This is easily one one best Chinese restaurants I have found in Utah. The service is always good the owners are very friendly. The food is carefully prepared and you will find menu options here that you not find anywhere else. The fire mountain shrimp is superb i have not found its equal. Ok. I know you Utah people don't know what good Chinese is. But this place is FU%#^*% gross. I'm not pretentious. I'm a poor dude from Denver. When I walked in I noticed it's nothing but Mexicans [my race btw] working in the kitchen. So I already knew it wasn't gona be great but my party wanted to go. Because it was all that open this late. The best thing about this place is the service. I would say portion size, but the food is just ok. Food came out fairly quickly. I ordered an appetizer (meat wontons). They're *filled with pork. The asterisk because 1/3 of them the meat fell out because it wasn't sealed well. For an entree, I ordered general's chicken and it came with fried rice (this was actually decent) and chow mein. The chow mein was crazy salty from what I'm guessing was an overdose of soy sauce that it was tossed in. The general's chicken was not spicy and kind of meh. Unimpressed and nothing really to bring me back unless you love greasy food. Looking for non American food and had lunch here , surprisingly decent lunch plates and decent pricing . We had Mongolian beef and Kung Pao chicken . The egg roll was crispy and delicious as was the hot and sour soul . So we came back for dinner . The vegetables shrimp soup looked and tasted like dish water ! Canton is honestly the best Chinese food in vernal. It's always so delicious, and reasonably priced. Plus the service is amazing. I accidentally spilled my soup, and our waitress was so helpful, and she replaced the soup for us to. I would honestly recommend anything from there, but you 100% have to try the Chinese donuts at the end of your meal. I have had better food in the hospital. The service was lacking, the food took a long time to get to the table, and when you had to pay at the end, it took me almost 15 minutes to pay my check. I don't recommend this restaurant at all. Their menu is way too big, and the food quality is not that great. In fact, after leaving, my stomach is hurt now for two hours. my daughter had the beef skewers, and they were rough and tough. There are few choices in this town, even fewer on a holiday or Sunday. I'm not sure how long this placed changed owners but it's within the year. Sadly this was not as good as under the previous owners. The shrimp dish seemed like old shrimp was used, a bit "slimy" and it wasn't the sauce. One highlight was the pot stickers, they had decent flavor. This place seems like the type where there could be some real jewels in their menu but we won't have time to find those. read more

Canton City - Nasty Sesame Chicken with no - Chinese Near Me - Vernal, Utah

It seems like every town, no matter how little, has a Chinese restaurant and Vernal, Utah is no exception. The thing with Little Town Chinese food though (to me) is that the quality is usually "passably Chinese" food, but I prefer passably Chinese over Americana any day of the week when I'm out traveling. What can I say, I don't dig burgers or BLTs that much, and this review is relative to LTC and not rated against some highly rated big city restaurant. I chose Canton City because it was cheap and given my expectations and experiences of little town Chinese (LTC) food I wasn't about to opt for a more expensive little town Chinese establishment. I hate to say that I was severely disappointed with Canton City's food. So much so that a burger was a much better option on our second night in Vernal. First was the wonton soup. It had absolutely no likeness to any wonton soup I've ever eaten. The broth tasted like watery soy sauce and the wontons were these little rectangular things having no resemblance in taste either. The egg drop soup and egg rolls however were as good as any other LTC but in honesty I don't like Chinese egg rolls. Too much cabbage, stringy stuff, and too little meat (Vietnamese egg rolls however are the bomb -hint hint) Egg Foo yung (three mushroom) Sauce was super salty as if it was nothing more than soy sauce and salt thickened with corn starch. It was more than even my dad could handle, he over salts everything. Unfortunately, the egg "omelette" was spongy and soaked up all that sauce making a very inedible entree. On the other end of the spectrum was the flavorless ham fried rice. It was brownish in color but lacked some serious seasoning. Speaking of rice, somehow the white (steamed) rice sucked too. It was somewhat stale, dried out and just didn't taste like a quality jasmine rice. This almost paired well with the egg foo yung though. A ratio of two parts rice to one-half part egg offset a lot of the saltiness, but I still couldn't taste any egg. Lo Mein or shall I say Asian spaghetti? Honestly I didn't try it, lo mein isn't my thing, but when my niece who gobbles everything down in four bites or less wouldn't take another bite, that speaks for itself, right? Walnut shrimp was decent though the coloring and creaminess of the sauce was off. I'm used to the sauce having a whitish color from the condensed milk, this sauce was clear that makes me think it's nothing more than thickened sugar water. Shrimp was nice and crispy though. Sweet and sour pork. The one thing that I did like. Pieces were just the right size, had a great texture, and the sauce was pretty spot on - not to runny and not too sweet. I do like pineapple and green pepper bits in mine but I usually don't see this in LTC restaurants anyways. Although the food was a great disappointment the service was outstanding. The young man attending our table was extremely attentive as were the other crew that substituted on occasion. I truly hope that the chef figures out how to improve on the sauces because in its current state it may be worse than budget Chinese buffets. read more

I was looking for something different than typical American foods. I came upon this restaurant and the first impression, the place seems bright and clean, including the cleaned carpet. They put hand sanitizer near the entrance, and seated the customers with a distance from one table to another, the workers wear masks and they hustled to serve whilst still being friendly. I had the "happy dinner" package for two for about $14.75/person. I am telling you this is a good choice and very generous portions. For something less $12.75 they have "lucky dinner ". They give lots of varieties to pick as a main course. It came with wonton soup mixed with shrimps, chicken and vegetables. It also came with po po platter mixed of fried chicken wings, satay of beef, pork meat, shrimps, wonton. The main dish served with ham fried rice. Overall the flavor was good, the main dishes that I had the shrimp and squid pepper and orange chicken were having too much of breading than I would prefer but it's not really a big deal since they tasted good. I could not finished the foods and had some leftover at the end, the waitress gave the to go platter automatically as she presented the bill along with the fortune cookies. Very efficient At the end on my way out they even said thank you and acknowledged for being a patron, nothing better than being appreciated and noticed. It's a win win situation. Don't over think whether you should go to this restaurant or not. Just drive down to this place or order by phone if you do not want to eat in. Ps. All the rave reviews on the link in the website were probably bogus. I ordered the Po Po Plate, House Fried Rice and Salty Pepper Shrimp. I was told it would be ready in 5-10 minutes. I arrived in 10 minutes, was ignored for a while so the girls could giggle and harass each other. Guess what, food not ready... Then 3 times people asked for the Po Po Plate with no avail. 20 minutes later one waitress said "I am still waiting on the Po Po Plate and the teenagers broke out laughing. Really? 8 different people picked up their orders while my food got cold. Ok, so no sorry, no discount, no one cared! The Salty Pepper Shrimp was cold and soggy, the House Fried Rice had no meat in it (supposed to be combo meats) I had to spit out the dried out,, flavorless,, chewy as leather "beef on a stick", I can buy frozen eggrolls that are better, the chicken in foil was dried out and burnt, the fried shrimp was from Seapack frozen foods and the Rangoon was hard as a rock! The portion sizes are huge, but most of the food was bland. There were enough carrots on my plate to feed a large family of rabbits, and undercooked, just how they like them. My family was in town for a reunion and we were in the Marriott right next door. We called in a huge order and they said it would be ready in 10 minutes! It was ready and it was all really good! I really liked the general chicken, mountain fire shrimp, honey walnut shrimp, the orange chicken was really orangey and not spicy so the kids loved it. The sesame was yummy and sweet too. My kids loved this place. The service was good and everyone was very friendly. I ordered the Mongolian beef, a favorite...but, the entree was about 3/4 onions and 1/4 beef. The waiter forgot to take my daughter's order, but we had enough food to share. My teen daughter ordered sweet and sour pork. She liked it, but I thought it was more breading than pork. So, if you're not into meat, this would be a good place to go. I'm sure my kids would give it four stars...I gotta go with 3. read more

First impression: so good! The food was delicious. We ordered the lucky dinner, it said for two but they definitely gave us enough food for four! Only downfall is that it's kind of pricy. The dinner for "two" cost us about $37, but it was well worth it because they gave us way more food than we thought we'd get. Will visit again soon! read more
