The worst skating experience ever!!! dj was so unprofessional. he had the nerve to yell in his microphone acoustic nightmare the speakers were so loud people were putting in there earplugs. the dj knew the speakers were loud cause he had earplugs. Not clean, not good service, not good skates, and the safety employees were not keeping children safe. Quaint, Dated, family skating rink in NE Philly that has been around for decades. My fondest memories of this place dates back to the late 80s; when it was called USA skating rink. Such great memories!!! As a teen I skated here as well. By this time it was known as "WoW" & would literally transform into a night club for teens. We would skate til about 9ish and dance the remainder of the night away in the center floor. I wanna say at some point it experienced another name change; Jamz and now Rolling Thunder. This is a Family Skate Rink and adults and teens are often extremely aggressive on the floor despite the many announcements of rules throughout the skate sessions. I do not recommend letting your toddlers skate alone at this place. While they have walkers for beginners, it isn't safe & folks don't adhere to the rules. I recommend if you are an advanced skater going to another rink altogether. Entry is reasonably priced however, if you need to rent skates, they are in terrible condition. Rolling thunder, formely known as Wow was really fun! I haven't went roller skating in ages and it definitely brought back nostalgia and made me feel like a kid again! I came here a couple weeks ago, for my goddaughter 8 year old birthday party. Firstly there were kids, kids, kids everywhere! My best friend arranged for a party of 25 kids, which included access to the skating rink until closing and a special section for dining which included two large pizzas, sodas, fries and chicken. My nephew and I got a different package for unlimited access to the skating rink, games and rides for around 20.00 for the both of us, which was not bad being as though we were there all day from 12:00 in the afternoon to 8:00 at night. Rolling thunder skating rink has so much to offer for a fun time such as mini amusement park rides, carnival foods, friendly staff, arcade games and popping music. The only negative I noticed is later in the evening as the place got crowded, the little kids on the skating rink would get pushed by the older kids however the skating guard would direct as much as he could on the rink. Overall if your interested in having a kid's birthday party, I recommend coming to the neighborhood skating place, trust me your kids will definitely be exhausted by the end of the day cause there's always something to do. The music was so loud I was basically vibrating. The DJ was rude and loud he yelled into the microphone interrupting the song and yelling into the microphone when there already a thousand speakers everyone was plugging there ears when asked to turn it down said no. he knew it was loud cause he was ear plugs we asked several times to keep it down but no one listened. The employees only talked to each other instead of working I saw a boy fall right in front of a employee he didn't ask if the boy was okay he rolled away all they did was skate and do tricks. There were only old games and some don't work . Those skates were slippery and my brother almost fell it smelt like feet like feet every where no one sprayed anything no air freshener yelling at the top of my lungs just to get one sentence out my mother is sick because of this place . The prices online are different compared to the prices they had me pay in person. It said online admissions were $6 per person and they had me pay 10. When I first got there, I waited 10 minutes until someone acknowledged me and even when someone did I had to wait an additional 5 for someone to come help me. The people working here are rude and unprofessional. I paid $3 to get a necklace, the girl took out rings instead and caught an attitude when I said I asked for the necklace. When I was having trouble trying to get a locker, instead of showing me how to do it and get the tokens, I was being sent all over the place. Went here for my daughters birthday on the 19th. Honestly I don't know why this place has bad reviews. On Saturday it's all day skating, no sessions. This was one of the few skating rinks I found that didn't have the sessions which was a plus. Some of our guest arrived at different times and if there were sessions they would of missed out. They opened around 12 close at 9. We got there at 2 and left around 7:30. At the top of every hour there was light up skating. You could buy something the lights up/ glows in the dark at their gift shop. The food was fine, we just got pizza and wings. They had arcade games and a little ride that I was supposed even the big kids were able to get on. Altogether I probably spent $500 between the admissions, skates, food, arcade, and toys for about 17 people. I would have saved some money if people followed directions and rsvp'd two months in advance, but that's not the establishments fault. read more

This is not the place you wanna go to if you really wanna skate. This is more like Chuck E Cheese on wheels! It should be advertised as a fun center with skating included. They hosts kids parties around the clock and that makes skating less fun unfortunately. The pizza was like cardboard, but I was hungry. I skated for a little bit, but I got tired of dodging the falling children and the DJ stopping the skate session too frequently. Great place for kids and parents with kids, well small kids. We celebrated my niece birthday here On 6/5/22. Manager was great, she had everything ready to go with the table, drinks, plates, napkins. Dj was great. He shouted out the birthday girl many times. My 6 year old daughter ended up with multiple fractures on her wrist because of the uncaring staff at Rolling Thunder. All you see as part of their staff is cheaply paid teenager workers that have no idea as to how to behave on an emergency situation. Not only that, older kids, teenagers, are allowed to run around like crazed animals with no regard for smaller children. No one is there to tell these older kids to cool it down. I would not recommend taking kids to this place. My daughter ended up in the hospital with a full arm cast and when the accident happened this people didn't even offered ice to help her with the pain. Security dude has a bulletproof vest with a baton on his back while staring at all the women in tight pants, the music sucked, half of the arcade games didn't work or were taking people's money. The bottled water is $2.50 at the food area (but $2.00 everywhere else in the building), the lady at the front checking people in took forever. She kept rolling her eyes and moved as slowly as possible. The carpet is totally dirty. They charge $1.50 in quarters to put your shoes in the locker (3/4 of the lockers don't work and take your money too, go figure). Why is this place even still opened? More than half of the machines are broken and you have to track down someone to fix the machine or return your token. The carpet is literally the same on as I was a child 25+ years ago. This place needs to be torn down and seriously remodeled. There's a funky smell lingering in the air. Everything about this place is horrible. Nobody listens to the rules, there's people crowding over the areas for beginner skaters when they're clearly advanced in skating. Lockers are broken and there's not enough staff to serve everyone. And the staff that are here are careless and rude. The place is way too crowded and it's actually very dangerous. Loads of the games are broken and the skates are shitty. There's rarely any condiment's and not enough tables, especially on a Saturday. I took my daughter to this rink for a daddy date. We had a blast. The staff was wonderful. The skaters were cool as could be. It was my daughters first time skating and she felt comfortable learning there. Some of those kids could skate there faces off. I'll be back for sure. read more

I just wanted to enjoy a night out with my kids especially after being stuck in the house due to this pandemic. The skating rink just recently opened back up we was excited about this. I took my kids and the Experience was a mess. Very unorganized, had people standing outside for so long just to be told they reached their capacity and turned everyone away, there was no real direction and a lot of confusion, social distancing was non existent they tried but it was so unorganized.They really need a better system and a better plan so getting inside can move easily to allow the community to enjoy themselves. read more
