Eye roll. What a clown show. Well here's the update that I promised, unfortunately it's not in the direction I was hoping. I got an immediate response to my review below, with multiple requests to remove the review. I stated that I was open to updating or removing it, if things improved, and we ended up having a couple positive meetings. So much so that we elected to continue to work with them on the next phase of the project. So over the weekend (Sept 12-13), they sent us the contract for the next phase. We signed it and sent over the requested payment. I was hopeful! I was mentally drafting a positive update to this review! On Monday I received acknowledgement of receipt of the signed contract. Immediately following that, I got an email that said, and I quote "Before we can resume, please remove the Yelp review so we can start fresh and have a positive experience moving forward as we help you with your project." Guys, my jaw DROPPED. (My husband sent me a simultaneous "WHAT THE F***" text lol) Let me reiterate, we had signed the contract, sent the payment, and THEN received an email saying they wouldn't begin the work until a brand new condition had been met. We were completely floored. But okay, I thought, benefit of the doubt, the guy that sent that email has the position of junior assistant on the website, maybe he doesn't realize that what he's doing - withholding work that has been paid for unless we meet a new requirement that we never agreed to - constitutes a word that rhymes with shmextortion. So I responded that this requirement is unethical, inappropriate, and possibly a breach of contract. I gave him every opportunity to walk it back, and then reached out directly to the firm owner to verify that this was in fact the position that Bitarchitects was taking. The only response I got is that we can terminate the agreement, so that's what we did. To their credit, they processed the refund relatively quickly. So yeah, I don't know. I can only speak to my experience, of course. The other positive reviews indicate that other people have had better experiences with them. But this all does make me wonder if other reviews have been manipulated in a similar manner. So caveat emptor I guess. Because I fully expect they will respond and try to spin this in some way that makes me look like I'm the unreasonable one, I'm attaching screenshots of the actual email exchange (just the initial exchange, because the junior assistant started texting me after that email and it went on for a while, until I went back to email to contact the owner). This one does the opposite and some of the management (not all) are down right mean as hell! As real estate agents, we sometimes put money into properties and get reimbursed at the closing table and can add our expenses to the ALTA. I've done this with over a dozen other title agencies. But Lakeside does not allow reimbursements from the ALTA and sends all the proceeds to the seller (or buyer) and asks them to divvy it up post closing. I get it..it's their prerogative on whether they should have to do extra work or not by adding things to the ALTA, but I just feel like they should make it known in advance. I will say that my processor was great. But please stop hiring mean people in management!

I sent in all of my paperwork by March 19th, just after their deadline to have taxes submitted by April 15. No problem, they filed an extension for me. I followed up in April, and again in July to check on status... and received no reply. I called later in July, to see if I could speak with Alice (our accountant at the firm) directly. I tried a few times to reach her and on August 27 received an email informing me that Alice was no longer with the firm but that Ami would be handling our taxes. There was no other notice - not a note from Alice letting us know she was leaving, nor any sort of apology for the long lapse in communication. Ami then did our taxes and sent a link to review them. The numbers looked good, but she messed up the names on the return. I reached out to have her fix them. Silence. After multiple attempts, I finally got someone who was able to fix the names. I went to review the return and the refund amounts were now different by several thousand dollars. I politely inquired and was told this is due to a 529 plan distribution which they had somehow forgotten to include when they did the taxes earlier. They didn't have any receipts for offsetting expenses, so assumed there were none, and didn't bother to ask. It took a few tries to get that fixed, but they did. They then tried to submit my taxes electronically, but they input the wrong PIN numbers. The correct PINs were in the initial correspondence that I had sent them that included all of my relevant tax information. They were called out in a separate paragraph of my cover letter to the accountant. I re-provided the PINs over the phone and the IRS accepted the files, so I'm now hoping that it's all good. I am not a happy customer. I pay an accountant to do my taxes because they're supposed to keep things straight. In fact, the normal process to institute an internal controls program in any business is to hire accountants to make sure that things are properly - what's the word? oh... yeah... - accounted for. This firm couldn't communicate what was happening with their internal processes, and then made careless mistakes and oversights, and couldn't communicate with me about my taxes. And for the record - we had a mess of deductions, and the amount of the refund was sufficient that each month our tax filing was delayed cost us roughly $300 in interest. I've not seen any offer of recompense. I'm definitely not trusting this firm with my accounting going forward.
