Not super thrilled with the quality (after a few months, it still doesn't feel "natural" like some of the better crowns I've had), but functionally it gets the job done. My big gripe here is with their billing and their inability or willingness to hold themselves accountable for unacceptable billing practices. They gave me a "good faith estimate" on my crown that I paid up front, having already had all of my insurance information, but apparently quoted me as though I were in-network when they knew I was not (their words). I agreed to the work thinking it would cost around $900. (Paid in advance of service.) A few weeks after my crown, I got a bill for over $800. Turns out I was NOT in-network. When I discovered this and confronted the office manager with the information, I just received excuses: "it's not our fault you didn't know you were out-of-network", "we only gave you an estimate", "we made no mistakes", etc. Clearly mistakes were made. I was billed nearly double what they said it would cost when I agreed to the service and they refused to take any accountability. I would obviously have shopped around before agreeing to almost double that initial quote if I had known in advance it would be that expensive. After my initial discussion with the office manager, I was told she would call back about my proposed resolution. I've called back twice since, and have not been able to get ahold of her. This has ultimately led to me filing a complaint with the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance. Will update this review with a resolution.

She had great conversations, which took my mind off being nervous and it helped so much. Also she was super knowledgeable and explained everything each step of the way in depth. I also really loved the doctor. He Just had an ease about him and explained everything with no judgement. And Answered all my questions. I even thought the girls as I was checking out were super friendly and seemed actually happy to be at their job. Nowadays that's very rare. Again overall awesome experience. I will absolutely be suggesting to others. Thank you guys!

I was encouraged to pursue a different plan with the promise of discounts, which ultimately were not honored. A week after my cleaning, I reached out to reschedule an appointment and was only then informed--without any prior communication--that the doctor had decided to refer part of my case out. There was no call, email, or referral provided until I asked. When I raised concerns about this lack of communication, they were dismissed. During my procedure, the doctor was rushed and inattentive. I was visibly uncomfortable at multiple points, but no effort was made to check on me or adjust the procedure. The treatment was left incomplete, and I was told to return if it needed further adjustment. The following day, I contacted the office because the work did not feel right and requested an adjustment, but I was unable to get support. Shortly after, the crown cracked while I was eating. Since then, I have made multiple attempts to contact the office and have received no response. Overall, this experience reflected poor communication, lack of follow-through, and concerning patient care. I would recommend others proceed with caution.

I have submitted a malpractice claim to the state of Tennessee against Dr. Kellum for the…read moredestruction of TWO of my teeth. My assumption is he knows someone on the board because this entire situation is completely unacceptable and I am the one who has had to pay for it and will never have my natural smile again because of Dr. Kellums negligence. For some strange reason.... My google reviews don't seem to get posted as it never tallies. So it seems they are being removed to maintain an inaccurate image. Buckle up. It's a long story. And I am writing this because Dr. Kellum decided he would take zero responsibility for his actions or make any effort to rectify the situation. On October 2022, I had an old bonding replaced (discolored over time) on a FRONT tooth by Dr. Kellum. The bonding was initially placed by a dentist in Connecticut when I was in MIDDLE SCHOOL (somewhere between 2005-2008) to enlarge a congenitally small tooth and balance my smile. This tooth was 100% healthy at both of these visits as my records will show. I have gone my entire life up until now with no issues with this tooth or the PROPERLY placed bonding from the dentist in Connecticut. For reference, I am almost 30 now. I went back for my 6 month cleaning to the Germantown Dental office in March of 2023. Dr. Kellum confirmed my teeth were healthy via x-ray. Because decay takes time and I assumed a professional did their job correctly, I did not have any concerns at that visit. I am not a dentist, so I was not aware that the bonding was not sealed properly. One would think the professional would be the one to pick up on that, even at a subsequent 6 month routine checkup. In February 2024, I had x-rays done at a new dentist in Knoxville where they explicitly told me that the bonding placed by Dr. Kellum was not sealed properly near my gum and it allowed bacteria to seep in between the bonding and my tooth, causing $650 to fix, not to mention I NO LONGER HAVE MY NATURAL TOOTH ANYMORE AND I NEVER WILL AGAIN BECAUSE OF DR. KELLUM'S NEGLIGENCE. Not only was that tooth destroyed, the tooth next to it had started to decay already as well. They documented this with many photos of the bonding before its removal and the damage underneath as well as x-rays. I contacted Germantown Dental about the issue before contacting the state and they acknowledged that they did in fact place the bonding, but denied that there was any negligence and brushed me off completely. They also said that since I did not follow up with a concern sooner, it was out of their hands. (mind you I moved almost a year ago now). After I said I was taking this to the state, my phone calls would no longer go through from my personal number (they blocked me) and my emails suddenly went unanswered. Using a different number, I called in to request my medical records (the call went through) because it is my legal right to obtain them. The staff miraculously called back my personal number and bluntly said "yeah we already sent that" and hung up. Then I was told that I could not get my written record, only my x-rays. So not only did I pay $113 to Dr. Kellum for the faulty bonding (and $650 to fix his negligence), I now have permanent damage of two teeth, so bad that one needed a crown and my smile is impaired for the rest of my life. I sit here writing this on week two of my temporary crown after just having gone through malpractice training myself. Dr. Kellum is claiming that I accumulated that much damage coincidentally in the area of the bonding placement from March 2023 (declared healthy by Kellum) through February 2024. It seems pretty clear to me the reason why this happened..... To deny it is irresponsible and perpetuates my concern that other people are going to trust you to work on their teeth. This type of negligence and denial should not have been taken as lightly as you have taken it, Dr. Kellum. You should really treat your patients with a little bit more respect, instead of just a business transaction or a potential lawsuit.
