Earlier this year I made the decision to focus on my oral health care just as I had done for the previous 10 years. The difference this time is that I actually did it - well, I am doing it. I have never gone to a dentist on a regular basis and somehow, I have been lucky to not have any major issues despite my laziness. I made an appointment and I shared the good news with a co-worker. He suggested, rather strongly, that I visit Dr. Hawks. I have great respect for this guy so I promptly made an appointment per his recommendation and cancelled my original appointment. I am thrilled that I took his advice! Dr. Hawks is so kind, professional, patient and overall fantastic!!! He examined my mouth and teeth, we discussed my oral health care history (lack thereof), he asked questions about my concerns and provided great advice. We made a plan that would work best for me - taking into consideration my insurance benefits - and we were off and running. I hadn't had my teeth cleaned in a very long time as no other dentist would touch them without doing a bunch of other work first. Dr. Hawks did agree that I needed (another) root canal so we did that. I was totally fine with that - crazy but true. I was then able to get my teeth cleaned! Dr. Hawks knew this was an important goal of mine. Megan did the first half of the cleaning and I couldn't have picked a better person for that initial cleaning. She is so bright and enthusiastic that even though it was not a pleasant experience, I really did enjoy her attitude through it all. My other cleaning and follow-up visits have been with Sheila. She is awesome as well. She keeps me smiling and laughing the entire time - an amazing feat since she is poking and prodding my gums at the same time. The office manager (I don't know what her title is but the gal who checks out patients and runs the insurance stuff) is April. April is amazing - she sure knows her stuff and just makes everything seem better. You can't help but smile when you see her and laugh when you speak with her. She is a breath of fresh air when you walk into the office. Dr. Hawks is a member of CareCredit which is a program that allows you to qualify for a credit card to use on medical expenses. There are interest free options with the card. He also has a referral program so if someone fills out a card and you turn it in, you both get a gift as a token of his appreciation. I just cannot say enough good things about this dental office - even the background music is great! Of course, it is hard to sing with fingers and tools in your mouth but that doesn't stop me from trying! I look forward to a bright future with them. read more
