Georgia Frontiers - Me & Rusty!

Georgia Frontiers

This year I took my 40th birthday by the reins and ventured out to Georgia Frontiers with the…read morefamily for an hour trail ride in the great outdoors! It's been a while since I've been on a horse and this was the first ride for my kiddo. Before I forget to mention the barn is equipped with helmets if you would like one which is so awesome! After filling out the paperwork they give a brief tutorial before your ride on how to stop/start/ guide the horse to do what you want which was really helpful. The horses were so sweet and gentle my daughter rode Simon, I rode Rusty, and my husband got Bella. The trail was great a little narrow at times between trees but the horses definitely kept us on track and going smoothly. My husband ended up getting the sweetest horse who loved to stop every couple of minutes for snacks so every time we looked back he was a bit behind us lol! It made for a great moment that we will remember and laugh about for years to come! Our guide was very knowledgeable and great with my daughter who despite being nervous beforehand rode like she had been riding her whole life! Proud mama moment for sure!! Their barn cat greeted us when we got back and was all purrs & brushing up against our legs such a little cutie (check out the picture). We got to meet all of the other horses and fed our horses a treat in their buckets after the ride! We had a fantastic time and we really enjoyed the horses and the beautiful scenery! If you love horses whether you're a beginner or just want a great spot to get back in the saddle check this place out for sure! It's a blast!!

My daughter took lessons with Hannah for 12 years, and the experience has been truly life-changing. Wildewood was the first place she went when she got her drivers license and the last place she went when she left for her freshman year of college. Beyond just learning to ride, Hannah teaches responsibility, patience, confidence, and resilience--skills that extend far beyond the barn. She creates a safe, supportive environment where kids not only develop strong riding techniques but also build a deep bond with the horses and gain lifelong lessons in perseverance and dedication. Hannah's program takes place on a real, working farm--this isn't some polished, bougie equestrian center. Kids get their hands dirty and learn what it truly means to care for horses, from feeding and grooming to cleaning tack. They develop a deep respect for hard work, nature, and the animals they ride, gaining life skills that go far beyond horseback riding. Thanks to Hannah's guidance, my daughter has grown into a brilliant, capable young woman with a strong work ethic and a deep love for riding. If you want your child to learn from the best while growing in confidence and character, Wildewood Farms with Hannah is the perfect place.

Enroll into their horse show seasons or any of their summer camps because you'll learn so much, you'll create a ton of friends (who share the common love for horses), and plus they are extremely fun to be a part of! P.S. The Halloween horse shows are my favourite. :-) You dress up, do fun games, compete, and enjoy the festives. I like how the barn decorates and creates an exciting show for spectators, coaches, judges, and riders!!! Keely Ryan is a great instructor and patient with children. Keely will teach you how to be safe and a good horseback rider for MULTIPLE riding disciplines! The barn has a plethora of amazing horses to ride and In Your Dreams Farm will put you on a horse they think will suit you and gradually you will be able to ride them all!!! Oh, their trail rides are so beautiful. They have a huge piece of land with a Woods, Rivers, and a large Lake! I like taking a slow ride across their Dam because of the spectacular view! I promise the view from the Dam will give you a joyous perspective on life. :-D :-D

While…read morenothing seriously wrong, was not happy with the constant turn over of employees (trish was the best!!!!) sanitary conditions of the barn, lack of training equipment (jumps, barrels etc) and while turnouts were daily, depending on weather, pastures were not up to snuff for grazing horses. Owners were absentee, with their young daughter as barn manager, who was rarely around. Overall was not terrible, but for amount of board charged was expecting more care and attention to the horses and owners.

Both trainers have their own scheduling board so the students can see which horse they are riding. So far every time I have come my trainer has been on time and was already in the barn by the time I came. The horses there are well-trained and gentle. The facilities there are very nice. My lessons have also been very good as well. Each lesson I rode the full duration and was not shorted at all. My only complaint is that there is no dressage arena(or arena emptied of jumps). This means that working on dressage can be difficult since you can't work in the full size of a dressage arena. There are also no letters so for those who are just learning dressage this can make things more difficult.
