Hard to review a place where the owners don't even take time to claim the yelp profile. Also tough to eat at a restaurant that's never open. Now I will say I've eaten here twice. (The other call it 5 times I tried to eat here but they were closed.) The brisket is on point just like everyone else said. Okay well I guess that's it. WOW THAT WAS THE BEST SANDWICH EVER!!! It felt like stopping by a family members house and they loaded you up with a plate full of quality smoked food. I wasn't expecting to like it that much. I was really impressed. I figured I'd stop here because I try to go somewhere new a lot and now my biggest regret is not showing my father this place before he passed away. I will definitely break my rule and repeat a visit here soon... Probably next time I'm in town. I wanna note that the two ladies working were life savers. I forgot my wallet at the movies and didn't know until I ordered and they had already made the food. They were kind enough to help me out. I will be back. read more

I remember the building was a former Burger Kings, years, we were driving into Adrian to get something to eat, passed it and then turned around to try. The restaurant was clean and neat, to be seated. The service was friendly, asking a couple of times if we needed anything. We each order a pulled pork sandwich meal, the serving was a good portion with two sides, I got baked beans and coleslaw, there were bit size pork in the beans, too add the flavor, she got macaroni and cheese and corn. The price seems normal for pulled pork, enjoyed the meal, would enjoy another visit. read more

My Bf and I enjoy bbq, but hate driving an hour away for it. Let me just say we are happy we decided to give Jake's Smokehouse in Adrian MI a try. 5 stars in my book! We ordered pulled bbq pork sandwiches, mac & cheese, coleslaw and a corn muffin. The food was worth every penny and the pricing is reasonable with great portion sizing. I have no idea how this place has anything higher then one star reviews. Went here back at their old location and it was so bad. All the sides were labeled as homemade, then as we were eating heard the guy behind the counter tell a customer most of them were from Gordon's. The bbq itself was forgettable at best. I love this place. This is real smokehouse BBQ with great flavor. Prices and portions are reasonable. Owners are super friendly. I really like the combo plates and recommend their coleslaw, potato salad and beans as a side. Their brisket is the real deal. Pulled pork is really tasty. This Texas style, so the focus is on the flavor of the meat and less on smoke or sauce. Get an order of ribs to share with the family. It would be nice to eat-in as the dining room and patio look nice, but the whole COVID thing. In the mean time they have a great walk up window for take away. This is my new go-to in town. read more

This is the best BBQ you will ever have. The meats are smoked and cooked to perfection. The brisket is succulent and so tender you dont need a knife. The bar-b-que was delicious. The brisket melted in your mouth. We also had the tri-tip which had just come out of the smoker. They plate all of the food in to go containers. You don't need sauce for your meat, but they have Sweet Baby Ray's if you want it. The flavor is so delicious without it, though. The sides all tasted homemade. My guess is they make food for the day and keep it ready for order. The meals are built a-la-carte. I don't have a complaint, it was all great. I'll definitely be going back! If you are in the area, give them a try. You can eat inside, outside or take it with you. read more

We ordered takeout tonight. When the food got here, we found that more than half our order was missed. After trying the pulled pork, it wasn't worth the trip back to allow them to correct the issue. If the pulled pork i make was this flavorless, I'd never look at a smoker again out of shame. Hoping the desserts we got are decent. read more

The first thing I expect at a bbq place is to smell the hint of wood or a "smoky" atmosphere. Nothing indicated this place smokes their meat on premises. I always try brisket to judge a bbq place and purchased the brisket sandwich. Pleased to see sliced brisket and had nice smoke ring. Super tender but not much flavor. Tried the only sauce they had and it was a store bought super sweet sauce that overwhelmed the bbq. Baked beans were awesome. Overall a pretty good place in an area that needs more dining options. Suggest a lunch special and more sauce choices. Don't buy a sauce and put on the table in retail package. Make your customers think they are getting some secret house made sauce. McDonald's McRib has more seasoning than their pulled pork. Over priced and flavorless. The green beans were canned green beans with chopped onion added, no other seasoning. Was definitely not expecting tasteless food for such a high price. The ribs were flavorless as well and not cooked with bbq sauce?! Like what?! Baked beans are just canned beans. Their Mac and cheese is flavorless. I don't understand. Definitely not wort the $36 we paid. read more

I usually go for pulled pork and theirs was moist and tasty, with a very generous portion. Then I tried the brisket. OMG. It literally fell apart when I picked it up. Best I've ever had. Plus I had Brunswick Stew which in itself would make a meal, home made and superior. My other favorite sides are baked beans and Mac and cheese which is unique. Everything is made from scratch on site. My only gripe is they don't have collard greens. And now I will never try the ribs since it's brisket from now on. This is a two person show and they have definitely got the recipe for success which will come with a bit of luck. I certainly wish it on them. I am not one to gush over a meal in a restaurant but for this I will make an exception. It is rare for me to have my expectations exceeded but they did. read more

Jakes is always awesome, we've had everything on the menu and go every week. The hardest part is waiting for them to open on Wednesday. The flavor is unique and yummy. The beans are absolutely fabulous. The brisket is always tender. Service is "spot on". Try the "Jack" desserts. All are wonderful, blackjack is my favorite. Finally a BBQ place that is wonderful & reasonable. I live alone & eat out almost every night. Cheaper than cooking for myself. This is the best BBQ in the county! And the prices are very reasonable for the portions you get. The staff was friendly, the service was fast & the place was clean & fixed up cute. I had the brisket & it melted in your mouth. The flavor was wonderful. Not a fan of the soggy coleslaw, but the taste wasn't bad. Just dripping in liquid. But the apple desert was really good.
