I remember a ride that most of us adults went on that felt like a whirlpool. Maybe it was that whitewater one. We did get very wet! But mostly we focussed on the kids. The kids loved the Big Bad Wolf, the Grover Alpine Express, and for the youngest, Oscars Whirly Worms! The Wolf was a 40mph roller coaster for those over 42-in tall, not, we thought, for little kids. It was a sort of werewolf story-line. Grover was a favorite for the littler kids over 38-in tall, with several drops that were dramatic enough for them. Parents rode-along. Oscars was just for the littlest who can walk. Parents rode-along on this one, too. Some spinning. Some rocking. That's the experience we were after. Nice!

Heavy rain and prolonged ride closures substantially disrupted the visit. We spent considerable time sheltering inside a restaurant in the Germany area. One ride was also delayed for approximately an hour while cars were changed. Ultimately, I rode only three attractions and used my All-Day Dining pass only twice. During the visit, staff told us we could receive passes to return another day because of the extended closures. We were specifically instructed to visit Guest Services before leaving, leave before 8 p.m., and allow staff to observe our exit. My aunts received return passes, and we have photographs documenting those passes. We arrived at Guest Services at approximately 7:35 p.m., following those instructions. Nevertheless, six members of our party, including myself, were denied return passes. We were told that the rain had stopped earlier and that we had sufficient opportunity to enjoy the park. That explanation did not account for the prolonged disruptions or the instructions we had relied upon. I am also concerned about the conduct of the staff handling our request. Staff members shook their heads at one another and laughed during the interaction, which made us feel mocked. A manager whose badge I read as "Melene" handled the discussion. Her badge was initially beneath her jacket. When she showed it and I attempted to photograph it to remember her name, she blocked the photograph and told me to write it down. I became frustrated and asked her to write it down for me. She requested and scanned my original ticket but ultimately declined to issue the return passes and directed us to contact customer service online. This ruined my Birthday visit completely!

Life jackets are located throughout the park. There are several family water slides: Big Daddy Falls, Aquazoid Amped, and Malibu Pipeline were all rides we as a family with 36" and 48" tall children could experience together. My oldest and I liked the cutback water coaster a lot! Rock 'n Roll island is home to the lazy river, a large standard pool and an obstacle course. There is also a kiddie slide in this area along with 3 body slides for 48"+. My youngest enjoyed the cow-a-bunga play area and the couple of slides there. High tide harbor was also a hit: a multi level play structure with multiple kiddie slides. Hubba hubba highway was also a crowd-pleaser, think non-lazy river. We spent a lot of time in the wave pool too. No tubes but grab a life jacket and let the waves take over. We also had lunch and my youngest ate the whole cheeseburger she ordered and gave it two thumbs up. The dirt cups were also a favorite that the kids enjoyed. Definitely a fun waterpark, recommend a weekday visit if possible.

The room, although nice, complete with a fireplace (it's just for show-doesn't get warm) is SO INCREDIBLY DAMP!!. It's disgusting and it stinks like a musty old basement . called to the front desk and they had maintenance bring a commercial dehumidifier (see picture). It's been running for over 24 hours now and thank goodness the room has dried out. The smell still lingers but not as strong. The maintenance guy even said "oh my gosh this is terrible. I feel it and smell it, I'm so sorry!" I rented a cabana overnight and paid at the front desk in the morning. Went downstairs to Check In and was told "I'm sorry all the cabanas are full. Someone made a mistake and didn't reserve yours" I was pissed and my daughter was disappointed. We had a cabana yesterday and wanted another one today. The manager offered an apology and a "free game of bowling or whatever you want." I was also told "I will look into your reservation and see what kind of discount I can give you." Of course I got refunded for the cabana, but no reservation discount. What I wanted was the cabana I reserved and paid for. What I got was a round table, a few chairs, towels and a free locker rental. The gesture was nice but definitely not sufficient. Our table was placed in front of two empty cabanas, although they had someone's name on them by, 4:45 PM no one had showed up for either one. Somehow I doubt they came at 5 PM when the park closes at 8 PM. One of those could've been mine! The internet...it's horrible. Been here 3 days and have been able to access internet probably 2 or 3 times. I have work emails to answer and can't. See pic of the message I keep getting. I tried airplane mode on and off, tried rebooting my iPhone, tried "forgetting the network"...tried everything the front desk staff said to try. $1200 for 3 nights and I can't even access my work email on a regular basis. I was offered a $50 refund on my stay because of this. We'll see if that even shows up. The only way I'm even able to write this review at 1:45am as I lay here in bed, is because it miraculously connected for the moment I don't even care about the $50, I just need the Internet like I get at every hotel that I visit. I swear, it's just been one thing after another here. I cannot wait to get back home. As much as I want to like this GWL location I just don't. I'm really looking forward to visiting Kalahari in November when it opens. P.S. on another note, staff is very friendly and pleasant and the lifeguards do a great job constantly checking the pool for safety.

There is no admission, you pay by the ride OR you can get a ride pass that provides you with unlimited rides (except the arcade). They have go karts for kids and adults, bumper cars, a ride where you get in an inflatable "kart" and bump others and shoot water, a ride called the " Disk'O" where you sit and it twirls you around while you go back and forth on a ramp, and they have a playground area for the kids. They have this mini coaster called "Python Pit", and you have been warned . They were in the process of expanding the area to include what looked like a multi- ramp go kart ride. There is a snack bar, but it closed around 7p (but the park stayed opened to 9 ) and the vending machines weren't working. Had to take a star off for that. (Free water was provided). They had plenty of benches (some covered) for you to sit and observe (as I did) and a covered pavilion with tables and benches for you to host a party. All in all, it was okay, but they need to keep the snack bar open until at least 30 minutes before closing AND please fix the busted vending machines!

Ten of us went to play miniature golf at Go Carts Plus's Gold Rush course this week. We took…read moreadvantage of their Tee for Two Tuesday deal. From 12-5 pm on Tuesdays, two people can play a round of mini golf for $10 total. Such a deal! We had a great time. The course is fun and challenging. It's also covered by trees so you can still enjoy playing on hot sunny days. Now, the trees also drop needles, which need cleaned off the course. The only "odd" part of playing there is that you have to buy a plastic card for $1. They then load your $10 onto the card and you take it to the mini golf booth to have swiped so you can play a round of golf. You keep the card and refill it to enjoy their other amusements or more rounds of golf that day or any day you return. They have sufficient free parking.

Anyway, not a bad experience by any means and I can see why locals enjoy it, but for me it's a solid 3-star. It was enjoyable for the stop, but not enough to come back to when I'm back in the area.

Helmets are required for insurance purposes. Jill gave us a map and had great recommendations on bike routes so we could see the most. It was a really cool experience and definitely highly recommend best way to see Yorktown. Super bike friendly! It was $25 per person so not bad at all.
