I haven't had a single issue with it and it literally feels like a real tooth. My cleaning was by far the best I've ever had too! They use an ultrasonic cleaning method that did an amazing job! You don't know clean until you have this done here. I'm still so happy with Hove that I bumped my original rating from 4 stars up to 5 stars! I can actually say I don't mind going to see the dentist now. :-) I just moved to Iowa and needed a dentist ASAP! I had a broken tooth that required a temp repair until I can get a crown. I saw a positive review about Hove and decided to give it a try. They got me in within 2 days to patch my tooth, which was adequate timing given my situation. I definitely didn't need a same-day appointment. Upon arrival this morning, I was greeted professionally and kindly, and everything was explained clearly to me across the board. I never felt rushed or like I was inconveniencing anyone with my questions, and all of the staff happily answered any questions I had. I gave 4 stars for now since I only had one procedure done today. I'll post an update and hopefully bump it to 5 stars after I have my crown work done. So far I definitely recommend Hove if you're looking for dental care!! Another plus is the location is easy to find, new, clean, and has modern equipment!

I was referred to Dr. Erickson a few weeks ago due to a root canal that was too complicated for my…read moreregular dentist. No fault to the dentist, I just have longer roots than the average human apparently. First of all, he was able to see me the same day. My past experiences with being referred to endodontist usually meant waiting another week or more before I could be seen. Dr Erickson and his team were able to get me numb enough to finish the root canal. I didn't feel any pain and they even gave me a blanket and some apple juice because I was cold and shaking from the additional numbing they did. Afterwards they provided after hours number in case I had any issues. I was able to text him and he would always respond promptly and put up with my constant worries and questions. Unfortunately I did have to go back and have an apicoectomy on the same tooth. Due to the complications from the initial root canal and my lovely long root! Now I've had countless work done on my mouth but this procedure scared me to death. The team there were very patient with me and put me at ease. I'm recovering from it now and so far everything is going good. It's definitely reassuring to know if I do have anymore problems that he will be there. I wish he was an oral surgeon. I'd go to him in a heartbeat to have implants done. If I ever do need anymore endodontic treatment, he is the only endodontist I'll go to as well as if any of my family will require it.

I was told at my last visit to finish my current trays and that they would order more or remove the attachments afterward. Now I am being told I must pay additional fees just to have the orthodontic attachments removed and to receive retainers, which I believed were included in my original treatment plan. After being in trays for several years and going through multiple refinements, this has been extremely disappointing and stressful. Communication has been poor, and I do not feel my treatment was handled professionally or with clear expectations. I would encourage others to get everything in writing and ask detailed questions about what happens at the end of treatment.

It was a herculean task to get him to communicate with the other professionals he referred me to. He delayed my treatment and wouldn't even say hello, whenever he had to interact with me (which were rare occasions). I assumed that he didn't realize the difficulty of the case, and knew he was probably not capable of doing the job. He could have just said so, instead of treating me in such an unethical, inhumane and humiliating fashion at the most vulnerable time in my life. His assistant probably noticed and attempted to make up for his rude and unprofessional behavior, and that was very appreciated (she is a sweetheart.) The location is convenient and in between work and home so I drove by at least twice a day and decided to look into them. It's located in a business strip and has it's own parking lot. When I walk in, Monica has always greeted me warmly. She is one of the office assistants and she was so incredibly helpful and friendly. I was trying to get my records switched over and Monica offered to take care of it. There were issues where my former dentist office LOST my records but Monica helped me sort out what to do and called my insurance company to make sure I was covered and good to go. I so appreciated everything she did because she could have left it to me but actually wanted to help. Lori was my dental hygienist and I swear she is the best! It was my first cleaning ever that did not hurt at all! She's very gentle and provides caring advice on how to keep up with my dental hygiene with no judgment (yes, I really should floss more!). Dr. McDonald is also great. He gave me options of what I could do for some of my dental concerns and answered all my questions. You could tell he really cares and takes pride in his work. Never pressured me into choosing any services either. My husband who has really sensitive teeth and gums said that it was pretty much pain free for him too and a lot better than other places he's been. He also agreed that Dr. McDonald was really informative about his options and no pressure to get work done. I could seriously go on and on but I won't. Just want to say I highly recommend anyone looking for a dentist in the DSM area to consider McDonald Family Dentistry for their staff and the care they give their patients. Such a great practice overall!
