This stop was that for me, despite the fact that I didn't even leave my car. I've come to appreciate so many more things since this pandemic began, and not pumping my gas is one of them. As I pulled off of I-5 and into this station, the pride in ownership was apparent. Not only was it clean, but there were beautiful planters between the pumps. Quite the change from the typical overflowing trash cans and squeegee in a dirty bucket of window wash. The pump attendant was busy but rushed over to greet us as soon as he was free. "$10 Regular please" I said as I handed over the bill. He ran inside to deliver the funds and request they start the pump (some stations require you to go inside to pay). I took in the beauty of the mountains that lie just beyond the sign and golden arches as I waited. This station also had a McDonald's attached. Before we knew it, the pump clicked and we were on our way with well wishes to "Have a nice day!", from the nice gentleman working the pumps. Perhaps it's the fact that I've been so reclusive, or the year 2020 in general, but I certainly find myself valuing kindness and (socially distanced) human interaction more than ever these days!

Why? Have you seen the prices on gas at the "regular" gas stations? My husband and I were just talking today about "do you remember the 70's?" (Ok, I guess I am showing my age now). Everyone used to have their favorite gas station. Come on, admit it! I will admit that I was a Chevron girl. I always filled up with Chevron gas, had the Chevron gas card and was a loyal fan of their product and service. Well, not anymore. Everything is COSTCO. They have the best deal, great service and if you are traveling, a COSTCO store is a great opportunity to get out, stretch, fill up, hit the restroom and grab a snack. You ask me why? I ask you WHY NOT?!

So ... you can stop avoiding this chevron station now. Prices were on par with other gas stations around town. I got to use my Albertsons/Safeway points to bring it down in price per gallon. Jake was an awesome attendant. Quick, friendly, washed my windshield. Two thumbs up. The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is that I (personally) don't like pulling in and out of this station. Too cramped? Too busy of a street? Too many businesses around? I don't know for sure but I get kinda stressed out about it.

However (at the present, at least) the majority of the stations in the state are required to have half of their pumps full serve (or actually, mini serve) and half self serve. They're identified so you know which is which. I was annoying to wait five minutes for the attendant to come out and pump. There weren't that many people at the gas station at that time... were the other three or so folks all inside at the same time, or was the guy hoping that by leaving me wait I'd change my mind? Maybe it's a staffing issue, I don't know. But make sure you have enough people to run your business, Chevron.

Gas is a little more expensive than it would be at Costco or Arco, but when you're down to your last few miles and the dog is googly-eyeing you from the backseat as you drive down 7th, it's a solid choice. The mart itself is clean and comprehensive, and supplies everything-- coffee, snacks, on-the-go meals, energy drinks, power bars, cleaning supplies, over the counter medicines, etc.-- you'd need in a pinch.

They use a totally different brewing method, which delivers taste like no other. Now, I will always go out of my way to Circle K because of that new, unique feature. All the Circle K stores in our area seem to be to be completely rebuilt and improved recently. We stopped at a Circle K on I-34 heading into Corvallis on our way to the coast. Lots of gas stations to pick from but Circle K was on the right side of the road and gas was a couple cents less expensive. Glad I did because otherwise I would not have learned about the amazing coffee at Circle K. ( I saw a lot of negative reviews while posting this, then I noticed most of them are old, before the stores were rebuilt. )
