When I went here the other day with my dad for a father daughter dinner and I was a little disappointed with the service. I think when an employee greets me immediately with a warm smile it really sets the tone, however we stood at the counter in front of four associates who completely ignored us. It looked like they were preparing take out orders. After a few minutes though we were helped and I got a build your own salad. You get to choose your lettuce, seven toppings, dressing and optional meat. The tri-tip was perfectly cooked but had a little chewy fat on it. I devoured that salad in ten minutes though! Eh. I'm really underwhelmed by Jack's right now. I decided to get a sandwich from them today because I remembered they were pretty good in Sacramento, and now there is one right by my house in Roseville. But eh... The fries were okay. My soda was refreshing. The sandwich... The bread was probably the highlight of my sandwich and that's not saying much. I ordered a classic grilled chicken sandwich on sourdough with avocado. The chicken was pretty cold which was unpleasant, and the tomatoes and lettuce were not fresh. For 75 cents I got a small sliver of avocado that was only on one half of the sandwich. The service ... It was a long wait. The girl who was cashiering should definitely not be representing Jack's. She was pretty rude and kept transferring back from ringing and making food (maybe that's why she was in a bad mood). On the way out the door one of the guys did tell me by my name to have a good day, which was a nice touch. Customer service training 101! All this for ... 13, nearly 14 bucks. For one sandwich, fries and a small soda. Definitely not going back any time soon. read more

This is our 'go-to' place when we're heading out to run errands or what not. This newest addition to the wildly popular local chain features a spacious dining room with high ceilings and a handful of tables outside - perfect for alfresco dining. And even though they've been open less than 24 hours as I write this, there was nary a glitch in their cafeteria-style, pay-at-the-counter, we'll-bring-it-to-you system. Service was fast, friendly and efficient and food was brought out as ordered and at the correct temperature. Deep sigh. Sometimes, it's the little things... I had the classic chicken sandwich and Hubby had an absurdly large steak salad with double meat and a side of garlic bread. Dinner for two came to 20 bucks. Can't beat that. Went here during lunch and was expecting a really long wait. I walked in and there was a line of about 15 people so I was hesitant to stand and wait in that long line. I figured since I am here I might as well see how fast they are and decide after a few minutes. To my surprise, the staff was extraordinary. They were quick, friendly, helpful and any other good quality you could think of in the food service industry. It took me no more than 10 minutes in and out. I ordered the build my own salad. Although I am saddened to see that they no longer offer the half size, I figure since it is a salad I could eat the whole thing and still fill somewhat good about myself after. The employees gave a good portion of everything so I was very please. Also very full after eating the whole salad. Even when this place is busy, the line typically moves pretty quickly. In most cases, but not always. The people in front of me had absolutely no idea what they wanted to eat and it seemed like they asked about every single item on the menu so Employee A was occupied with them for a while. Employee B said they could take my order, if I was ordering a salad. I wasn't, so the people behind me went ahead because they wanted salads. Employee A was still talking with the people in front of me, so the next people behind me went up and ordered with Employee B (they also wanted salads). FINALLY........the people in front of me picked something off the menu and I went up to Employee A, who acknowledged that I was there and was ready to take my order, but then Employee C came over and said that I wasn't next because the people behind me who went to order with Employee B ordered salads AND sandwiches. So without even a "sorry, someone will help you shortly", Employee A walked off to go make their sandwiches. I had one of those "WTF" moments because I was stuck in "line limbo". I couldn't go to Employee B because I didn't have a salad and I couldn't go to Employee A because they were making the meal for someone else. I'm a reasonably patient person, but I was ready to walk out the door when Employee D came over and took my order. I can guess that Employee B was only letting people with salads in their orders talk to them is because salads are made faster and can be given to the customers sooner so the line can progress more quickly. It seemed like a totally inefficient system when people ordered salads and other items because they had to wait just like everyone else for their non-salad food. And to top it off, instead of giving me the Steak SANDWICH I wanted...I got a Steak SALAD instead. To be mildly fair, I probably should have checked my order before leaving with it (I ordered to-go). I usually come here without any issues. If you can get in right around 11 am you can beat the long lines of the lunch rush. On 6/12/17 around 11 am I ordered a build your own salad with chicken. I had pieces of black, wilted romaine lettuce in my salad which was very unappetizing. That's why I'm only giving it 2 stars. read more

This place is very pricey for a sandwich that is small. They charge for a fine dining price on their foods and give crappy service here. I've been to all their locations and this is by far the worst customer service ever! The more they expanded this company the more they lost their charm and customer service, along with the quality of their food. I enjoy their sandwiches of either turkey or portabella mushroom. I think these are the only 2 that they cannot not overcook and present to me dry. Their steak and chicken are a hit or miss, so I often avoid ordering these sandwiches. I love their urban fries, I usu ask for no oil bcz it is not a pleasant addition to the dish. You can't call in an order, so you gotta have time to sit and wait if you want it to go. read more

This trendy yet tasty eatery is usually overflowing with patrons noshing tasty food. So far everything I have tried has been decent and they have some home cooking style dishes with hand carved meats and giant salads. I have no complaints as the staff is always in motion helping ,serving or cleaning. We came all the way from Florida just to eat here. OK, maybe there were some other reasons to come here, too, but finding Jack's was a fortunate thing. I love how this is so clearly "real" food. Nothing says turkey breast better than a carving knife and a roasted bird. I ordered the California cheese steak sandwich and was happy with everything -- great bread, amazing slices of meat. To quibble just a bit, it was a little heavy on the aoli, but I'm not a but mayo fan to begin with. Everything about my meal was quite good. My wife got the turkey club and it was fabulous. The roll was grill toasted. Avocado was perfectly ripe. She says best turkey club she's ever had by far. The garlic fries were very tasty. No need to worry about vampires for a few days! Shame on you Jack's for copying Pluto's concept almost exactly. Build your own Salads, Carved Sandwiches, Mashed Potatoes, Stuffing.... hmm you couldn't even try to mask your plagerism? Well the difference is in the details and the value. Jack's doesn't have nearly as many salad topping choices and the Turkey isn't nearly as moist. Even the crew doesn't seem to be as professional as Pluto's. All this and you get less food for more money! I left Jack's hungry after shelling out close to $15. I have never left Pluto's hungry. Not sure why people are giving 1-star reviews for things like they didn't answer their phone when I called, or a manager was hard on his staff. The food is really good. Service is good. Don't let random people who had a weird experience discourage you from trying Jack's if you haven't before. Cafeteria style food that's done well is always enjoyable. Great sandwiches and salads. Finally, a Jack's in Roseville! It is exactly what you expect from a Jack's, but a larger location than some (which is nice since there is always a lunch rush), and a generous amount of outdoor seating (which is a big plus to me!!) All three peeps in my party ordered a salad, and they were delish! I had the Thai salmon salad, and my friends did the build your own. I tried the tofu on my friend's plate and it was marinated in some kind of soy sauce--flavorful and delicious! Some logistical issues with the two different lines leading up to where you order (sandwich line and salad line). They are not marked, so unless a staff member tells you, you may end up in the wrong line! It does give you the feeling of being "herded" but overall not a big deal. Aw come on! How do you mess up a salad???? And the garlic mashed potatoes too???? The BBQ Tri-tip was a winner. Ok, so looked forward to eating at Jacks and was hungry - a good combination. I decided that the Thai Salmon salad sounded good, with a Thai sesame dressing, grapefruit and fresh glazed salmon. The bite of grapefruit was as sour as can be - that happens, oh well. The "glazed" salmon wasn't "glazed", it was as dry as toast (obviously waaaay overcooked). The thai sesame vinagrette was mostly the latter, without much flavor of the former.. Now, if you're going to advertise garlic-mashed potatoes, use garlic - the real thing. All I could taste was a combination of garlic and onion powders. BBQ Tri-tip sandwich was very good, however, served on grilled ciabatta with a chipotle-mango dressing. Very tasty, but not enought to overcome the poor showing on the salad and potatoes. read more

I love the customer service at this place, everyone was so nice and they greet you as soon as you walk in, love it!!! It wasn't a fake greeting, like at other places.. this is my first time eating here, and I was kind of nervous about the food. I have read many reviews about the urban fries here, and believe me they're so good!!!!( Yummy!!!) I also had the steak sandwich, which was great as well, but the fries are 100% good. I will most definitely eat here again, and bring my family here too. they're foodies like me, so I know they will love it here read more

I had heard good things about Jacks but was thoroughly disappointed. I tried it today and first thing I noticed was the lack of training the staff has in dealing with their paying public. Behind the counter the workers were deep in very loud conversation ignoring me as I patiently waited to be acknowledged. First time at this specific Jack's location. The place was quite busy as it was about 3 in the afternoon. We ordered right away and the food arrived at our table in less than 5 minutes, which was really nice. I ordered the California Cheese Steak and family sized Urban Fries. The food was delicious. Obviously not the most healthy place to eat if you're a super conscious health nut, but a nice place to visit on cheat days. The sandwich was a bit small, but very tasty. The fries were very satisfying but too large for two people if you also order other dishes. Recommend getting the regular sized fries if you are eating fries as a side. Would definitely come back again! The only downfall was that this is at a very busy location in Roseville and can be hard to find parking and seats. read more

This Jack's is WAY better than the Folsom location. The Jack's in Roseville is a lot more calm, and you don't feel as rushed to get through the line. The employees are all friendly, and the food comes out pretty fast (although the place was empty, as I went here around 3:45pm). The sandwich I ordered was great, but the macaroni & cheese is just okay - nothing special about it. Anyway, I'll never go back to the Folsom location, but I'd drive the extra miles to come to this location! read more

Good food...portion sizes a small, but tasty. Reuben "style" sandwich....great whole grain mustard, right amount of sauerkraut, think bread sliced and grilled. Thankfully, sandwich was not soggy. Huge salads, freshly roasted meat, fast service, a great mix of comfort food and healthy selections make this a lunch choice at least two or three times a month. The Urban fries (fries topped with bleu cheese, spicy chile oil and chile flakes) are a must have- big enough to share for the table, but I find myself wanting to stab my co workers with my fork if I feel they're taking more than their share. You can pick from one of their menu salads, or pick toppings to create your own. If you want to save a few bucks, order the half salad- it's not noticeably smaller than the full sized one. A new menu item is quickly becoming a favorite- veg sandwich with grilled eggplant (I'm a sucker for eggplant) it's delicious and makes me feel like it could counterbalance the evil of the urban fries. I was excited to check out Jack's after I had heard rave reviews. We stopped here for lunch - I ordered a Spicy Buffalo Salad made with tofu instead of the fried chicken. The dude behind the counter looked at me kinda weird and said it had never occurred to him to make it that way before when I ordered it this way, but I paid no attention - more on that later. The salad off the menu consists of greens, candied walnuts, apples, carrots and celery along with blue cheese. I skipped the walnuts and had them sub in the garbonzo / kidney bean combo. We got our salads pretty quickly and they were really big! The salad had a generous amount of everything and the tofu? Wondering why the surprised look when I ordered it that way? Well, it was a teriyaki marinated tofu. It was good, just not on a buffalo salad. Overall, it was quite good and I would def go again. read more

From the outside, this place looks like a sit-down restaurant but after seeing a line, we decided to try Jacks instead of 5 Guys next door. The menu was hard to choose from! They offer more upscale sandwich choices, including tri-tip and carved turkey and sides a plenty. The sandwiches were good size and the meat was moist and deliciously seasoned. The brussel sprouts were a nice choice but I personally wasn't a huge fan of them, they needed more seasoning and less walnuts. But the cajun chicken sandwich was fantastic! Same with the tri-tip sandwich. The line went by really quickly and the service was great. Everyone was very friendly and we walked out for just about $20 for 2 sandwiches and one side. Not bad, considering we would have spent $15 for meals at a fast food place. I will skip the fries and soda for better quality food anyday. We will definitely come back and explore the menu here some more--maybe some soups and salad next time, the options were endless. read more

I normally love the food here. But I didn't love changing my baby's diaper on the bathroom floor. Why a place in Roseville with high chairs doesn't have a changing table is beyond me. It's Roseville. We ate here (at The Fountains mall in Roseville) on a busy Sunday, after reading some positive reviews. Overall, a disappointing experience for us. Here's why: 1. No coffee served. None. Zero. 2. The iced tea was some super-perfumy blend, almost impossible to drink. Steer clear if you prefer iced tea from good old black tea. 3. No steak knives. Our elderly companion at the meal had to try cutting up her tri-tip with a butter knife. 4. The onions are NOT caramelized as stated. The onions taste & look exactly like they are blanched and then sugar is added. Besides these problems, it's a noisy place, plus you have to stand in line to order your food, then wait again at the cash register. All in all, not a great spot if you have seniors in tow. There were lots of people dining there who seemed to be enjoying their meals, but we will never return. read more

And my first experience with Jack's in downtown Sacramento wasn't all that great, but in their defense, I was hungover and nothing could have saved me. I've come to like Jack's... I really like their salads and I can usually talk my boyfriend into getting the garlic fries so I can have a few. The ingredients are always fresh and their steak is cooked perfectly. Ordered a salad with no onions and got a salad filled with onions. There were so many onions that my eyes were literally burning from picking them out. The salad was inedible. Tried to call and talk to a manager but they don't answer their phone and only check messages twice a day. Their voicemail was full and so I couldn't even leave a message. There is only an address to mail a letter for their corporate office so there is literally no one to file a complaint with. I get that mistakes happen but when there is no one available to correct or address the mistakes it's a problem! I'm a regular at this location and usually order either the create your own salad or the impossible taco bowl, both of which are always fresh and delicious. But the truly outstanding thing about this location is the hospitality.
