In addition to an extensive menu of Chinese / American dishes, this restaurant serves a surprising variety of sushi items as well. The front room is decorated in a traditional American Chinese restaurant style. You should walk through to the back room, where there are some tables, a sushi bar, and the sushi chef. On a hot summer evening, spouse and I had water, a pot of tea, seaweed salad, a nice rainbow toll, and a special roll with three types of tobiko. The fish was fresh and tasty, the seaweed salad tasted great. The sushi rice could have had a touch more mirin (Japanese rice vinegar), but was fine. The menu is quite interesting, with fun misspellings throughout. Squid is "squit"; sashimi is "sasami"; General Tso's Chicken is "Generd Chicke". I tried the sushi and other dishes. I think it's one of the best sushi I've had to eat 10/10 the other dishes are good but not as good as sushi. The only problem was that I waited more than 45 minutes for them to serve me and the restaurant was empty. The food was great and the portions large for the price we paid. Both the sesame tofu and Kung Pao were flavorful and very fresh tasting. We also had an order of veggie rolls that were nice and crisp and full of flavor. The service was great and the place was very clean. The only drawback was they don't do substitutes. I wanted sweet and sour tofu. I was offered to get the sesame chicken without the sesame sauce and would have been given sweet and sour sauce on the side. As good as that sounds it isn't the same as sweet and sour tofu with the pineapple and onions with it. But overall still a very positive experience. read more

I'm just going to give you the honest truth. Going to Jade. Lion is like going to every other casual Chinese food restaurant. You're better off getting drive-through. Initially we went into the restaurant, and we got a table. Like most Chinese restaurants, the menu is huge. They also have a huge sushi menu. It took the server a few minutes to realize what we actually wanted to order, and we had to keep correcting her. So service is not 100%. I got my entrée, which was a curry beef, and I would probably say the beef to vegetable ratio was 5%. The plate was pretty much covered with onions and uncooked carrots. Also, the sauce was very greedy, and you could taste of curry on the beef as if they just sprinkled it on at the last second. I also got a spicy eel, sushi, roll, and nearly every rule was missing the email, it had the avocado, but the eel was missing. I had hoped that they would not mess up the easiest thing of everything, the Thai tea, but yes, they messed that up as well. If you're looking for Chinese food in Vernal, Utah, Jade lion is not the place I would recommend. There are a few other Chinese places, that may have better service, and understands the purpose of ingredients. Most likely, I will not return. read more

The meal was ok at best. When it came to the bill it was way over priced. The menu for sushi was incorrect it said 2 rolls for 10.95. They didn't specify it was a lunch special. I was charged full price for both rolls. I asked the waitress about it and she said it was lunch. I challenged it cause it didn't mention there was a 3pm cutoff time. So I paid the bill cause they were unwilling to change it. While I was leaving the waitress was changing the menus. What a waste. read more

I wish zero stars was an option on here. Zero ambience, unless you like to listen to the women servers screaming at their children the whole time you are eating. They got our soup order wrong 2 times. We kept the second wrong soup because we didn't want to make the screaming women mad at us. Ordered beef and green peppers. The sauce tasted like watered down canned tomato sauce. It came with about 3 tablespoons of steamed rice so we had to ask for more rice. Okay, first of all one star is too much. We ordered the entree option for 2, we ordered the beef pan noodles, the noodles weren't cooked and couldn't be chewed or even cut with a fork. So rubbery. Full disclosure, I am from New England, used to good Chinese in Boston, New York and CT. This was as far from good as you can get. Egg rolls had no meat in them, which makes them spring rolls, not egg rolls but they were mushy and oily to boot. Won ton soup usually has strips of pork in it but there was just 2 mushy won tons with a tiny little bit of mixture in it. No pork strip, not even sure there was meat in the won tons. The fried rice was not at all flavorful and had a few bits of what appeared to be Spam. Cream cheese filled won tons were sweet, which is a first for me. The beef and mushrooms was the most flavorful thing we ate and it was cooked thoroughly but not overcooked. If this is the best Chinese food this area has to offer, I feel sorry for the locals. Overall, it was bland, overcooked, mushy and very little to no meat in things that are supposed to have meat in them. read more

We were seated fast. Food was delicious! It was colorful and fresh. I like the way my food was sizzling on the hot plate. The general chicken with white meat is so good. I love how the portions are big enough that I can have leftovers which I love. This is one of my favorite places to eat. They have take out too. By FAR the best Chinese food in town, the prices are fair and the service is amazing. I even called once for To-go and couldn't pick up until 10 mins after they closed and they said it would be fine and they will still full my order and wait for me!! Delicious food. Nice presentation. Piping hot, cook to order. I had the Singapore rice noodle combination with added steamed veggies. Staff is super. They are kind and attentive. The Jade Lion started serving sushi a few weeks ago-mid July, 2018-and it is REALLY good. I'm a pretty forgiving eater, will eat most of what's in front of me, and good service forgives a lot of sins. That being said, I'm a bit of a sushi snob, and Jade Lion doesn't disappoint. I've only seen one sushi chef, and he's a young asian man, but he is very talented. The menu isn't as deep as I would like, and a lot of rolls are listed on the menu that aren't available. But there are enough good rolls to satisfy most, I think. The rest of the menu is your typical Chinese fare-good, but not outstanding. I certainly hope the word gets out, because it is very, very, good-particularly by small town standards. The wait staff is also very friendly. If I could give it 4-1/2 stars I would, but I make it a point not to award 5 stars, because there's always room for improvement! read more

Food is good but they need to get the HVAC system looked at. It's so cold inside that I recommend getting take-out and going somewhere comfortable.
