Won VIP tickets through Yelp this year! Thanks Yelp!…read more Giving this a three stars because I think this event could be better, though it was okay. The weather sucked and maybe the event hosts could have heated seating areas? I would even pay a dollar to just sit under a heated tent and enjoy my beer with some good music. Came early to avoid long lines but came to see lots of beer lines so you were never waiting for a new beer. Though, there were no carnival games as advertised but corn hole. Sure there are your typical festival/fair shacks but where's the Irish food? Pizza food truck and funnel cake, Turkey leg galore is great but lemme get a bake potato or something. Lots porter potty's so never stress if you feel the urge. Not sure if I'll attend next year just due to how cold it is but I'm glad I attended this year.

Positives: -Lots of music…read more -Lots of port-a-potties -No long beers lines Negatives: -$25 (really $30 after tax and fees) ticket to get in -$10 beer tickets or 3 for $20 -Beer (lack of) options=Miller Lite and Guinness (this is actually not a negative...I would drink Guinness out of a sweaty gym shoe) in a 16 oz. plastic cup -No liquor -Huge space making the distance to walk to each "station"exhausting after being there for hours -Nowhere to sit down to eat, thus we opted for the pavement -LONG food lines Though I had a great time with my friends, I will have to say that the negatives outweighed the positives by far! If I am buying a $10 beer ticket at an outdoor festivals in a super-sized parking lot, that beer better be a freakin' 32 oz. tumbler. And of course, they kinda rope you into buying 3 beer tickets because then your beer is really only about 7 bucks. Still. A $7 Miller Lite draft?!? Um, no. I can get a craft beer at a nice restaurant for cheaper than that. This was hands down the most expensive festival I have ever attended. I paid $30 to get in and then spent another $60 in beers. $60 in beers! And I was still standing. Thumbs down!

I've always heard good things and knew nothing about the plot or story of Wicked. Did a weekday matinee which was much less stressful to get to, though there are a lot of students/kids which I hadn't figured on. I used the brand new Ashburn Metro station to go into DC and it was awesome. Set and costume design were amazing and the story was a interesting spin on the original that we're all familiar with. To be honest, the tunes were not quite as catchy as some of the others that I've seen this year but good nonetheless. I was in the top balcony b/c seats were very inexpensive but to be honest a bit hard to hear and a bit of a vertigo if you have to walk down the steep stairs. I think in the future, I'll try to keep everything at the orchestra level.

Their instructors are usually awesome, have great senses of humor and really engage their classes. You repeat an oath at the beginning of each class and I feel like this really sets the tone of how the class is going to go. They show you what to do, all you have to do at that point is relax and have fun. My favorite instructors so far have been: Jason Good (seriously take a class with him-you will love it-and he will probably sing to you) and Cricket Manjarrez (our class had the giggles most of the night). Some venues they use are better than others; in my experience, I have found the service in bars to be far superior to that in restaurants, but that's kind of out of their control. They have paintings for all levels of detail desired and the schedule changes enough that you can attend a class every several months and not have to paint the same thing. They offer discounts via email for repeat customers and after each class the artist will give you a code to come back at a discounted rate. They are also often on Groupon- so you can watch for that too. I also have to applaud their customer service. A few months ago, I had an issue with my pre-purchased voucher and was able to submit a help ticket quickly and had an answer within 30 minutes. A+ all around.

The main stage featured a variety of rotating performers from bands to student musicians. I tried a few of the food trucks, including a really delicious fish and chips and a refreshing lemonade, topped off with churros and horchata. It was an extremely hot day, and there was limited room for seating and shade. It would have been nice to have a cooling station available, although the mall is nearby if a break is needed from the heat. There was plenty of parking on all sides, so it was nice not to worry about traveling a long distance like some other local taste events. Overall, it was a nice visit, and I learned about several new businesses. I wouldn't mind visiting again next year.

How can it with the spectacular view right by the water. The theater really is a magnificent piece of architecture. The grand ceilings are a sight to see. The last time I went was to see the The Book of Mormon. What a fantastic show! I thoroughly enjoyed myself and would recommend anyone who like the tv show South Park to see that show. Others I've seen there that I can recall are Lion King the musical and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. The center definitely keeps a wide variety of shows coming around. Also for anyone metroing there, there is a red shuttle that can pick you up at from the closest metro stop straight to the theater. How convenient! I will say that I wish the prices for snacks and drinks were a bit less. Two drinks can easily be $20 depending on what you get. Hopefully they will reconsider their prices someday. But overall I always love coming here for a day out and a great show!

The Blenheim House is the main attraction, as it was used as a makeshift hospital by US and confederate soldiers. On the walls are signatures of it's residents, and some of them are quite funny. You will see US or confederate soldiers writing crossing out one another's, or a regiment definitely showing you "we were here." This is good for all ages. The property is stunning. I love the wood fences, and the grounds has plenty to explore. Once a year is civil war day. By all means a complete recommendation, as cannon demonstrations, and living history type of events. This is a gem of northern Virginia. By all means spend time and learn really interesting information.

"Not Worth Stopping to Visit"…read more Most of the negative reviews on this site mention that the reviewers were unhappy after renting space for private events. We just came to see this historic structure/site, however, there was nothing to see. There is a tiny exhibition hall, with information about soldiers and civilians who occupied this site, and a "recreation" of the signatures that soldiers scrawled on the walls of the house, along with some puerile cartoons of ships and fellow soldiers. When you visit the structures, you can't enter them (except on very select days, apparently). You can only peer in the windows, into what look like empty rooms. Gee, what a thrill. Otherwise, this place is just pathways and trees. I told myself for many years that I'd stop by one day to take a look at the place. I shouldn't have bothered. The employee on the site was obviously not interested in interacting with us, and obviously uninterested in discussing any of the history of the place. She only barely made eye contact; a magazine or homework or something was occupying her attention. We were the only visitors, but apparently our presence intruded on her time. There appear to be tours each Saturday, at 1 PM. We told the employee we'd like to see the inside of the house. She never bothered to mentioned the Saturday 1 PM tours. Perhaps it required too much of an effort. The parking lot was empty for good reason. I'm glad the site was preserved, but I won't stop by here again for any reason.
