Most amp/guitar techs are butchers, thieves, and just plain assholes. The guys at Crown are none of the above. They fixed my amp promptly and held great communication the entire process (so I knew what I was paying for). It's a humble location; it's in a quiet strip mall off Oakland Park blvd. Honestly, as we pulled in to the mostly empty parking lot I thought we had the wrong location. But as we entered I realized what few mall customers there were, were all in the shop. And what a nice space it was. Old school basic layout that I liked. Just boxes and boxes of vinyl to sift through. They were well organized, with punk, funk, and more all set in their areas. And the RSD specials were displayed above each of the areas they related to. It's not a huge store, but with the limited quantity it helped me find a couple things I liked. Glad to make the acquaintance of We Got the Beats, and hope to be back soon.

All the records were well organized and the prices seemed in line with what's available online perhaps a bit lower depending on what record you were looking for. They had a clean restroom in the back available to patrons of the store. Also the staff was very friendly and more than willing to help if we couldn't find something and even offered us some free stickers with our purchase! The sidewalk next to the front door are $1 used records in boxes. Entered the overstuffed shop with used vinyl, magazines, books and CDs. This record store surely has some well priced hard to find original music in addition to new digital remastered vinyl. Found a few original Kiss, B-52s and Ramones albums. They offer a box of absolutely FREE records with a limit of three per person. The store policy allows customers to test play vinyl on a phonograph before making any purchase - great policy.

One of my best friends stumbled upon this spot one random weekend and raved about it continually…read more Mind you, I haven't been during the day to see how the store functions during those hours, but if the nighttime is any indication... This is the place to be. Because they have great social media, I was able to find out that Tiny Blips were going to be playing at Connect. So, I headed over after a stellar performance by Totem Cave at Art Serve. When I got there, it was a little crowded, but the atmosphere and vibes were popping. I was able to get closer to the stage and get my groove on. It would be a little difficult to describe TB's music as a genre, but they combined electronic DJ grooves with funk filled, live bass, guitar, and saxophone. Whoever designed the store space definitely LOVES music. There are many posters and paraphernalia throughout. Not to mention the wide range of music that they have for sale, even with reduced price crates for every type of music lover. There's enough room to shake your tail feather if you're feeling the tunes, and TB had a couple of their newly released albums for sale as well after the event. I am a proud owner. Because of the intimate quarters, it was possible to talk with members of the band after the show. I look forward to seeing some more performances, buying more albums, and just hanging out with cool and vibeful people. If you're into those things, you should come check out Connect Records.

The classic dual record players on the front counter is the centerpiece of the shop and definitely creates a perfect vibe for music lovers. It's near the Blue Anchor Pub, just before you go over the Intracoastal on your way to the beach. A Blast From the Past is owned by Dee Ziemba and it is made up of two boutiques, a couture boutique in front of the store selling designer handbags, shoes, clothing, and accessories, and a vintage boutique in the back with costume jewelry, hats, and collectibles. There was so much interesting art and beautiful porcelain but my favorite part of the store was the costume jewelry. It reminded me of all the time I spent looking through my grandmas jewelry box. I loved examining all of the gorgeous enamel pins and earrings that used to adorn the classiest of ladies. I also loved a Chanel bag and a really cool pair of Gucci sunglasses.
