Reading another review on here, the doctor's assistant that I mention in my previous review, her name is Aria. I think maybe they should work on her professionalism. She seems like a sweet lady, but she contributed to my (and apparently another reviewer's) discomfort read more

Exceptional doctor. Dr. Aria listens carefully, makes you feel comfortable, explains process & procedures thoroughly and is such a kind soul. I have found my local doctor. read more

I've been coming to Dr. James Aria for a while now and let me just say he is the best! He has very well bedside manners, and a VERY knowledgeable doctor. Office staff was excellent and are always on running on time. I have referred all my friends and family members to see Dr. James, and they have all been very pleased. I was particularly thankful when my mom came in for an appointment and he noticed a lump on her breast. If it wouldn't have been caught in time, it could have potentially turned into cancer. read more

Dr. Aria has been my doctor for over 10 years. I couldn't ask for a better doctor! When I first came to him I was experiencing extreme pain which other doctors just said was cramps associated with my period. He took the time to talk things through with me and did other additional tests to find the real problem -- I had a growth causing pain! I've been seeing him ever since. I couldn't be happier with him and his staff who have kept me healthy for years. read more

The front lobby of this place leaves much to be desired. Despite my better judgement, I decided to go through with my first appointment. Don't expect acknowledgment of your existence when you walk into the door from any of the secretaries by the way. When I walked into the patient room, there was patient files and random papers all over the place. Getting the well women's exam, the assistant, Aria, was in the room as a female chaperone and despite the Gynecologist being a male, she made the experience far more uncomfortable by discrediting the pain that I was experiencing and saying inappropriate comments such as "this is no different than a penis." I received an ultrasound and was found to have some ovarian cysts in which they made a huge deal of and scared the hell out of me, so they had me schedule a follow up a month later. I showed up about a month later for my appointment and told them why I was there, for a follow up. I guess they did not keep or have any of the files that they had on me - so I had to explain to them exactly what care I was given and what I was diagnosed with - AT THEIR OFFICE. I am assuming that this is due to Dr. Aria's terrible secretary, Aria, which i'm assuming is his wife because they have the same name - however, Dr. Aria also seems old fashioned and out-of-touch with new technology and resources as well. I am no doctor but I was for sure told some outdated information. After giving me an ultrasound, they (Aria and Dr Aria) decide to say that this is not a big deal at all and requires no follow up or treatment. So which one is it????? Why were you telling me one month ago that this was some huge deal before and now it happens to most women??????? Despite their opinion, I insisted on some kind of treatment since I was already there and they advised me that birth control could help with them. I had previous horrible experiences with all forms of birth control so I was prescribed the lowest dose of the pill that I could receive. Well, unfortunately, at my fault, I lost my prescription and asked them for a new one. It took them TWO months to provide me with a new prescription. In those two months, I had to go to the office two separate times to pick up samples of the birth control. One of the times I guess no one wanted to speak to me so it was left outside in a hazard bag. I would like to add that during these two months, I called the office continuously and either received no pick up or an attitude from some different secretary. I explained several times to the secretaries that I have no access to my mobile phone during normal work hours and left them my office phone. Then comes Aria's excuse for taking two months to return my prescription - "you never pick up the phone." Well, ma'am, maybe that's because I TOLD YOU NOT TO CALL MY MOBILE PHONE. Last but not least, here is my final straw. After waiting patiently for my birth control prescription - I go to fill it at my pharmacy and it requires a "prior-authorization" which is required by my insurance for ANY prescription that is written to me. I called insurance and did the extra leg work to make it super easy for Aria to simply call a toll-free number, answer a couple questions regarding my prescription and need for it, and it would be all set. I called the office to let her know this simple, one-step process, I get another secretary and relay the info to Aria since she does not answer the phone. Aria calls my personal line back and says "It's not my fault that your prescription is not covered by insurance", and then she tells me "I don't know how to do that, you come here and figure it out." OH, so since all of this shit was not enough, me, the patient, is here to do your job. Probably because you suck at it. She never called TriCare and I ended up receiving a prescription to a higher dose birth control because she did not want to simply call and vouch for me needing the lower dose. Needless to say, I hope this horror story stops you from coming to this awful office. This is the worst experience and care that I have ever received from a health care establishment. I suggest firing all staff and restarting. read more

Dr. James Aria is extremely knowledgeable, caring and accurate. I would highly recommend this office.

Honestly the best GYN ever. I don't agree with the previous review. If you are looking for someone you can trust, Dr. Aria is the one. I live almost thirty minutes away but I still travel to Alexandria for him. He cares about his patients, very confidential. And his assistant is lovely. They make you feel comfortable and relaxed. Always has your best interest at heart . Wouldn't recommend anyone else, other then Dr.Aria. Very neat office, bathroom and waiting room. Very organized. Signing in is very simple. More then just a doctors office that I go to every six months, there actually a friendship. My mother sees Dr.Aria, I see him, my little sister will start soon , and my children will defiantly see him. read more

If you are looking for a physician who is compassionate and will take good care of you, I highly recommend Dr. James Aria. He is a good listener and he really takes his time explaining important information. His exams are very comprehensive and he always takes the time to call me himself with my test results. He has a great assistant who is very helpful and answers all my questions whenever I call the office. The front office is superb--they answer phone calls directly instead of having patients go through the laborious process of listening to an automated system. Although the office is small, it is efficient and everyone is nice and polite! Dr. Aria has been practicing for many, many years, so if you are looking for an experienced GYN to address your concerns, he is your best option. read more

Totally unprofessional office, they do not care about patients and will do everything to nickel and dime you! I came here for the first time last week and encountered complete unwillingness to listen to patient's concerns. They wanted to charge me over a 100$ for something I was entitled to based on my insurance. When the office manager called my insurance company she seemed absolutely unwilling to listen to what the insurance representative was saying, because it was contrary to office's position, and preferred to act as if she was confused. I was seriously unimpressed by the total lack of care and unprofessionalim. They do obviously do not care about making patients happy and do not deserve repeat business. read more

I have never ever been this disappointed in a doctor. I have not been for a check up in four years, am new to the area and felt that it was time. So I picked Dr. Aria. He did not ask any questions as to my menstruation, health history etc, KNOWING that I hadn't seen a doctor in years. There was no concern whether I would want children or ANYTHING. They didn't even weigh me?! He suggested Ultrasound to see why my face was breaking out, I told him I had stress and know exactly how to battle the few pimples. He persisted on Ultrasound, which I declined because I thought it to be unnecessary. After I denied that he was a little snappy. The nicest thing about the visit was the lady who was his assistant, I guess. I am very disappointed and hate that my insurance will have to pay such a sorry excuse of a physician. read more

I have been going to Dr. Aria for 32 years. No one goes to a doctor that long unless he's the best! The entire staff is very professional. I would not go anywhere else. read more

I've been a patient for 5 years! Dr. Aria is a first-class doctor. Just speaking with him you can tell he is extremely knowledgeable. He has always been attentive and thoughtful. When I was diagnosed with a condition, he explained my lab results thoroughly, answered my concerns and re-assured me during a difficult time. I would highly recommend him if you are looking for a great OB-GYN. read more

Do not waste your time! Was hesitant from the reviews to go to this doctor, but gave him a chance. Found this doctor from my insurance website, per my policy allowed to go to the doctor 2 times a year for free. When I made the appointment no one asked me my insurance information. I inquired if they are still in fact a provider and they said they would check my benefits. Day before my appointment an answering service called me several times 3 to ask if I was coming which I said yes. This was annoying! Office is hard to find all the way in the back of complex. So I was calling the office for assistance, NO ONE ANSWERS! Called over 5 times and apparently that's private line. Then when I walk into the clinic I was told to see this doctor it would be $82.00+ plus whatever the procedure cost. I never have to pay to see my primary doctor? Don't understand how this doctor could require more money if supposedly he is part of my insurance? I did not pay and left! To top it off, this doctor will charge you $10.00 if you call the clinic for prescription or refile per his paperwork. This is only about office Staff not Doctor because didn't see him! read more
