Incense oils? Some ambient world music to have on in the background at dinner parties? (My goodness, those thirties are fast approaching...) A handbag? A lantern? Well, Equinox has the lot. And its New Year sale is one to be cherished and savoured. Perfectly located in central Tenby, it's one of those shops that makes Tenby feel like a unique little collection of local businesses as opposed to a tourist trap. Downstairs you'll find homeware, books and therapies galore, some of which are quite New Age and hippy-esque. Upstairs are the clothes - boutique standard, beautiful and individual. I came shopping here with mothers of myself and my other half and they found me a heck of a little party dress which I bought for myself as a New Year gift. Half price, and while the other sizes had been snapped up this little XS number had been left on its own due to being an unusually narrow size. Step in beanpole. It was mine. All mine! Now I can return to Manchester happy in the knowledge that no one else has this piece. Unless I randomly bump into a one-time visitor of Equinox in Tenby that also lives in my fair city. Anyway, it rules. I'd highly recommend it, and while the prices might not always be wallet-friendly, the staff are fabulous and if you catch the New Year sales you shan't be disappointed. The stock of Equinox is really wide ranging - and is all excellent quality. The range includes clothes, homeware, interior decorations (I got some super cute cushions recently), Jewellery, Cards and other bits and pieces. There really is something for everyone in here - Prices aren't cheap, but as the items are unique and high quality you won't regret splashing out if you see something that you fancy. A real highlight to any Tenby shopping trip - the isolation of Pembrokeshire seems to make the boutiques top notch!

I do find the shop gets quite messy though as when people pick the clothes that are folded up to check the sizes they don't fold them up when they put them back. There are two checkout desks one for when you buy from the male side and one from the female but it doesn't really matter which you use. There is also an information desk by the changing rooms. The people on the counter are normally very helpful. The shop can get very busy especially on a Saturday so you could be queuing at the checkout for a while or to get in the changing room. The shop also gets very hot so if there is a big queue I normally don't end up getting anything. The shop is very cheap though and there are always lots of bargains.

Knowing they stock Fenn Wright Mason I headed there to buy a gift for my mum's birthday just after Christmas. The sale was spectacular, I picked up a gorgeous printed dress for under £50 (reduced from over £150) and as a treat for being such a good daughter a Betty Jackson dress for £45. I had to be physically removed from a Nicole Farhi cardigan reduced all the way down to a quarter of it's RRP. One of my favourite shops for miles, the prices are just far too good for designer bargain hunters and the quality isn't compromised. I almost feel a pang of sadness recommending it to you in case you take all the bargains for yourself...

You can get hooded jumpers for half price what you would pay in another shop. They don't just sell clothes they also sell: Belts, handbags, boots and various other things. They have a sale rail which you can even more bargains. There is a small changing room at the back of the shop that you can use if you want to try something on. The lady who works there is always really friendly and often gives you an extra discount if you're local. If she knows you or recognises you she will often hold items back for you ,then you can go back and buy them when you have some more money. The window displays are always good and they sell some great outfits for men and women. The only negative thing that I can say about the shop is that it is slightly smallbut it still has a lot in.

There is an excellent selection of brands - the ranges they stock are top of the range - so expect to pay for this. There's a lovely evening collection at the back of the store, a nice selection of shoes, handbags and accessories, and they have started stocking gifts and homeware too! The staff are really friendly, and they have really made the most of this prime location on John Street. The shop is beautiful inside and out - a real asset to Porthcawl.

Everything is tastefully laid out and very eye-catching and really you need a lot of time to look round properly. There's a great range of Welsh-themed gifts; toys for children of all ages, plastic things for the seaside - colourful beachballs, buckets and spades and more; hats, model cars and lovely framed pictures. I also noticed that they sell 'golliwogs' of many kinds (toys large and small) which you don't see much anymore. Something for every budget, from picture postcards and keyrings to excellent quality china ornaments. The lady who was working in there when I went in to browse three days ago was delightful - very helpful and friendly. Probably the only gift shop you need to visit when in Tenby - altogether, an easy 5 star!
