They are donut muffins rolled in cinnamon and sugar, a delicious morning treat. Double or Nothings are great, and also known as black and white cookies. They sell flourless peanut butter cookies and a wheat-free cinnamon swirl cake slice, among other flourless/wheat free items. Sheet cakes and wedding cakes could be ordered. Well, this is quite lame...this sweet things is nothing like the location in tiburon...and here are the reasons why. 1) the people who work here are absolutely miserable. I've been here twice...did we ever get a smile? Did any of the other customers get a smile? NOPE! Lame. Not too over whelming with sweetness. I LOVED it! I wish I had 3. Mini version Bugsy Cupcake (Carrot Cupcake): Cream cheese frosting was the same as the one on Red Velvet so of course it was the bomb. Cake itself was OK. I wasn't too OMG about it. Chocolate frosting is special to me. And this version is creamy & not too sweet. It is easily & definitely one of the better chocolate frostings in SF. The seasonal cookies, especially the Christmas cookies, & the lemon bars, are noteworthy. Honestly, if you're not baking them yourself, this is where you want to go. The cakes are pretty great. Oh how I've drooled over this case. Carrot cake, red velvet cake, chocolate cake (my fave)...I've always been happy here. They're tasty & moist, as they should be. Now the downside. This being the Cal Mart location, the selection is substantially smaller than at their Tiburon bakery. So if you don't come early in the day, it could be slim pickings. The cupcakes were just okay - a bit on the sweeter side than other cupcake specialists in the city. The carrot cupcake was my favorite, and the black and white cupcake was another one I liked. They're located in Cal Mart so they're super crammed into a corner. But that doesn't stop them from having a great selection of baked goods. I work just down the block so it's my go-to place for cookies and cupcakes if I'm going to a party. This last time I was picking out Valentine treats for my bf. I choose: 1. the shortbread lip cookie, half dipped in red frosting 2. The big red shortbread cookie heart half dipped in red frosting and with little pearl sprinkles 3. Pecan pie square 4. Sugar cookie heart with red sprinkles 5. Marshmallow shaped heart with pink sprinkles Everything was great, especially the marshmallow heart. You have to try it. It's not like the commercially made ones you get in a plastic bag. The only beef I have with the place is the pricing. Most things are reasonable but I was eyeing this sugar cookie shaped like a pig. Pretty decent cupcakes in a bakery oddly located/hidden inside a neighborhood grocery store (CalMart). We continued on our SF cupcake crusade for the day and decided to try Sweet Things after trying Noe Valley Bakery cupcakes. Sweet Things offers a variety of cupcake choices (buttercups - vanilla w/chocolate buttercream frosting, pinkcaps - vanilla w/pink buttercream frosting, chocolate fudge, carrot cake, black & whites, lemon, etc) along with numerous other baked goods. The cake in the cupcakes was pretty good and moist, but the frosting was not smooth and creamy the way I like it. Instead the cupcake frosting was rather hard like the frosting on a supermarket birthday cake that you have to bite through. The carrot cake had cream cheese frosting so that was better. Cupcakes come in 2 sizes - regular and mini size so the minis are a great way to try different ones. Service was friendly as I explained it was my first time there and sought recommendations. The lady was very nice and gave me a small bite-sized sample of one of the cupcakes. Parking is metered parking on the street. I like the idea of a cool bakery in its own little store so being co-located in a supermarket took away some of the ambience. Bottom line: Pretty good cupcakes, but choose the ones that might have a cream cheese or softer frosting than the ones I had. If you are in this area, definitely worth a try. However, my SF cupcake favorite remains Noe Valley Bakery if you can make it over to that part of town. read more

I've come to Sweet Things on and off for over 6 years now (more often when my girlfriend worked in laurel village) and the two things I love are the burnt butter cookie sandwiches and the ice cream cookie. Both are quite unique and delicious. I have picked up cupcakes, cookies, and other treats on several occasions and everything has been delicious so I hesitate in giving this review. However, I can't let tonight's bizarre experience go and feel compelled to write about it. After picking up a few things at Bryan's, I popped in for some mini cupcakes. The total was $6. I paid with a $20 bill. The cashier handed me back $1.35. I told her that I had given her $20. And she looked at me and said, "are you sure?" Then she opened her register and claimed to not see $20 and accused me of not giving her that amount. Then she said, "well, can I write down your name and number and I will let you know tonight if my register comes up over..." I was slightly confused and provided my info, thinking she'd give me my change. After giving my info she says, "Ok I'll call you later if I am over." And I told her that I wasn't leaving with without my change - I was super calm but PISSED. She again questioned me. I told her that I'd gotten $20 out from Bryans and showed her the money in my wallet- no $20 bill - and was about to pull the receipt from Bryan's. I was absolutely stunned. She then went to her register and seemed to struggle figuring out what she owed me back. I told her, "I gave you $20, it was $6 so you owe me $14." She's says, right, right. Then after she goes, "oh, it says right here on my register that I entered $20...sorry!" And not that I should have to add this, BUT I was coming from my professional job in the Financial District and dressed quite nicely so definitely didn't "look" like someone that is going to hustle the cupcake girl out of some $. They're the standard cupcakes you can find anywhere... in a grocery store. i tried the Pink Capped Buttercup (or whatever it is called). It tasted like a madeline cookie. I mean, it wasn't BAD, but it wasn't GOOD either. It was like any ordinary cupcake... I can probably bake something better. I also tried the Black and White. The frosting was way too hard, I couldn't even finish it and I LOVE frosting. Although, my friend loved the Red Velvet. I guess that's the flavor to get at Sweet Things because the others weren't that great. The presentation of the cupcakes was so-so. Kind of elementary to me.
