Jalapeños may get a reputation of being fast food Mexican food in Florence but from what I've tried it's the best we have there. The food is always consistently well flavored and very large portions for what you pay. Staff is always attentive and gets the orders right. New to the area and decided to stop here for lunch for the first time. The chips were perfectly thin and crispy and the salsa had a pleasant mild spiciness. The California burrito was very tasty, and the steak, potatoes, and onions were cut into small pieces to provide a good texture. The side of chopped lettuce and tomatoes added a freshness when mixed with each bite if the burrito. Also they had a good unsweetened iced tea which is often hard to find at restaurants. Service was very friendly. We sat ourselves, which I prefer, and each table is numbered. Menus are located table side and after the wait staff takes the order and brings the food - when you are finished, you go to the register to pay giving them your table #. Very efficient! My wife and I stopped here to try it on our way back from phoenix and she ordered the shredded beef taco plate, which it was 2 crispy shredded beef tacos with beans and rice. The rice didn't have a good flavor, the beans were oily. She said her tacos had no flavor. I ordered their Coolidge burrito which had carne asada, jalapeños, queso, pico and bacon. It wasn't too bad till oil started leaking out the bottom. I do not know if our waiter was new to his job, but he was very quiet. The place was colorful and just cleaned because you can smell the fabuloso they used lol. Would we eat here again? Probably not. But you can try it like we did! read more

Absolute worst restaurant ever. The Mexican pizza we ordered wasn't cut when we asked the waitress if it could be cut she said it is cut. I saw her do it after we showed her. She took it back and had it cut. My burrito was the worst burrito ever I literally had to use a knife to cut it. It was supposed to have beans and rice. It did not, when I asked the waitress she said it's in the burrito. I saw the cook put it in there. I guess I'm a liar. As far as taste goes. Absolutely zero taste. Worst food I've ever eaten. It is actually surprising that this is a chain restaurant, but I would rather go to Taco Bell, honestly, and I don't like Taco Bell particularly, but it will save you a lot of money. Horrible customer service. Lady was extremely rude at the drive through window. The order wasn't even correct. I ordered the Fiesta burrito no potatoes. I got a tomato, Jalapeño and onion burrito. No steak, no eggs, nothing else in there!.. the other burrito was a Jalapeño. There's just rice, Pico and a 2 pieces of shrimp. Called and asked for a manager and the guy said "no one's here." So I asked when they would be available. He kept saying "I don't know." Followed with an "uhh what happened.. um sorry I guess." That's just crazy. We were customers at least once a week. I enjoyed the Chilaquiles con Pollo three days ago. I cannot stop thinking about it: from the flavor of the tomatillo sauce (nice n' spicy) to the crispy texture of the little tortilla pieces to the comforting carby goodness of the potatoes and beans, it just won't leave my mind! I'm sure glad I live close and can pop in for this (or the delicious 3 crispy taco plate) anytime I want :) after reading other reviews and considering issues with pricing and consistency, I am reminded that someone in my party of 4 the other night requested cheese on their rice, and they upcharged us $1.99 for 2oz of cheese. Do not overlook the Coolidge burrito!! One of the best burritos I've eaten by far! Bean and cheese burrito is always a win for my kids, and I usually sneak in a couple of bites. Love the Carne asada, rolled tacos are great. I have never been disappointed with the food Jalapeños at either of their locations, consistently delicious. The one and only thing I was not a fan of was the Tres leches cake, but no biggie, I'm there for some good food anytime!! Also, great customer service, staff is always friendly. read more

the last 4 times I've been here my order is given to me wrong. all I order is carne asada fries with meat, cheese and sour cream and every time they either forget something or add something I didn't ask for. I give this place NO stars. The food is okay for a quick bite but that's it. I've noticed for a while that I order the same thing but have different amounts almost every time. Today 11/28/2021 I ordered a quesadilla. That's it. The young man at the window said my total was $11.31. I paid with a card and noticed he grumbled up the receipt real fast. I then asked for a copy. They use the square app so it was sent to my phone. The total charged was $20.46. I asked about it and he said he must have sent the wrong receipt. Then made a joke about it not being his fault. We just went through the drive through here and was threatened by "Sal". According to the female "manager" he is a minor. And it is acceptable to exit the back of the building to confront my husband, son in law, daughter, 9 month old granddaughter and myself. We simply asked "Sal" to stop rushing us at the drive thru speaker so we could figure out what we wanted to order. He claimed he couldn't hear us and asked us to go to the window. When we did he continued rushing us not willing to listen and take our order. We asked for the manager and a young woman came to the window to take our order while she allowed "Sal" to stand behind her throwing his arms up.... Egging on the situation. To allow an employee to exit a building to confront or attack a customer is absolutely unacceptable, unprofessional and just in heard of. All the manage kept yelling is "he is a minor"! I will never go to this shit hole again. There are actual businesses in Florence that care about their customers and their customers experience. Not just the all mighty dollar. read more

I normally stop at the Greek restaurant when I come through Florence, but they are closed on Sundays, so yesterday I was driving through around noon and with the assistance of Yelp chose Jalapeno's for lunch. The Yelp reviews were pretty much spot on. This place does a big carry-out business - when you come in the door the first thing they ask is whether you are dine-in or out. The place was pretty busy, but I found a table right in front of the wall-mounted menu. Damn good menu. I wanna try the tongue tacos the next time I'm in town. The chimi prices and selection was pretty good, so opted for a Carne Asada chimi enchilada style. The waiter asked me if I wanted chips & salsa, and they arrive fairly quickly and were pretty decent. Then the main event arrived (see photo). Very tastefully presented, the lettuce and tomatoes were nice and fresh, and the guac was very good. The chimi was exceptionally crunchy - one of the best textures I've ever eaten. The Carne was just OK - there was plenty of it, but I thought it looked a little pale and lacked deep flavor. I guess I'm spoiled going to El Nene in Tucson where it is cooked over a mesquite fire. I could barely get it all down, but somehow I toughed it out. That is a very filling lunch, and for just over $11 with a Coke, a very reasonable sit-down lunch. Bottom line: if you are hungry, and like a Mexican menu with something interesting to chose from, this is a very good stop in Florence. I'll definitely return. read more

We really enjoyed our meal here, not sure what to expect stopping by at 3pm on a Saturday. We went inside and even though it was empty at that time, we were greeted promptly and were able to choose our own booth. The young server seemed a little confused by the menu and our questions (may have had a little lost in translation so if you speak a little Spanish, it will help) but he was also very friendly and accommodating. When the food arrived, everything we each ordered was super generous and delicious. I especially liked the homemade frijoles. My father said "it looks like we have found a gem" which is high praise indeed from him. In the kitchen, they were making tamales for Christmas that day, and so we enjoyed visiting with them and really the whole family vibe made it fun. By the time we left, it was starting to fill up for the dinner crowd. We'll be back the next time! read more

The three stars is for inconsistency. Over the past several years, I have been to Jalapenos many many times, mostly to go through the drive-through on weekday mornings for a burrito. Sometimes, the burritos are great, usually they are at least pretty good, and then there have been multiple times, like this morning, when a breakfast special burrito made with potatoes, eggs, cheese, and bacon tastes like a bland potato burro with a hint of bacon and cheese. When these occasions arise, I stay away for a few months, then invariably decide to give them another chance. Whatever they saved this morning on ingredients will not be justified by the loss of my business for several weeks or months. read more

We stopped in here for some Mexican food. According to the Yelp reviews, that's restaurant I supposed to have pretty good chili Relleno. I ordered the supreme burrito with 3 rolled tacos that were supposed to be inside the burro on the side instead. It was delivered included in the burrito so it was sent back to be fixed. My wife had the chills relleno which she gobbled up. We had chips and salsa which seemed to be heavy in garlic but tasty anyway. It filled us up before the entrees arrived. My wife didn't like her beans and said they tasted like they weren't made right. I only ate a portion of my burrito. Not sure if I'll ever return. read more

Not that many choices for food in Florence, but we picked the wrong restaurant. This is basically one of those 24 hour Mexican joints, but it also features a dining room. So, it was like a Filberto's decided to offer waitress service. I could tell because it felt like they dumped 15 of those to-go cups of watery salsa into a bowl and there is your salsa for the decent chips. The guac was bright and shiny and lacking anything that resembled avocado. The white meat chicken in my green salsa enchilada's was tough and hard to swallow and the charro beans had a lot of strange ingredients floating around in a soupy kind of mess. Other people's entrees all looked good, but all were sub par or maybe we just needed a few drinks to make this drive through food edible again. I guess if you live in Florence (which is an ugly town) this is the best you can get. read more

Went in on a Wednesday night... we were the only ones there... we were told to sit anywhere. Waitresses were not knowledgeable about menu... or remembering no tomatoes on a taco and who ordered what number when it came to serving us our food- and it was only 4 of us in our party and also in the whole restaurant. The food was bland - shredded beef, chicken and fajitas. Salsa wasn't great either. Service also very very slow.
