It just conked out mid-turn at a 3-way intersection. Some good samaritans helped me roll it into a parking lot. After checking YELP, I called Star Auto. They were just closing but after a brief conversation, Bob said he'd come over to see if he could get my car started. He arrived quickly and gave the roadside repair option a good try -- but no go. So we called a tow truck. Bye, bye car. Then Bob showed what a gentleman he is an offered to drive me and my groceries several miles so I could make an appointment. Now well after his work hours on a Friday night and a four day closure for Christmas. The shop reopened on Wed. (after the holiday) and both Bob and Tammy kept me posted on the diagnosis (which was a mystery) and the estimated cost. There was clearly something wrong with the electrical system. When a fuse was replaced it blew immediately. But Bob was determined to figure it out and was even willing to have a call with my long-time, trusted shop. After lots of research and noodling, it was decided that the main relay needed to be replaced and so the part was ordered. Bob drove to PA to get the part over the weekend so the job could be finished on the following Monday as promised. He added an hour to the bill and explained it. I'm guessing he spent a lot more than an extra hour on my car between the diagnosis, getting the part and making the fix. And, the car is now running as it should - thank you Bob, Tammy and the Star Auto team! Finding this kind of customer service is rare indeed. If you're in the Towson area, Star Auto works mainly on foreign cars. You can't go wrong here...give them a try!

Rather than take it three blocks away to the local Mercedes dealership, I had it towed to Bob at Star Motors for worry free service with professional integrity, knowing that they would solve the issue with spot on diagnosis. I was correct. He found the loose ground wire and I was driving the car the very next day. It's not around the corner, but certainly worth the drive for excellent service with charges that won't break the bank over the normal dealership pricing. Mark D.

They do very good business so they're frequently booked up-- make an appointment if possible, they take preference over walk-ins. I called on a Wednesday morning to see when I could get in, and the earliest appointment they had was Friday. I needed an oil change, my tires inspected, and for them to check on an issue with my AC. You fill out a detailed service form inside the Shell station and the cashier, who is also a garage employee, takes care of it from there. When the mechanic called to give me his report, he followed my instructions to proceed with the oil change but get my permission for any other work needed. He told me my tires were in good condition (and didn't try to upsell me to make a buck). With the roads in Bmore being what they are, it would have been really easy to try that card (which some untrustworthy mechanics do more so with women), but this guy was honest with me and I respect that. He also said that my AC issue wasn't a problem that required any work and might just come and go, though harmless-- so again, saving me cash. The whole process was very efficient and reasonable priced, and the staff was friendly. I definitely recommend!

It was running fine, still getting 42mpg, but the time had come, and we had been saving our pennies for 6 years. My MD dealership told me back at 36k miles I would return to trade-in when the battery died because it would cost me $4,000. I never returned to the dealer, trusting my local mechanics at Harford Tire in Street, MD. They kept my car running like new up until I traded it in for $500. My new car had been "in transit" for months and arrived at Hertrich in Milford, DE on 2/17, the original ETA. When that expensive battery died in July of 2020, I did NOT return to the dealer. A quick Google search led me to phone a company called Hybrid911. Based in Atlanta, GA, I was skeptical, but was wrong. As promised, their team showed up at my house in Monkon, MD with a rebuilt battery, swapped it with my dead one, took my payment of $1100.00 and left. Not only the huge savings, but a $19.99 monthly payment insured me and my little wonder car that I'd never worry about the battery again. They guaranteed that the next rebuilt hybrid would cost ZERO. It's hard to believe, but when I called Ms Kelly at 888-761-1911 today, I was sad to be leaving them. I truly felt they would have honored that policy if I drove my Prius another 100k miles. Good, honest people are out there when you look. I was blessed with taking a chance on a Prius, that so many friends mocked me for driving. (Coworkers complained it was too quiet, and suggested I was peddling) Funny, now those "all electrics" cost a fortune. My garage on Priestford Rd in Street, MD would remind me whether 5k or 3k checkups were recommended. Most were $60.00 for oil change and fluid/tire checks. And final blessing was my new dealership, who when they didn't have a Rav4 on the lot to test drive suggested I keep driving the Prius until it arrived. They even offered to change the oil in my Prius while I waited. Thanks Ms. Kelly for suggesting I tell the truth online.
