This was my first visit with Dr. Ferrier and it was a great experience from the time of setting up the appointment to the end. I went on my health insurance carrier's website to find an OBGYN and her office was relatively close and she had good reviews online. I called the office and making my appointment was easy. I provided them with some basic info so they could set up a profile for me. They ended up texting me about 5 days before my appointment with a link to confirm I would be there. Which was great to me because it was much quicker than a phone call. The day of my appointment I found some parking in a back parking lot which was nice because there was no parking right in front. I walked into a very small waiting room but was instantly greeted by the receptionist and let me say...she was SO friendly and nice (especially for first thing in the morning). She really made me feel welcome. Now on to Dr. Ferrier. She was awesome. Obviously it's not fun having your annual woman check up and this was also my first time with her. However, she was personable and nice and made me feel very comfortable!! 5/5 would recommend Dr. Ferrier! read more

On my first visit Dr. Cheryl Ann Ferrier saved my life. She not only did a thorough job when it came to my exam and gave me advice on my future health based on my family history. When she found a lump in my breast got me an appointment for a mammogram hours later. I had a mammogram, ultrasound, and biopsy within two days. She kept "abreast" of my situation and cared enough about my results. She is not only a trusted and knowledgeable OBGYN she cares about each individual patient. I consider her now a friend. The staff is friendly and just as helpful. They are engaging and go the extra mile to help the Dr and her patients. Worth the wait for an appointment, she is the BEST OBGYN in Virginia and DC. Also, the best OBYGN experience I've ever had ever and I've lived in NY and PA as well! read more

Dr. Cheryl Ferrier and her nurse Joanne are fine and polite but her front desk staff/receptionists are terrible, rude and appear to change their behavior and appointment wait times based on their personal prejudices. They never say 'Good morning',' thank you' or 'please' to me, even when I greet them politely, whereas I have seen them being awfully nice and sycophantic with some other women. I always reach the doctor's office on on time but they always make me wait at least an hour before I can see the doctor. There will be people who just walk in, and get seen within 5 minutes. The way this office works is that you sign in your name as you walk in and the front desk person, usually, Michelle, takes your chart out and places it outside for the nurse to pick up so she can examine you when it's your turn. So, if Michelle or the receptionist hate you for some illogical prejudiced reason, it appears that they place your chart at the end of all the other charts, irrespective of whether you arrived early or on time. I have tried being assertive with these front desk people in the past, asking them about their system of scheduling and sending the patients who arrive on time first before sending other people who arrive later before them but every time, they come up with some silly excuse or try to blame me. There was an instance when Michelle completely messed up my appointment time, blamed me for showing up at the wrong day and time and then made me wait 2 hours before I could see the doctor. There was another time when the other front desk person yelled at me in front of everybody: 'Why are you here? What are you doing here?' What a rude and stupid question. We were all there for our OBGYN exam. Did she expect me to yell back at her all the details of what I was there for? This was a day when the other respectionist Michelle had told me on the phine that I could come see the doctor in the morning as I could not make it that afternoon. They made me wait 3 hours before I could see the doctor that day. I raised the issue with another patient some weeks ago and she said the same thing. They completely forgot/deleted her weekly appointments set-ups. Today, I felt like expressing my concerns to the doctor but I was already exhausted from my 2 hour wait and was in a hurry to get back to work. I know these 2 front-desk women must either be cheap or must have some long-term relationship with the doctor's office, because I don't think there would be a shortage of efficient, effective, non-prejudiced and polite people to do their job in the DC area. I am not sure why Dr. Ferrier has them there. Joanne the nurse is totally efficient and effective too and seems to be be compatible with this practice but these 2 front desk staff either need to be trained in treating everybody fairly, nicely and efficiently or need to be replaced. They're damaging Dr. Ferrier and Joanne's good Karma. read more

I am new to the DMV area and was looking for a good gynecologist. My roommate referred me to Dr. Ferrier (as my last gyn experience in the area was horrific), so I was a bit hesitant. It took me about 3 months to get the appointment, however it was definitely worth it. The suite is very clean and inviting and the receptionist was very sweet and helpful. I was kind of nervous about the doctor, however turned out to be very amazing. She had incredible bedside manner, was enjoyable to talk to, and made what is sometimes an uncomfortable visit very pleasant. I was in and out of there promptly, she prescribed my preferred BC, and I was able to access my PAP results online within a few days. Very happy I was referred to her. read more

I have been going to this office for seven years for regular GYN appointments. I had my first OB appointment and will not be returning. Doctor is not available during two days in the work week, there is no after hours service to assist with emergencies, and doc is not equipped to deal with any risks in pregnancy, you will be referred out. I would recommend for regular GYN but not for OB. read more

I absolutely love Dr. Ferrier! I have been seeing her since 1999. She is fabulous. I grew up through my twenties and had my baby with her in my thirties. I had to have a c-section because my baby was breached and she was fantastic. The recovery wasn't bad at all. I had no problems going to another facility to do the sonograms. Nothing negative to say. My office in Richmond VA was very techy and all of the women in my family go there. But overall, I have grown to become very comfortable here. I love Dr Ferrier. She is honest, practical, and to the point. I have had a difficult time with my pregnancies and couldn't ask for a better doctor to go through these issues with. I am very surprised by some of the reviews on here as I have found her staff to be professional and caring, and compared to other medical professionals (including dentists and vets!) I've found Dr. Ferrier to be extremely unprofessional on so many levels - avoid going here! - Every annual appointment I have asked for a full STD screening, everything my insurance allows, only to find out that on sometimes she either hadn't done it at all and other times hadn't done a full screening. - She comes off as judgmental - she'll say "I assume you don't want STD screening" instead of asking what I want, forcing me to correct her - I've found out via the Patient Portal that she's scheduled me for follow-up appointments but didn't tell me about the appointment (to find out if it was a convenient time) or why the appointment was necessary - About a year ago, she brought me in for a follow-up and I found out from the receptionist (in front of a waiting room of patients) that I was supposed to have surgery. None of this had been communicated to me in any way before I got there. At the follow-up, she started off by saying "As we discussed on the phone..." and I had to interrupt her and tell her that we hadn't talked on the phone, she hadn't communicated anything to me. - In general I've just found her to be rude. She NEVER knocks when she enters a patient room. She's lectured me about politics during an appointment. She's even yelled at me for breaking up with a boyfriend, saying that he was "probably the last good guy left". I've kept going to her because it's so hard to find a new doctor, but every single time I see her, she finds a new way to shock me with the way she treats me. read more

Pros: Easy & fast appointment scheduling. Hardly any wait time, the staff and nurse were pleasant enough. Dr. Ferrier is friendly, very knowledgable and a pleasant person to speak to. Although it was made clear she would not be my delivering doctor from the onset, she still took her time in answering my questions and giving me suggestions on how to go about with my high risk pregnancy. CON: The biggest and only problem I had with my appointment is that she does NOT have an ultrasound tech or machine in her office. I am not sure if this is to cut cost to herself but this is completely absurd. Not only would I not be able to see my growing baby while attending my obgyn visit, but I would have to travel to another location which is close to her office but they do not offer you immediate appointments (total inconvenience). You would have to schedule another appointment and pay ANOTHER copay on top of the one you just paid at Dr. Ferrier's because these offices are not affiliated in any way. What is the point of her being your obgyn if she can not see the baby growing inside of you at the visit?! Not only is this ridiculous but totally inconvenient! Who wants to travel back and forth, get dressed/undressed, sign in/out, wait in the waiting room, not to mention multiple people in your "cookie"...etc...two times when most offices (well ALL the offices I've ever attended) have their own tech either in their office space or within the same building! Again total inconvenience and my copays are high so I refuse to pay all that money when I can just find a doctor who has it all! Sorry Dr. Ferrier, you are great but you must find a more suitable office/visit for your patients whom ultimately keep your business running! read more

This practice is rude and doesn't want to help people. I was seeing another doctor in this practice who retired. I called the office because I had an emergency and Dr. Ferrier couldn't even be bothered to call me back. Her office assistant just kept telling me she's not accepting new patients for a month. I cant't knock Dr. Ferrier, but I can knock her practice as a whole. It was my first experience switching from another practice and sadly I wont be staying. I agree with the other yelper, that location is odd and the office itself is not inviting. Its very small and the loudness of a soap opera and talk tv on was annoying and not a welcoming entrance, not to mention the aroma of takeout permeating the air since my appt was during lunch time. . The wait time was at least 45 min total from in the waiting room and in the room to see the doctor. That was a bit much! The front desk person had zero personality, and just went through the motions. The nurse was very nice and friendly and the doctor herself was kind and I would see her again if she were at a different facility with different help staff. The reason I am leaving is because its been over a month and I still have not received confirmation from my preg test nor a call back regarding my lab results. I have called multiple times only to be told, I will get a call back and the lab has been delayed. One time I called and the receptionist said her computer just froze and she would call me back, that was a week ago. I cant deal with that. I should not have to track them down for results of testing a month ago. I had a follow up appt but decided it wasn't worth it just to go through the process again knowing I would have to deal with this the next 9 months. Sorry to leave you Dr. Ferrier, I did really enjoy my visit with you but you need better people working for you. read more

I'm writing this review on behalf of my wife who visited Ms. Ferrier based on a referral. To sum it up, the office is short staffed where the doctor does the majority of the work. Thus, wait times are long and to get an appointment is very difficult. That was just the beginning. Without going into detail, after a medical evaluation it was suggested by Ms. Ferrier to undergo a surgical procedure. The physician was quite adamant on this despite our concerns and prior history. Mentioned a follow up call would be done to schedule the operation. Never happened. Followed up with a second opinion from another doctor's office. After thorough evaluation and consultation with another colleague of his, it was recommended that the operation need not be done. Remind you that we were contacted of this conclusion 1-2 day after our initial consultation. I found Ms. Ferrier (despite never actually meeting her) to be highly unprofessional in her inability to follow up on this issue and her capricious decision making. After further researching this physician online, it was noted that numerous other former patients also noted they were pressured to undergo invasive procedures (e.g. C-sections, etc.) instead of other non-invasive solutions. We are currently happy with our new physician and practice and could not recommend Ms. Ferrier to anyone. Proceed with caution. read more

I was new to the area when looking for a gynecologist and didn't know if anyone could fill the shoes of my gynecologist back home in Seattle, WA, who is amazing. I was really upset when I had a health issue that came up that I warned the doctor may happen and the whole reason why as soon as I moved here I went to a gynecologist. I have a painful medical concern that comes up about 1-2 times a year and she was dismissive about it. The front desk and the doctor didn't seem to think it was an emergency and gave it less priority. You would think her and her front staff would have a higher level of service. The front staff, office manager, and nurse have poor inconsistent communication with each other and me, their patient. It is a small office so you would think that they would talk to each other to coordinate treatment and appts. That is the whole reason I came to a smaller practice to get more personable service rather than a group practice. There were so many mistakes made throughout the few times I called and multiple visits over a 1 year period. I couldn't believe how unprofessional they were. I let the doctor know several times of the errors that were made by the staff and she apologized for which I was appreciative but still upset. The nurse and front staff were so ridiculous with their nonchalant attitude when mistakes were continuously made that it made me even more frustrated. When I was upset and let the office manager know this, instead of accepting their faults as such, she presented me with a rude and overbearing attitude yelling at me. I walked out of there while she was carrying on as I'm not going to put up with incompetency and anger issues to see any doctor. read more

I found the communication in this office to be awful. From the initial phone call for an appointment, the staff was rude and acted like taking care of a patient was the last thing they wanted to do. After meeting the doctor for the first time, I liked her so I figured it was worth dealing with the staff. I came in for something pretty routine, but was told to get more tests done by my primary care physician before moving forward with medication. None of this was explained to me by the doctor, only the secretary who was not able to answer any of my questions. I would have expected the doctor to speak with me directly when a different direction was given than what we had discussed during the appointment. I went ahead and saw my primary care physician, got the test, then tried to call back repeatedly. The doctor simply was not calling me back and each time I called in, I had to explain to the staff all over again why I was calling. No one seemed to keep track or record of what was going on. After making it clear that I was rather upset with the lack of response, I finally got a call from the doctor who, like her staff, now seemed to treat me like a pest rather than a patient. On top of that, I'll just say without going into too much detail that she prescribed medication that I absolutely should not have been taking (and luckily didn't). Bottom line, don't go to this doctor. read more

Dr. Ferrier was my doc. She is a C sec person. She panicked when I delivered naturally and blamed me for preferring that over the C section cz I had a complication mnts after delivery. I made it clear that if the case allows ntural one i prefer it, otherwise u decide. She lied in the hospital report that it was my choice and that is not right as the nurse, my husband and my mom were witnesses. She told the nurse after the delivery in the delivery room" i don't want to work with you again". She left the room blaming us to protect herself. Can't forget her bad behavior mnts after I had my baby. I didn't yell at her bcoz I felt that sth wrong is going with her & i was shocked. My husband asked her when to feed the baby, she said after 3 days!her answer shocked us, we didn't ask how long a baby can starve, we asked when shall we feed the baby who was few mnts old. All what she had to say,"the mom will be ok in few wks, the nurses will feed baby".she was just horrible! read more
