Note: This Review may be lengthy, but it's completely genuine, and written light heartedly, with concern for future residents and Families considering this property.
JRSP is one of the most alluring properties one can hope to live, in the Richmond area.
The Apartments are spacious, and equipped with mineral counter tops, stainless steel appliances, hardwood floors, wrought iron balconies and staggering landscaping.
In my opinion, the problem lies with management. My time here has ended, and when signing my lease I attached to the management and leasing staff, Shary, Tobi, Michael Church who now works at Avia. They were genuine, efficient, professional and the customer service was phenomenal which is why I believe the property leased up quickly.
When the property sold to Zaremba everything changed. The leasing staff had a sense of arrogance with a racial prejudice. I noticed that Anyone of color in groups larger than 3, in the lobby during leasing hours were uncomfortably watched and asked "Are you residents?"
In my opinion The new residents brought to the property mimicked the same ideals, almost as if leasing was approved through affinity biases. I understand that the racial climate is high in America, I've distanced myself from those beliefs, In effort to promote equality and togetherness, but, never have I lived in an area where my ethnicity was made apparent.
Ex: Residents switching sidewalks, not returning Hellos or Good Mornings ( I'm 5'7" and 161lbs, the least intimidating person you'd ever notice). The community wasn't as friendly as it once was. Many residents may feel comfortable here, and may never pay attention to any of these issues, or may simply ignore the gestures which may not be a bad idea.
I prefer for my family to be comfortable and feel secure in their living environment, which is why I have been very meticulous in my leasing selections.
In my opinion, Another issue is Nicole Haines, The property Manager. Nicole appeared friendly and polite during the transition of management, which I later learned was counterfeit. The deceitful personality rattled me. Nicole is friendly in the leasing / Renewal process but once you sign/commit she becomes unprofessional (i.e snarky / condescending).
Nicole Haines may have been having a bad day, or a bad 8 months, or maybe she had an issue with me and the residents I befriended, all of these possibilities may be attributable to why my experiences were so terrible with this woman.
A property manager, In my opinion, is supposed to posses the proper skill set to run a property efficiently, knowledge of diversity, cultural, and religious differences, and posses the ability to shift paradigms, enabling various perspectives, which should be inclusive in the decision making process of someone in a position like the one Nicole currently holds.
Every time I received a response email from Nicole Haines, I could read the attitude in her voice. All interactions were stern and condescending, and an insult to my intelligence. I never felt it was necessary to bring up my Ph.d in these interactions or correct Nicole when she prefixed me as Mr. instead of Dr. only under the expectation that two educated adults were communicating Human to Human.
Only after so many occurrences of condescending rhetoric, I decided to research Nicole, and find it uncommon that a Luxury Property Manager has not completed secondary education. My initial reaction was anger when I learned that the women who had been so be-rating held an unfinished associates degree from a community college, and less than 10 years of relatable work experience.
Community college is a valued resource for many from all walks of life. And with rising cost in education and life choices, I understand some people have to place education on hold, My intention is not to invalidate the ones in this predicament.
It is just mind boggling that this woman isn't more humble in her approach. Why should I have to utilize my title or the full ability of my vocabulary to command respect?
If Zaremba, keeps her in position at JRSP, I recommend that Nicole Haines go through Diversity and Inclusion training, Etiquette training, Leadership training, and a few Communication Courses. A calligraphy course may be beneficial to her as well, so she may learn how to sign a proper signature.
I would like to say, for anyone who may challenge the necessary educational requirement for positions such as the one she holds, that Improper Education does not mean you can not complete a job, however, Education does give perspective, an Enhanced Critical / Strategic thinking skillset, And a leveled Temperament to ensure the job can be done best and to represent a company properly.
If Indirect Racism, Condescension, Deceit, improperly educated/ Inexperienced Property Managers (Nicole Haines) and nice finishes is what you're looking for. I suggest JSRP. If not, I suggest Avia in Short Pump. read more
