I wanted to take my time before writing this review, but after more than three years since my…read morearthroscopic surgery with Dr. Nikhil Verma at Rush Orthopedic, I feel compelled to warn others about my experience. I was assured I would see positive results within 6 to 16 months--yet my condition has only worsened. I initially sought Dr. Verma's help for persistent shoulder pain during heavy pushing exercises. My MRI showed no structural damage--everything was clean. Despite this, he recommended an exploratory procedure, stating he frequently performed them on athletic individuals like me with a supposed 98% success rate. He assured me that, at worst, I'd be no worse off than before. Trusting him was the worst mistake of my life. After a failed cortisone test in my biceps tendon, I proceeded with surgery. Post-operation, Dr. Verma claimed he had "found the problem" and performed a biceps tenodesis, debridement, and shaved down a bone spur--despite the cortisone injection showing no effect, which should have been a red flag. Months passed, then a year, then three, and now I live with chronic, debilitating pain that has completely changed my life. I have spent over $100,000 out of pocket seeing specialists, physical therapists, and pain experts worldwide. I can no longer sleep properly, run without flare-ups, or maintain the active lifestyle I once had. The toll this has taken on my marriage and overall well-being is immeasurable. Every specialist I've consulted since--including four orthopedic surgeons--has confirmed that my surgery was unnecessary. Dr. Verma knowingly operated on a healthy shoulder, and I have since met several other young athletes that also saw Dr Verma who suffered the same outcome. In the end, after causing this damage, he told me he couldn't help me and advised me to seek other doctors. My final visits to him were a joke--waiting 1-2 hours only to be seen by his PAs or colleagues instead. He completely avoided facing the consequences of his actions. Coward If you are considering surgery with Dr. Nikhil Verma at Rush Orthopedic, please learn from my mistake. Get multiple opinions. Exhaust every non-surgical option first. This man prioritizes profit over patient well-being, and once the damage is done, there is no accountability. Shame on you, Dr. Verma--I hope whatever money you made off my suffering was worth it.
