I recently bought a condo and was looking to have overhead lighting installed. We were hoping to do 4 recessed lights in one room, and 3 central boxes in three other rooms. I called All Phase October 9 and set up an appointment with Christina to have an estimate on October 12th. On the day of the appointment, no one showed up. I called the office and there was no answer so I called a number Christina left, which turned out to be her cell phone number. I told her no one showed up and she said she would give me a call back. She never called back, but 45 minutes later, one of the other workers called to let me know he was 5 minutes away. The worker, Rob, was nice enough and talked to us about our various options. He refused to even broadly discuss price, but we didn't think that was too odd. When he left, we felt confident that he could get the work done in a competent manner. We waited anxiously for them to send us our quote. We got our quote a full week later, after I called and reminded them to please send us the quote. As other reviewers have noted, the prices were ridiculous. For the work requested, they wanted $1950. By comparison, the electrician we chose to do the work, charged us $880. They also, unsurprisingly, never followed up after sending the quote. Not the best business practices. Make sure you get multiple quotes whenever you're doing work like this. Otherwise you will be completely ripped off!

It quickly moved…read moreto the top when my AC stopped working, because dealing with 90+ degree temperatures is no joke. I decided to call Clarkstown Heating & Air Conditioning based on two things: Seeing their trucks driving around Rockland County all the time, and positive online reviews stressing their professionalism, promptness, and honesty. It was a pleasure scheduling, from the polite office staff, to the confirmation call that my tech was on the way, to the actual appointment with my technician Randolph. Randolph, an energetic and polite young man, greeted me with a firm handshake, and friendly smile. He confirmed the job scope, and price, and got to work and diagnosed the problem, and immediately solved it! He also gave me a tutorial, based on the questions I was asking, on how to use my existing system more efficiently, how best to set each thermometer, and when and how to change air filters if / when I wanted to do it myself. I'm satisfied with my service, and hope my 2nd appointment later this week (for a separate issue) goes as well. I was charged $109.00 + tax for the AC Diagnostic Check.

Buyer Beware: Outrageous Pricing for Basic Repairs I am…read moreincredibly disappointed with Clarkstown Heating & Air Conditioning. My AC capacitor went out on a hot Friday, and I contacted them looking for a prompt repair. While the technician who arrived was professional, the billing was completely predatory. They charged me $685 plus tax to replace a single dual capacitor. This is a basic 30-minute job, and the high-end universal part they used costs under $100 retail. The standard market rate for this repair in Rockland County tops out around $350 to $450. Charging nearly $700 for a simple part swap is an extreme, unconscionable markup. There are plenty of honest, local HVAC professionals in our area who charge fair market rates. I will never use this company again, and I strongly advise other Rockland County homeowners to look elsewhere unless you want to be severely overcharged.

Let me give you an example - Lou met me at house in Englewood for an estimate on several electrical problems that needed to be fixed. His examination was very thorough and also quite efficient. He took less time than I expected and he found other problems that needed to be addressed. By the way, getting the written estimate didn't take days either which is a very big plus. He's also considerate. When a contractor says he'll be there at, for example, 9 am what usually happens? You wait and wait and wait. Not with Lou. He comes on time and if he is running late, he calls to apologize and tell you how late he'll be. The truth is that contractors budget time for a job and sometimes when they get there discover it needs more time. So they can get delayed. Lou doesn't leave you hanging in the wind - he calls to say he's sorry and this is now when he'll be to you. He appreciates your business and doesn't abuse your time. Isn't this great? So Lou Zimick gets a As Good As It Gets from me for being a terrific electrician with excellent customer service.

If I was told the cost of the parts needed upfront in the initial estimate, I would have supplied them myself. Yet when I suggested supplying parts myself they refused to do more work. I won't use them again.
