I made an appointment simply because it's close to my house. I was pleasantly surprised, though, to find a great clinic where dentists and hygienists really care about you. The first visit is always long (around 2 hours) which I though was kind of weird, but, as soon as you get there, you understand why. Lyndsey, my new favorite hygienist in the world, starting asking me questions about myself. Not because she was trying to be nosy, but because she really cared and wanted to get to know me. Who does that anymore? I LOVED IT. They take tons of pictures and they are incredibly thorough. I go to the dentist all the time, but, for the first time, I found out that I actually grind at night which is something no dentist has ever told me! And they showed me everything in the X rays. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS DENTAL OFFICE!!!!! They do NOT have a connected front office to actual dental staff and will schedule you then cancel without notice. I had to change dental offices halfway through a procedure because THREE different times I showed up for an appointment that they "forgot" to schedule. The front office will simply say "let's reschedule you" when you moved everything to be there for your appointment. I had them print off my individual charges for my 13,000 dollar implant & found 4 hidden charges that they "accidentally" added!! Insane! There is only ONE dentist who actually does any work & he's often out of office. You are MUCH better off elsewhere. Consider this your warning! Absolutely unprofessional. They charged for things they never did. The receptionist set appointments they did not keep. In the last 3 months, every appointment was postponed, after I got there! Go to this dentist if you want to pay WAY too much, be put on the back burner, be lied to, and then treated like a child when you speak up about it. When I was in person, talking to receptionist about my billing questions, they skipped my cleaning appointment without letting me know, saying they didn't want to "interrupt me." It was as if they were punishing me. Oh, and also, while you're in the waiting room, expect to overhear the receptionist's phone conversations about her crazy ex husband who is currently stalking her. Worst experience EVER. read more

I am not certain what happened during my treatment, but after a few months Dr. Clark began not showing up for my appointments, my mouth is in such terrible shape as a result of his care that I will probably be affected for the rest of my life, his communication skills are terrible, his compassionate skills are even worse. I paid an exorbitant amount for his treatment plan and am now having to start all over with another provider. I would not recommend Dr. Clark. read more

I didn't have the best experience here because I felt like I was trapped in a time share pitch when I was just trying to get a tooth fixed. They use vague language to make you feel like your going to get work done on the day of your appointment, but then spend a VERY long time talking to you about "all over wellness" two minutes taking xrays and you're there for 2 hrs, only to book you out two weeks later for the actual problem you came in with...They even recommend some kind of TMJ clinic? I don't have TMJ or any symptoms of it. Despite this, I wasn't going to write a negative review...I was just going to chalk it up to experience...The problem is, they gave me a big rundown of cavities I have and I have had multiple x-rays since then...a set with a periodontist and a set with a DDS, both of which see no evidence of any cavities. Yes, they did point out other existing issues that were factual and I have since had addressed with a different DDS...but I can't stop thinking about what if I had had work done on those non existent cavities? Would they have just drilled into healthy teeth to make money? I had to write this review to let you know that you should always get two (or three) sets of x-rays from different offices and make sure the facts are the facts. Definitely recommended. When you visit you'll find a clean office run by friendly staff. Doctor is straight forward and gets right to work when he's at your chair but still is quite hospitable. He and his staff not only provided the usual dental exams but also give you ample opportunity to learn what's happening with your teeth and how to address the good and bad spots. Definitely an above average and much appreciated education on how to take care of my chompers. Scheduling is easy and they send you plenty of reminders (i.e. text) about your upcoming appointment. Parking on the street behind their office is tight and sometimes packed so plan accordingly. Wait time upon arrival hasn't been an issue. read more

Dr. Clark and his staff changed my life. They have given me the most exceptional dental/health care a person could possibly receive. I had a full dental restoration to help solve TMJ/TMD headaches, a bad bite, and crowns that were continually popping off. As a bonus, they also took pressure off my ear canal, reducing ear infections and also restoring my hearing- totally unexpected, but tested and proven by my hearing Doc. I am back living a normal life again and not planning time sick or hurting from activities that caused me pain- flying, chewing...even yawning. My teeth also look amazing and someone commented that I look like a walking toothpaste commercial a few weeks ago. Everyone in the office is wonderful, but Amanda is really an amazing person. She remembers everything about me and my wife, knows how to deal with me (a difficult personality), and is just flat out fantastic at what she does. Thank you, Amanda, and everyone else at that office. I can tell you all genuinely care. It's relatively expensive, but I've spent more over the past 20 years on ineffective half measures than I did on a one-time expense that made life a hell of a lot better for me. I think about that office when I'm doing activities I was never able to do before. Oh, and parking sucks. Deal with it. read more

I have always hated going to the dentist. I had a horrible experience growing up as a kid with the dentist and that has stayed with me until my mid 40s. Downtown Dental has helped me turn a corner. They are all professional and welcoming. No one really enjoys going to the dentist but Downtown Dental makes it easier and more relaxing. I was made to feel so welcomed and comfortable on my first visit. Their kindness and patience for someone with dentist anxiety was wonderful. They were extremely thorough with my exam and all very knowledgeable. And Dr Clark's young age is quite an advantage, in using the most modern techniques . I just had the best and most thorough new patient dental exam I've ever had in my life at Downtown Dental. Funny as it sounds, I feel like my former dentist was a PC and Dr. Clark is a Mac. My mind is still blown by what I learned from my first exam. Dr. Clark's technology is so far beyond what I expected to find in a "normal" dental office, and I left the exam not only feeling relieved and more in control of my dental fears, but his amazing thoroughness revealed a lot of the 'why' behind my dental concerns, breaking it down in a way that I absolutely understood. All of this was wonderful, but the icing on the cake was a cool, laid-back, and highly trained staff that made me feel completely at home: honestly, I was teetering on panic attack mode when I arrived, and my anxiety dissolved after arriving and spending time with Dr. Clark/team. I'm glad my friends urged me to see "their dentist", who is now "my dentist". Totally worth it. read more

The staff and dentist were very friendly and helpful. The process was thorough and they did a great job. The reason I am giving them a 2 star is because they failed to tell me that they were not in my insurance network. They quoted me over $1200 in work. While my employer may have had insurance in their network last year, I was unaware that we had switched. I feel like as a company, that is something you should tell your customers up front. I was quoted around $500 for a removal of cement on my teeth. The new dentist I went to removed the cement in all of 3 seconds- no charge. read more

Worst primary care dentist in all of Nashville. Doesn't care about cost to client, and doesn't tailor the services provided per the insurance benefits covered by the client's payor. These are the basic tenets of the move from fee-for-service to fee-for-value. I had to pay $3,000 out-of-pocket for a simple wisdom tooth extraction (which, by the way, was not medically necessary) to a provider referred by this one who was out of network for my payor. Very nice service, very friendly. But they are in the business of making money, so they'll make you believe a host of procedures and dentistry done for your teeth. They stress urgency and try to get you to pay top dollar to get it fixed. After my third visit, I went to another dentist and received totally different recommendations and advice. I felt like I was being swindled. If you don't mind shelling out a ton of money to have your mouth filled with crowns as simple precautions, hit him up. I am a bonafide fan of Downtown Dental. They are friendly, efficient, fast, and compassionate. I was new to town and took the leap because they're close enough to my office job downtown that I could easily book appointments and not need unnecessary travel. (Read: Never had to park a car, but call ahead for tips on how to do that as cars get towed in this part of town.) I've had two regular cleanings with them and both have been professional, friendly, and effective. The second cleaning came with the news that I need a root canal (WA WA) and although I was bummed about the news, they made it as easy as possible by a) offering to call & book the appointment with the endodontist they referred, b) explaining to me in detail the care that would be needed and the follow-up appointments, and c) working with my insurance company to work up estimates for the root canal AND the subsequent crown that would be needed, giving me peace of mind that I had a ballpark figure for out of pocket costs before I walked out. Dentists, take note. If you're going to drop the bomb that someone has some follow-up appointments for not very fun dental work, ease the burden by being kind, helpful, and generous with your time and attention. I can't believe that I am about to say this, but I always look forward to my visits at Downtown Dental (even if I am having a procedure more than a regular cleaning). Everyone at the office is friendly, the atmosphere is spa-like, and Dr. Clark is by far the best dentist ever. I have very sensitive teeth, and have never experienced one ounce of pain or discomfort there. I am moving from Tennessee at the end of this month, and my biggest regret about moving is leaving Downtown Dental. A good dentist is so very hard to find... I've had a plethora of bad dental visits in the past. Ranging from drilling before I was numb, fillings done wrong, and being left uninformed of procedures done or ones that needed to be done. So it took me three years to find a new dentist and get the gumption to go. After doing a bunch of research I found Downtown Dental was standing out for good service, and they delivered on that 100-fold. From start to finish my exam, cleaning, and consultation for work that needed to be done was pleasant. That's right, pleasant. I've never felt comfortable in a dentist's office before and I was relaxed and cared for the entire time. I was referred by Dara C. How anyone gives less than a perfect score to these folks is beyond me. They must be trolling or trying to divert business. The staff at Downtown Dental are friendly, courteous and compassionate. The facilities and equipment are modern and clean. They strike a terrific balance between professional and personable. I was petrified to go to the dentist due to horrible past experiences and some PTSD. I hadn't been for 20 years and nobody shamed me for my fear or for the state of my gums and teeth. In fact, they were considerate and thorough in their exams and in communicating with me and educating me. They patiently answered all of my questions. They even gave me a blanket to stay cozy while I had my teeth examined and cleaned. Dr Clark and his Dental Assistant Lisa even got and engaged my nerdy jokes. I am a fairly new patient but I was impressed from my first visit and will continue to come back. The hygienist are friendly and knowledgeable, and very thorough with explaining everything that is going on. I unfortunately have to get my teeth cleaned 3-4 times a year opposed to two because I have issues with tartar build up which is something every dentist I've ever had has told me and recommended, additionally they were up front about explaining my insurance would not cover all cleanings. read more

They will file different interventions and codes towards your insurance for extra money. I haven't had any issues with my teeth in over 20+ years and for some reason after my first visit, they have used a code on my file that goes towards my insurance where I get charged for just a cleaning when I have no issues whatsoever and they are doing nothing extra for me. I have Blue Cross insurance and I'm suppose to get two visits a year with no co-pay or any other charges unless a special intervention was performed. I am now having to pay a co-pay and extra fees since they will not even consider fixing this issue. I have tried for over a month to get this issue fixed, and every time I give them a call, they will tell me that Dr. Clark will call me back or that they will try to fix it. I got my bill today showing I owed $73 for a teeth cleaning. I am fed up, and I will not be going back to Downtown Dental. You have been warned. read more

I love this dentist office! No dentist that I have ever been to has been as good. I have some pretty bad teeth issues because of the way that my jaw sits. No one, not even a specialist, could figure out why my mouth was constantly hurting. Dr. Clark's office did, though! Not only did they figure it out, but I called them that morning and they got me in that day to figure out what was going on. I ended up having to get a custom mouth guard fitted, and I actually go to pick it up today. I know it is going to be great because of the intense fittings that I had to go through, they were extremely precise and paid a lot of attention to detail. I really like this dentist. The office is modern, clean and state of the art. The hygienists might be the most friendly people I've met and the dentist is friendly and profession as well. They are clear on procedures and recommendations and aren't pressuring of procedures. They give accurate quotes- no surprises. Also care about overall health not just teeth. I'd recommend to anyone.
