3-hour sessions (plus about 30-60 minutes of homework each day), along with nine other women, we spent time learning who we are, what values we bring to a relationship, and what we truly want (and honestly, so much more). I am so thankful for this time and feel (for the first time) that I genuinely can specifically name and describe the type of man I will marry. I highly recommend it. I was impressed how both Maria and Chrisoula made it a group experience and felt very personal to my dating journey. I looked it at as taking a class to find the best person for long-term compatibility - I don't have much experience dating, and my upbringing could not have prepared me for the current dating world. There are several books and personality/compatibility tests out there, but I learn best by active engagement with direct feedback/validation. I now have nine new women (connected via a WhatsApp group) who will hold me accountable and help me be less anxious in my dating. We have assignments to complete over the next few weeks, plus a virtual reunion in 3 months. I decided to enroll in her weekend intensive workshop. I knew I was going to learn at least 1 new thing but WOW, I was blown away by all of the takeaways I learned in just 2 days. Interesting podcast with interesting guests, but this matchmaking service, (and apparently almost all others) only accepts male clients for actual matchmaking IRL. They do offer other services like women's groups, but that is not really what is advertised on the podcast or the website. A women can register to be part of their data base for male clients who pay lots to be matched, but there is no real matchmaking for female clients. There is no way to get actual help in finding matches, only advice, which in a busy city like New York, is not encouraging. They should also offer the same services to women. read more

Had a consultation with Maria a few months back and she was extremely condescending and judgmental. I have very traditional views and have had a very old fashioned upbringing that has made me gun shy about modern dating. Hence the reason I came to her for help. I think that's pretty understandable. She outright told me that she couldn't help me and that I should watch porn to get more comfortable with modern dating because no one is "traditional anymore". I am a huge fan of the brand- amazing advice, fantastic podcast, reputable service. After building a profile a year ago I never heard back. I finally set up a chat with one of my matchmakers and was told "it's a tough market with the pandemic". However all the advice from the podcast and Maria's tips state it's a great time to online date / meet someone. I'm sure that was just the excuse they use when they don't have a match for you. I was then told about the "group dating intensive" which I've heard nothing but great things about ( I'm sure worth the price for those getting back out on the market or needing a refresh). After a lengthy conversation I guess the matchmaker decided to review my profile while we were on the phone. They agreed I had a great profile and thoughtful responses. I was then told "unfortunately we only take on a handful of clients a year (6-12) and to try other dating sites or matchmakers. Disappointing yes, women don't pay for the service but they sure do push that dating intensive. I personally didn't have a great experience. I felt it was important to be honest here. My advice follow Maria's advice, set up an amazing profile, take the group dating intensive (if you need it), follow up with your matchmaker but don't put all your eggs in basket. read more

I was fortunate enough to meet Maria through my (amazing) boss a couple years ago. I think my boss knew that I was dating the wrong guy at the time, but didn't want to overstep and/or offend me (I was very defensive of my crappy relationship for some reason). I made an appointment for 90 minutes with Marie. There were scheduling difficulties, but I'll put those aside because the appointment was so stunningly disappointing. First, they meet clients in a cheesy rent-a-suite. Maria spends10 minutes with basic questions until she got to the one she really cared about: how much do you earn? I told her. A few questions about my ideal mate, followed by an offer to "take [me] on as a client," for six months for $20,000. I sat slack-jawed. I asked her if I could get a sense of what she could do, and she described this woman who might be my perfect mate, except she bore no resemblance to the woman I was looking for. Then she said she could do it for $10,000 for tomorrows. Barely 25 minutes had passed, but her next client had already showed up and she was growing impatient. Here was favorite line: She asked me about physical attributes I wanted in a mate. There were none, she let out a sigh. Some of her clients had given specific requests, but she said with a sly smile, that they must be closeted gay men. WTF? Oh, she offered to refund the meeting fee, which seemed decent since we met for only 30 minutes of a supposed 90 minute meeting, but truth be told, I'm not holding my breath. read more

As a guy who has never tried online match making, I was not entirely comfortable either with this format but decided to engage at the suggestion of a trustworthy interlocutor. Bottomline - made me realise I needed to break from my routine and find ways to meet high quality individuals who can be vetted on the basic things which are very important e.g. values, interests, character etc. Agape does just that and I have been humbled to meet great people through their carefully calibrated match ups. I went from, "getting tired of New York's predictable scenarios/persinalities" to "wow, refreshing to meet someone on this level (human to human compatibility, backgrounds whether common or complementary). It's clear Agape is attentive to the details and they rely on your qualities and input to be an integral part of the solution, or rather interesting narrative they hope will flow well with the character they pair you with. I appreciate that non-proscriptive approach. They have an effective formula bc it is precisely not. It's a good feeling meeting people comprising the surprises and quailities you've been generally missing in the NY dating scene.
