Well I work at a laundromat and met a women named Michelle Bessett who does hair for a living, for 35 years she's done this. When you walk in there its very inviting, people talking, a good song on the radio, it was just welcoming. Met with a smile. decided to give her a shot. Her hair always looks amazing, A few of my friends go there and they always come out looking like movie stars. I prepaid so that I can't back out like I always do. I went in and told her what I wanted. ( Trim and layered so that my curls will go up my head instead of just on the bottom) she was amazing!!!! She was so understanding of my anxiety and talked me through it. She showed me how much she cut as she was cutting. She was so patient. I actually relaxed and was just enjoying the haircut and talking. She did amazing ! Yall really should go to her and let her do her Magick. Especially if you have a very nervous or scared person. Although it was a joke there is usual a kernel of truth to jokes in general. When I reached out to the salon they said that there were sorry I felt that way and they were sorry to see me go. We spent the first 15 or so minutes of my appointment on a consultation - not just me showing her photos of styles, but her asking specifically what my hair care routine is/how much time I want to spend styling, how I want it to grow out, etc. Then she took the time to bring the style to life - consulting me as she went to make sure it's where I wanted to go, and going back over places she felt needed more work. She was super focused, but also chill, funny, and easy to chat with for the hour appointment. It's been years since I felt like I haven't had to "settle" for a haircut. Given the circumstances, I would have understood if she explained that the system automatically charged the fee but that she'd handle it at my next appointment or offer a small gesture of goodwill. Instead, I was met with silence. As a business owner, charging a long-term, loyal client $133 for a last-minute cancellation due to a family emergency might seem like a win in the short term, but in the long run, it costs you thousands in lost business. On my first visit I was embarrassed to even show my nails - they were thin, ragged and peeling, a real challenge for any nail tech. Kristin removed my old shellac and applied a new one but recommended I just do regular manicures for a while and give my nails a rest. She worked with me over several months and I'm happy to report that I'm doing shellac's again and my nails look beautiful. Kristin really takes the time to not only give me a beautiful manicure but also works with me to keep healthy nails. Equally important - the tools they use are all sanitized and nail files are never used more than once. I could not be happier with this service. I should add that I've been a client at this salon off and on for 25 years. The entire staff and the owner are all so nice and helpful. It's worth paying a few dollars extra to get a manicure that lasts and looks perfect every time.
