I came here with a coupon deal $50 for $100 worth of spending…read more There was no restriction to use it on food or beverages and alcohol included- GREAT! My dining partner and I decided to go with the tasting plates ( we did a bit of research and looked at other restaurant review websites) We had the Oysters with champagne sauce ( $4 ea), beetroot with white anchovies ( plate of 6 or 8), salmon terrine ( 3 dollops served with witlof salad and croutons), garlic prawns( 2), saffron arancini ( 3 pieces) and aubergine filled with tomato ( 3 pieces). They did a great job in pairing the dishes - 3 at a time. I liked the simplicity of some of the dishes but they worked brilliantly. A few items were not available which was disappointing and suggested that the kitchen could be a bit more organised?? I.e. the oysters with champagne sauce were available but not oysters with vinaigrette dressings. Also missing in action was the scallops. But by no means this affected our dining experience in any way. The table next to us used the same voucher and opted for entree and mains ( I perved at the barramundi fillet and mussels - all huge servings and looks satisfying) I also enjoyed the Eton mess and Chocolate souffle for dessert, they were Uber yumm. Melt in your mouth citrus ice cream accompanied my souffle and the Eton mess just made me want to Eat-on and eat-on!! Great decor, the place felt really glamorous inside despite the nightclub outside... I reccomend coming in early if you want a quiet dinner or book a weeknight! I saw a promotion of 50% off the total bill on wednesday nights. For that kind of discount, you have no more excuse not to try this place.

Loving the emergence/resurgence of the whiskey bars around Melbs at the moment…read more The Kilburn offers flights that group whiskeys together based on their locale, which is a great way to get introduced to a few new favourites, and also a list of whiskey cocktails from the standards to the more peculiar. There's also some decent beers on the menu for those who want to cobble together their own boiler-makers. The set up is great and the inventory on display behind the bar simply mouth-wateringly impressive. One thing was that there didn't seem to be any whiskey 'bible' listing exactly what they had. Understand the logistics of keeping something like that up to date with prices and new inclusions etc can be annoying, but it would have been fun for us to read over, whiskey in hand, looking for the next one to try. I'm sure the staff - all very friendly and welcoming, with table service - would be able to help steer you toward something to suit your tastes and price range, but I do enjoy the tactile experience of flicking through a full drinks menu.

It's about time! Offering over 600 whisk(e)ys, delicious wines and craft beers. Offering delicious bar food. Very professional and attentive staff, they even offer table service. Beautifully furnished and lots of attention to detail in the lighting and things like bag hooks on the bar. Looking forward to sampling their cocktails and the whisky flights. x

Yep, you guessed it. This bar is right next to Crown's Atrium. It catches your eye with the glitz…read moreand glam surrounding this retro fitting bar. It's dumb, but since it's technically "in the casino" you do have to show your ID, before walking a further five steps to get to the bar. Atrium Bar is sectioned off, and rightly so. I ordered the White Peach Toreador and also tried the Chicago Southside. It took quite some time for our drinks to come out, and it's not like they were understaffed or crazy busy to explain it. When the drinks did come, they weren't anything out of this world, just pricey and pretty. Maybe come here for basic drinks, not a cocktail? Every single night between 5 to 8pm, they have $10 Espresso Martinis. As the unofficial drink of Melbourne- that's pretty good to know. It's a nice setting, great for the people watching of Crown, and with the Atrium falls in the background, it's an easy place to go for a drink in a casino that still feels separate from that entity.

The thing I may miss most about leaving my previous employer might, in fact, be the nights I spent…read morewith my management colleagues taking over the Atrium Bar in the Crown Complex like we owned the joint and drinking top shelf cocktails until the wee, wee hours of the morning. On occasion, you could spot a member of our executive team in the corner of the bar doing the same. It is a small bar within the complex, away from the riff-raff, but close enough to go have a punt at a table or a nearby machine. The re-fit they gave it in 2012 has only amped up its feel of being a bit 'spesh. Well, let's face it - you feel like you're part of the 1% when you're here. Cocktails are pricey, but it goes with the location. Live piano and jazz is a perfect fit to the vibe of the place. Most nights I've been it's been packed, but you're still able to get service at the bar in a reasonable amount of time, which is a testament to the staff.
