Our repertoire was most classical waltzes and Puccini scores, mixed with some Mancini. Symphony Sounds pulled it all off, much to the delight of some more serious classical buffs in our audience. It was a true pleasure to work with Sarah. She even recorded my bridal march, Un Bel Di, during practice and sent it to me so I could get a sense of timing. All our communications were long distance, yet the music and ceremony were executed beautifully. I only wish I could have heard all of the pre and post music myself. My guests continue to rave about the music and how lovely it sounded.

Thus, there was never any consideration for giving a bad review. The question was whether to give the "perfect" score. Sometimes bad things occur beyond someone's control. They did the best they could do under the circumstances, including the owner offering more than I could conscientiously accept. They performed spectacularly, despite the owner probably believing she would be paid nothing for her performance and hard work. None of the audience ever even knew there was a problem. In mulling it over, that ability to actually turn lemons into lemonade shows more professionalism than simply doing so under the best conditions. The best parts were the quality of the performers, their choice of music, and the cheerfulness of the performance. Every one of our guests were throughly entranced by the music! I therefore enthusiastically recommend Symphony Sounds for your wedding or other event.

I have been taking lessons with Davin for almost a year and a half. Davin is a talented and…read moreinspiring teacher who will help you grow and learn about who you are as a singer. He has a professional demeanor and a friendly ability to clearly communicate with each student on an individual level. He celebrates the strengths and achievements in your process, speaks to habits, and helps break down those walls that we so often put up (I know I do). After every lesson I step out feeling freer, happier, and more confident. There is a great difference in who I am now vocally and who I was when I walked into my first lesson with him over a year ago. Also...Missy is new to Davin Youngs Voice and she is fantastic as well! I have taken a lesson with her and she is personable and professional. She's also crazy-talented and understands why we do what we do and how to enhance our singing technique. She is a great addition!

Seeking to improve my talents as a vocalist, I've also taken group as well as private lessons at Old Town School of Music. I personally find private lessons to be of much more use than group lessons as it affords much more time to address the technical concerns(bad habits, posture, etc.) that are holding me back. A satisfying one on one dynamic with a private vocal coach can be much more difficult to find. I've had teachers where the lessons don't seem like they're building on anything; the "arc" of the lessons seems disconnected. As a private teacher, Davin is the best I've worked with. What I like about him is that he will keep on me about my bad habits and he's not afraid to be direct with his criticism(another peeve I have about some private coaches is that they are afraid to lose you as a client so they tend to sugarcoat things). Anyhoo, I heartily recommend him as a teacher. I joked with him once that as a starving artist, I have a budget: Rice, Beans and Singing Lessons. And it's true. Finding your voice as a singer is one of the most satisfying and amazing things you can do and with his help, I'm well on my way. Thanks, dude!

I would like to start this off by saying I emailed this company a month after my wedding with the…read morefollowing feedback and they never answered. I also posted this experience on another wedding website and I believe this company had my review taken down. I have yet to hear from anybody at music by design. we hired music by design for our June 29, 2025 wedding. we first met with our DJ the Thursday before our Sunday wedding. we told him what specific songs we wanted for specified moments. the processional song we chose was supposed to be an instrumental song, and we emphasize that because in their system we couldnt link to the instrumental version. before the ceremony, I was going over timing details with the DJ and again said all ceremony music was instrumental. lo and behold the DJ played the non instrumental version of the song which unfortunately had pretty explicit lyrics, which is why we wanted to instrumental version played. it took him about a minute to turn it off and play something else. then he messed up the timing for the brides processional song because of it. after the ceremony, he approached us and proceeded to laugh in our faces about the mix up. claimed the office sent him that song and he listened to it with his wife and thought it was an odd choice, but I guess not enough to confirm it with us? we had given him a playlist for dinner and specific requests for dancing. We had 3 charli xcx songs on our request list and all three were played back to back. it was like 10 straight mins of charli xcx and some of our friends made comments, so it was noticeable and seemed extremely lazy on the djs behalf. we also provided a do not play list. we had guests coming up to us all night complaining that they were requesting songs and being told no it's on the do not play list. I'm not really sure why the DJ needed to communicate that to our guests because it did get back to us.

We had a lot of older guests and he played a lot of music catered to them. Then as the night went on he played more 90's, 2000's music for the younger crowd that stayed. We made a couple of adjustments throughout our wedding and he was so flexible and chill about it. My dad wanted to transition to songs during the father daughter dance and Jim did it beautifully. I wanted our exit song for the ceremony to start at a certain verse and he did it so easily. Jim was great and pleasure to work with. Music by design was so easy to work with as well! My husband and I actually were going to book another DJ who was not communicative with us, told us one thing one time and another thing, another time, had hidden fees. When I was booking with music by design, Music by design actually told me what the hidden fee was for (event insurance). Music by design was the complete opposite, they were straightforward and up front about their policies and procedures. Very reasonably priced and I was able to chat them before my wedding to ask a few questions. Also, they have this website that you input all of your musical selection into-it was so easy.
