Jade is one of those rare people who is both lovely and talented at her work, making it a joy to sit in her chair for hours while she works her magic. In the past, she provided me with a nice layered cut, as my first COVID trim (so nervous to try a new hairdresser after being with one in another state for 15 years). She always talks through what you're looking for to build a clear plan before even starting which I find deeply reassuring. Today, she spent a whopping 7 hours giving my hair a big trim, color and styling. It's so beautiful! Despite that marathon, she was fun to converse with the entire time and a total trooper. She also takes COVID precautions seriously, while also making space for us to take breaks in our own areas. I would highly recommend Jade. My hair is very thick and has proved challenging for others in the past. She did a great job bringing my vision to life and making me feel like my best self!
I recently found Jade on Yelp and am so happy that I did! I went to Jade for an overdue haircut and color. I came in with color done by another stylist that needed to be fixed (a red/violet base that was a bit too red for me with highlights and really obvious roots). I really wanted purple tones, some dimension, and something that would grow out without making my roots stand out. Jade corrected my color so that it was exactly what I wanted, and cleaned up my dry ends while leaving my hair long, layered and healthy! She has earned my trust whether I want something fun or traditional! Not only am I IN LOVE with my hair, but I freakin' love Jade! She is SO FUN to chat with, and is so friendly! I felt comfortable with her from the moment I met her, and enjoyed our hours of conversation while she cleaned up my hair. I am excited to call Jade my new stylist, and I highly recommend her for any of your hair needs! Thanks, Jade!

Most latinas can relate: we love our hair and we don't trust it to just anybody. Thickness, volume, curls...it takes a pro to style it. Jade is a pro and then some. So happy I finally found who to trust my hair to. She was excellent, took her time and explained her approach throughout the whole appointment. After 4 years in the Bay, I finally leave a salon feeling fabulous. Cherry on top? Best price in the city, hands down.
This is actually the first professional haircut I got in years and I am so glad that I went to Jade! My hair was very long, and Jade gave me the haircut that I desperately needed. I found Jade on Yelp and all of the reviews are amazing, and the reviews definitely did not lie! I emailed her and she responded very quickly, so it's very easy to book an appointment with her. When I arrived, she had an enthusiastic energy which pumped me up for my haircut! She is super friendly and very easy to talk to which made the time fly by. She listened closely to what I wanted, and she explained what she was going to do very clearly. She was attentive and checked in often to make sure that I was getting the cut that I wanted. She really takes the time to ensure that you are leaving the salon satisfied with your hair. Overall, I am very happy with my haircut and the experience! If you are looking for a hairstylist, you don't need to look any further, Jade is the one!
After thinking about it and talking about it for months, I finally booked an appointment for blue ombre. Omg, I couldn't be happier! Jade was running a bit late with the last appointment when I went, but I didn't mind this time since I wasn't in any particular rush. I had a few ideas in mind, and she was great at helping me choose what would work well for my face shape, hair length, etc. I love the blend and keeping the roots the original colour will help the grow-out look better since it's already the colour it needs to be. The process was long-ish which was to be expected with hair colouring, but like I said, I couldn't be happier. I definitely want to book my next hair appointment with her when the time comes. The shop was a cute little salon on Larkin St, amongst a bunch of apartment buildings in Nob Hill. It was easy to find since it was one of the few businesses on the street. The decor is really nice and modern with mirrors everywhere so you can admire your new 'do before you leave ;) There were a fair number of people going in and out while I was there, and I got the impression that they're regulars which speaks well of a business. Can't wait to go back!

I can't say enough how talented Jade is when it comes to color. She listens to me when I tell her the style I'm going for. I can't really say that about other stylists. Head and Soul Salon is such a unique place too! It's very open and cozy. Love all the plants. I always walk out feeling refreshed. read more

Jade is THE BEST! I came in a bit nervous for my first ever balayage and she was so warm and personable, making me feel completely at ease. Does your stylist offer to give you a lift home because it's gotten too dark to take the bus? Does the guest next to you buy you dinner because you're both at the salon well past dinnertime? Preposterous right? But all these unexpectedly wonderful touches made for the most out-of-this-world salon experience. Going above and beyond is an understatement when it comes to the fierce Ms. Jade Mendoza. A month in advance, we started exchanging emails chatting about the depth and color of ombre I wanted. She was super responsive and shared several photos of medium length styles for inspiration. Most salons operate within daytime business hours but she said she would be happy to take me in at 5:30 once I was done with work. When I arrived at the cute Nob Hill salon, I was supplied with bottomless green tea and Jade thoughtfully explained what she thought my hair could a.) handle and b.) would look the most natural (well, as natural as you can get when it comes to ombre). Deftly wrapping up my thick, heavy hair is no small feat and the entire process took five hours but it flew by in the blink of an eye. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming and the four of us (two guests, two stylists) kept up a lively conversation the entire time. We bonded over everything from sushi to celebrities to must-follow Instagram handles for cute animal pics. The end result was a gorgeous ashy blonde that blended up into warmer colors and then into my roots. Jade carefully framed my face and styled my hair straight so I could see the ombre to the fullest. She wisely said that if someone immediately curls your hair after an ombre job, they most likely messed it up and are hiding their harsh lines. Tsk tsk. All in all, I couldn't be more pleased and will be back in a heartbeat to touch it up or hey, go down another hair route all together. Because hair isn't something to cry over ladies. I've gone to Jade twice now for my hair and I can say that she's super awesome! Why? 1. She's responsive! I messaged her as a completely new client and she was fast to reply and answered all my questions regarding coloring my hair. I felt immediately that I could trust her :) 2. She's patient and attentive! I have a lot of hair so coloring my hair takes like 4-5 hours and Jade did not rush through anything. She made sure that I was happy and I got what I wanted. 3. She does an awesome job blending and keeping the roots the original color so that when your hair grows out, it looks natural. She also has availability in the evenings which is a plus for me so I can go after work! Highly recommend if you want to get your hair done right! read more

Jade is absolutely AMAZING! I was so nervous about getting my hair professionally colored since I'm so used to doing it on my own but I wanted to try something new and bold so I chose the ombré look. I spent months trying to find the perfect person and decided to go to jade and I'm so happy I did! I brought in pictures to show her what I wanted and she offered some helpful suggestions and I left it to her to work her magic and she did just that! She made me feel super comfortable and before you knew it, I was super excited to see the results rather than nervous. She took her time to make sure that everything was how I wanted and she was hilarious to talk to and makes you feel comfortable. My hair is naturally a dark brown color and I did the traditional brown to blonde ombre and one thing I really liked is that jade made sure to incorporate my natural hair color to the bleached ends so that everything blended nicely. My hair came out beautifully! There were no harsh lines or anything! And I have never had so many compliments on my hair before. You can tell jade loves what she does and it really translates in her work. She is bubbly, sweet and completely honest about everything. I HAVE FINALLY FOUND a hair stylist who LISTENS and actually does EXACTLY what you want! My hair looks like one of the hairstyles I would pin on Pinterest, yeah THAT GOOD. Jade is beyond amazing. We had conversations as if we knew each other for years, she makes you feel welcomed and comfortable from the moment you walk in. I told her how I had the worst experience when I got my first ombre (about 2 years ago) and how I was worried about my hair getting too damaged like before and that I really liked the V-shape look. She showed/told me every thing she was doing (and before she did it) so that I wouldn't worry and the outcome is beyond what I expected. This review is long overdue as I got my hair done by Jade in April, but I had to write this because of how great Jade is & because I'm still in love with my hair 4 months later. Before finding Jade, I had previously gotten my hair ombre dyed and I was really disappointed with how unnoticeable & subtle it turned out. So this time around (~1 year later) I decided I had to do my homework and find the best ombre stylist in the city -- enter Jade. Prior to the appointment, we emailed back and forth about what color & style I was looking for which made things really easy. When I arrived Jade told me what style would look best with my hair & the color I wanted. She convinced me to go a little lighter than I originally wanted to, but I was SO HAPPY WITH THE RESULTS. I cannot say more about Jade, she was extremely friendly and professional. I was amazed at how quick & painless she made my appointment. I will definitely be going back to her again. If she moved out of the city/bay area I would be devastated! read more
I got my hair colored for the first time ever, and jade did an amazing job! I was nervous and showed her a bunch of inspiration pictures, and she talked me through everything and helped me come to a decision on what to do that i was comfortable with. My appointment took 3 hours for balayage + cut. We chatted the whole time- jade is really friendly and cool. I'm so happy with my hair, and have gotten multiple compliments on it. FINALLY I FOUND THE BEST HAIR STYLIST! After jumping from salon to salon for the last few years in SF and Berkeley, I finally found someone who is on the same page and has an eye for what looks good! Jade is super sweet and from the moment I walked in she made me feel welcome. A little history: I had never dyed my hair before and one day I decided to go to a salon on Grant St. to get some color. I ended up walking out with highlights that I didn't really want and was a bit disappointed. After doing much searching on yelp, I found Jade (lucky me!). She was easy to schedule an appointment with (through email) and available after 5 (which is great if you are working in the city). We emailed back and forth and I decided to go with Ombre and a Brazillian Blowout (to reduce my frizz). The actual appointment was a great experience, Jade is very knowledgeable and amazing at what she does. She was also very easy to talk to and time flew by. Her prices are also very reasonable Very pleased with how my hair turned out. She even drove me back to BART because it was late by the time we finished (talk about going above and beyond). You can definately trust Jade with your hair, she knows everything needed to treat your hair right. I have my hair done twice with Jade, first time she fixed my ugly orange red tone hair to a beautiful Ombré with no harsh line. Today, she spent 4 hours transforming my hair to a purple/pink Ombrè as you can see from the pictures. You will not regret getting your hair done with Jade, and you will leave the salon with a smile:) PS: She is also very flexible with time which is always a plus with hair appointments. read more
