DO NOT TRUST THIS MAN WITH YOUR WATCHES!!!…read more Please do not come here. He wasted my time and money on something that he DID NOT FIX and said that it was fine and that I did not fix what I had initially asked. He is not only a dishonest person, but a scammer that uses intimidation, gaslighting, and coercion to get what he wants. When I first came in, I first asked him if he was able to fix a vintage wristwatch that I had from the 60's. I initially asked him first if; 1. he was able to fix wristwatches and 2. If he was able to, that he would give me an estimate. He only said that "...I'll take a look at it..." And said that he would call me after he was done. Sure enough, ALMOST A WEEK and multiple unanswered voicemails later... I had to call to see what was going on. He said that it was "done" and that the total will be SIXTY DOLLARS!!! So, I went in person and questioned him why he had "fixed" it without telling me how much it would cost, and then gaslit me saying that I "wanted it fixed" and then I asked him if I can get a discount but then he wouldn't budge and so he held my watch for ransom until I paid the $60. Condescendingly he asked if I wanted him to open the caseback after I was standing there examining my watch to see what he did, I noticed that the dial was STILL LOOSE and I asked him why it was still loose but he gaslit me saying that it was the rotor making all the noise when in reality I know about watches and that I can see with my very eyes that the dial was moving around (rotors don't sound like that). He continued to press me to pay $60 on something that wasn't fixed and on something that he himself said took "an hour and a half" long to "fix". He himself said that he charges half the value of the watch, while online I can buy the same model for the same price he was charging me. While I was contemplating on leaving the watch, He went to go to his desk and pretended that he was "fixing something" (he was just fiddling with something). I kept asking him for at least 50 but he said I was wasting his time (no pun intended) and continued to hold my watch for ransom. He was being all passive aggressive when I was trying to negotiate a more reasonable price and he was trying to take advantage of my "naivety" because I was young. All I wanted was to see if my watch can be fixed and now lost $60 for no reason. I want a refund and I am very displeased. PLEASE DO NOT COME HERE I WISH I HAD GONE SOMEWHERE ELSE

Do not, and I do ask, do not even let this guy see your watch. I made a super mistake and put my…read moregold antique pocket watch into the washer and dryer. Broke the crystal, lost a hand and did some inside the case damage, he says he is in South Thomaston, but I had to bring the watch all the way to Boothbay for him to see. He said there was damage and that he would be able to fix it, the cost would be about $250.00 and I agreed. He said to give him a couple weeks and give him a call, he wrote the fix order on the back of his business card as a receipt. Almost three weeks later I gave him a call and he stated he had not worked on it and that it was sitting in a oil bath to fight "rust" that was building on the watch, again he said give him a week and call. I did this. A week later I called and once again he stated he has not had the time to work on my watch as he was busy with "spring time clean up" yard work. He stated to give him another week and call. Once again I gave him a week and called, he stated he did not do any work on the watch and that it was sitting at the shop and he has not been to the shop that week. At this point I was done and said, "do I need to take this some place else" and he stated to just give him a week and call and this I did, when I called for the 5th time, he stated he was not able to find the parts that he needed and that maybe if I could find a bigger shop they might be able to find the parts. All of this after he stated to me that he had all the parts needed to fix this watch, including the crystal. He said he wanted to install a plastic crystal as it would be stronger. I told him I wanted my watch back and he stated he would get it out of the "oil bath" and for me to go back to Boothbay and pick it up, "NO CHARGE" and that the oil bath will have helped the next person with the "rust" problem. A week later I picked it up, it was in a plastic sandwich bag with a business card with my name and "NO CHARGE" written on it. I got this to another repair shop and told them the story of John Thomas and they said there was no "oil " used inside the watch I stated it was sitting in a oil bath according to Mr. Thomas , she stated there was no oil as there was still residue on parts from the washer inside the watch and no sign of any oil. Do not waste your time on this clown. He is no professional in any sense of the word and lied about the oil. I would also think if there was oil involved there would have been oil inside the plastic bag he gave my watch back in! I spent more time writing this review than he did working on my watch! Maybe if you need a battery replaced he would be ok, but take it to radio shack and get it done right! I had to give him one star or I could not post this, if it were up to me he would not have that one star!

I had a budget of about 1000$ so I just knew I'd find one. I did! It had no price tag on it anywhere. My husband very carefully started to lift the side to see if it was underneath. The owner I'm assuming, a wretched woman with silver hair, proceeded to treat us like toddlers. She rudely chastised him loudly. We don't pick that up! She yelled. He immediately let it go. Then, she could have recovered and made a sale. Look, I get it, it's expensive, but you don't have to act like a banshee. But no. She stuck with being rude. I'm sorry he said, she said, loudly.... THATS WHY WE ASK. That was it. I was done. She tried to recover saying, well it's $650, soooo.... Like we couldn't have afforded it anyway. This is the second time I've had a bad experience here, with that same woman. I gave it the benefit of a doubt, but she's just a rude jerk. The prices here are ridiculous. I could buy the onyx lamp online for about 250-450, but finding the specimen and supporting small business is the reason I don't. I won't be coming back here.

They send all jewelry repairs out to who knows where to get the job done. It took over six weeks and at least 4 unanswered phone calls. I finally got my earring back, however it cost $120 to replace a simple post. So, beware, get an estimate in writing. Kim was full of excuses why it took so long when I finally got a hold of her. I will NEVER go back. The jewlery in the store is pretty, but the customer service sucks!
